USING INSTRUCTION
System Overview
These instructions review how to install Chopstick LED suspended fixtures.
Chopstick 4ft, 6ft, & 8ft modules can be installed as individual standalone
units, or they can be joined together to create continuous rows. The graphic
below shows the components required to install a typical row of Chopstick LED
suspended fixtures.
IMPORTAN T: Read all instructions including fixture wiring AND mechanical details before beginning installation.
Module Lengths
Chopstick LED suspended systems come in 4ft, 6ft, & 8ft modules. Overall
module lengths are shown here. Module lengths do not include end caps.
Endcaps
Add two endcaps to the length of each row.
Mount Spacing
For on-grid T-bar ceiling installations, mounts attach directly to the Tee.
For non-accessible ceilings and off-grid T-bar installations, the graphic
below indicates mount spacing for typical row lengths. Mounting options are
also available for a variety of other ceiling types.
Row Configurations
The table below indicates how 4ft, 6ft, & 8ft modules can be combined to
create continuous rows of various lengths.
Overall row lengths provided do not include end caps. Add two endcaps to the overall length of each row.
ATTENTION: Install under national and local building and electrical codes.
-
Prepare fixtures / Install ceiling mounting components
Arrange boxed fixtures on the floor in specified mounting locations; remove fixtures & light guide panels from boxes.
Install all ceiling mounting components and vertical aircraft cables using separate installation instructions for Aircraft Cable Mounting (supplied).
NOTE: If conditions are dusty/dirty, the recommended practice is to leave fixtures in their plastic bag. Cut small holes in the bag as needed to complete the following installation sequence, and then completely remove the bag from the fixture when conditions are clean. -
Install end-of-row aircraft cable brackets
Fold rectangular flaps in the wire cover and insert the A/C mounting bracket through the top. Raise the bracket until the security tab is engaged.
Attach brackets to the fixture using supplied fasteners. -
Suspend and level first fixture
With two people, raise the first fixture to the ceiling. At each end of the module, insert the aircraft cable into the cable adjuster. The adjuster will automatically grip and hold the cable. Do not force cable into the adjuster. See instructions A (page 3) for more details. -
Complete electrical connections at end
NON-POWER LOCATIONS: Cap all wires and tuck into the wire cavity.
POWER LOCATIONS: Remove the required ½” round knockout(s) in the wire cover and insert sup-plied bushings(s). Insert the power cord and apply strain relief below the wire cover to secure the cord. Remove installed quick-wire connectors (if applicable) at power feed locations and complete electrical connections using wire nuts (supplied by others). Tuck wires into the wire cavity. -
Install in-row mount brack-ets and insert joiner aligners
For each additional fixture in the row, at the end furthest from the existing sus-pended fixture, install the A/C mounting bracket as in step 2. At the end closest to the existing suspended fixture, insert joiner aligners into the cross plate (aligners will lock into place). -
Suspend and join additional fixtures to create row
With two people, raise the second fixture to the ceiling.
At the joint, insert joiner aligners through the black GASKET and into the suspended fixture. At the other end of the joining fixture, insert the aircraft cable through the adjuster.
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to join fixtures on the floor. The correct method is to hang one fixture at a time and join fixtures at ceiling level. -
Complete electrical connections at joints
Complete in-row electrical connections.
NON-POWER LOCATIONS: Use supplied quick-wire connectors. Tuck wires into the wire cavity.
POWER LOCATIONS : Remove installed quick-wire connectors and complete electrical connections using wire nuts (supplied by others). Tuck wires into the wiring cavity. -
Secure joint(s)
SLIDE MODULES TOGETHER: Secure the joint from above using supplied bolts & nuts. -
Install endcaps
Attach the endcap to the first and last module in each row using the supplied hardware. 11/32” NUT DRIVER OR WRENCH REQUIRED.
IMPORTANT: Do not over-tighten endcap hard-ware. Tighten by hand. When the nut is flush with the cross-plate, turn an additional 1/8 –1/4 turn. -
Install light guide
PEEL OFF PROTECTIVE FILM FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE LIGHT GUIDE PANEL IMPORTANT: INSTALL LIGHT GUIDE PANEL SHINY SIDE DOWN
Locate one edge of the light guide panel against LEDs as shown. Using both hands, squeeze together the housing and light guide panel edge with your thumb and fingers. Continuing to squeeze, quickly rotate the light guide into place. Ensure the light guide is installed correctly.
Aircraft cable adjustment
IMPORTANT: Do not force the cable into the adjuster. To insert the cable into the adjuster, follow the steps below.
-

Carefully insert the cable into the tapered end. If the cable does not insert easily or becomes jammed, use the release tool to remove the cable. Trim the cable end again and repeat the process. DO NOT BEND THE CABLE BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE ADJUSTER. -
TEST
Once the Cable is inserted, apply a 25lb point load to each mounting bracket to ensure all connections are secure.
NOTE: Ensure the fixture is level end-to-end. Support the fixture from below and use the supplied aircraft cable release tool to make fine height adjustments.
Level horizontally
LEVEL HORIZONTALLY: Loosen the fastener on the bottom of the adjuster and level as required. Tighten the fastener once the fixture is in
Level vertically
LEVEL VERTICALLY : Support the fixture from below and use the supplied cable gripper
