Introduction

Assessment Task 1: Written Assessment

Instructions for this task:

  • Answer all questions in the space provided.

You will be required to have a good understanding of the following areas:

  1. identify application software packages used by the organisation and list the purpose of each
  2. explain basic technical terminology related to reading help files and responding to system help prompts
  3. outline current business practices related to using software to prepare reports
  4. list features and functions of commercial computing packages
  5. describe import and export software functions
  6. describe the process of linking documents
  7. outline WHS principles and responsibilities for ergonomics, such as work periods and breaks
  8. explain the purpose of input and output devices.

Benchmark

You must get all questions 100% correct and all documentation requested in this assessment is submitted to gain a satisfactory in this task.

Assessment Task 2: Portfolio/ Practical Activities
Instructions for this task:

  • You are to test your ability to operate application software.
  • Ask your Assessor to clarify items you are unsure about before commencing. Complete all tasks as
  • stated and submitted all work for assessment by the due date.

You will be required to have a good understanding of the following areas:

  1. produce workplace documents using a minimum of three different software application packages
  2. open, amend and save files and documents according to organisational requirements
  3. apply workplace health and safety (WHS) principles and responsibilities for ergonomics, such as work periods and breaks
  4. use help manuals and online help.
    • Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Benchmark

  • Using the Assessment Matrix below you are to achieve at least a rating of 4 to be deemed satisfactory in this task.
  • You must complete all activities in full and you must answer all questions in full.
  • You must demonstrate that you can Operate application software packages.
  • All criteria listed in the Assessor’s Checklist must be met to the industry standards specified in this unit.
