INTRODUCTION
Read these operating instructions carefully before putting the pump into
operation.
Compliance with the operating instructions provided by the manufacturer is a
prerequisite for safe and proper use of the pump.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place and pass them on to any
person who may be using the pump.
The following symbols are used:
ATTENTION!
This symbol indicates instructions that must be carefully observed to ensure
the safety of the user and other persons.
WARNING
This symbol indicates instructions that must be observed to prevent damage
to the pump.
NOTE
This symbol indicates any special technical requirements to be observed.
SAFETY NOTES
The pump may only be used in swimming pools, garden ponds and fountains
when operated in conjunction with a residual-current device with a residual-
current rating of 10/30 mA in accordance with DIN/VDE 0100, Parts 737, 738 and
702. Note that the power point must be protected by a 10 A fuse.
Observe the mains voltage: the information on the nameplate of the pump
must be in agreement with the data for the mains power grid.
Extension cables must have a min. crosssection of 3 x 1.5 mm² and be
compliant with type H07RN-F as per DIN 57282/57245; mains plug and extension
connections must be protected from water splashes. Ensure that extension
cables on drums are fully extended.
For safety reasons, the pump must not be operated by:
− persons unfamiliar with the operating instructions.
− children under the age of 16.
The pump may not be used for any other purpose than its designated use.
Before using, make sure that:
− the pump, the power cable and the plug are not damaged.
− no persons are touching the water to be drawn off.
Before using, always subject the pump to a visual inspection: a pump
which is damaged should not be used. In the event of damage, have the pump
checked by AL-KO Service.
The mains power cable must not be used for fastening, lifting or
transporting the pump. Do not interrupt the mains supply by unplugging at the
power extension cable but rather disconnect at the outlet socket.
Disconnect the plug from the mains power supply before performing any
work on the pump or if a fault is detected or occurs. Make sure that the plug
is kept dry.
**** The pump may not be changed or modified. AL-KO is not liable for any
damage caused if it is due to improper repair or if parts exchanged are not
original parts or parts approved by AL-KO and if repairs were not carried out
by an AL-KO Service Centre or an authorised specialist.
PROPER USE
Designated use
The pump is designed for use in private households. It may only be operated in
applications as set out in the technical data sheet. The pump is exclusively
designed for:
− drawing off water collected in rain water tanks and other water containers.
Improper use
The pump must not be used in continuous operation: it must be turned off as
soon as there is no more water to be delivered. It should not be used for the
delivery of:
− salt water
− waste water
− foodstuffs
− corrosive liquids or chemicals
− inflammable, explosive or volatile liquids
− sandy water or abrasives.
The max. permissible water temperature of 35 °C must not be exceeded.

Thermal protection
The pump comes with a built-in thermal overloadswitch that will switch the
pump off if it overheats. After cooling down (ca. 15-20 min.), the pumpwill
start again automatically. Do not allow thepump to dry-run: observe the min.
water level.
PREPARATION PRIOR TO OPERATION
- Screw standpipe (5a) with the gasket (2c) on the connection thread (6).
- Screw standpipe (5b) with the gasket (2b) on the standpipe (5a).
- Screw flexible hose (4) with the gasket (2b) on the standpipe (5b).
- Screw stop-valve (1) with the gasket (2a) on the flexible hose (4).
- Attach connection cable (7) with the cable clip (3) according to picture B.
- Connect a hose with a standard quickrelease coupling to the shut-off valve (1).
- Place the pump into the water.
**** Ensure that the electrical connections for plugs and sockets are made in areas safe from flooding. A rope can be attached to the carrying handle for lowering the pump into deep containers or raising and fastening it.
PUTTING THE PUMP INTO OPERATION
- Plug in the mains connector of the pump into a power point. The pump will start to run immediately.
Do not allow the pump to run longer than 15 minutes against a closed pressure side.
Switching off the pump
- Disconnect the pump’s mains plug after use.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
** Disconnect the plug from the mains power supply before performing any
work on the pump and ensure that it cannot be switched on inadvertently.
Cleaning the pump**
- After delivering chlorinated water from swimming pools or dirty rain water, the pump must be flushed with clear water after the filter (10) has been cleaned. See fig. C for removal and replacement of filter.
Frost protection
Protect the pump against frost. Store the pump dry if endangered by frost.
FAULT | POSSIBLE | REMEDY |

Pump is running but does not deliver. | Air cannot escape because the pressure | |
line is closed or kinked. | Open the shut-off valve or check the hose for a |
possible kink and straighten it
Suction foot/filter is blocked.| Clean the suction foot/filter.
Max. delivery height exceeded.| Reduce the delivery height.
Pump does not start or stops suddenly during operation.| Thermal switch has
switched the pump off due to overheating.| Unplug the pump from the mains and
clean the suction foot/filter. Wait until the pump switches on again
automatically. Observe the max. water temperature.
No electrical power.| Check fuses and electrical connections.
