About this document
1.1 Purpose of this document
The Operating Instructions (OI) are an integral part of the product and
provide the information required to ensure correct and safe operation.
1.2 Using this document
Read these Operating Instructions (OI) carefully before operating the unit.
Keep these instructions with the vessel.
Hand these instructions on to the following owner or user of the unit.

1.4 Warranty and liability
Webasto shall not assume liability for defects or damage that are the result
of the installation and operating instructions being disregarded. This
liability exclusion particularly applies to:
- Installation by untrained personnel.
- Improper use.
- Repairs not carried out by a Webasto service workshop.
- Use of non-genuine parts.
- Conversion of the unit without permission from Webasto.
- Mechanical damage to the equipment.
- Non-compliance with inspection and maintenance instructions.
Safety
2.1 Intended use
The FS 2500 is an electrically operated marine folding shade system for
comfort purposes. The FS 2500 is designed for use on motor and sailing yachts.
2.2 Safety information

| When closing the folding shade, make sure to keep all body parts and/or
obstructions away from the opening to prevent injury!
| Do not stand or walk on the shading system!
CAUTION
Possible damage due to weather conditions and / or speed
Close the shading system at:
– Speeds above 40 kts
– A sea state of more than 1 m
– At wind speeds over 16 kts (4 Bf)

3.1 Overview of the folding shade

NOTE
The illustrations show the standard Webasto control switch. The installed
control switch can be different.
3.2 Opening the folding shade
3.2.1 Opening the folding shade
The folding shade opens as long as the button is pressed.
Main power supply is switched on.
Push and hold the open button to open the folding shade.
Release the button when the folding shade has reached the desired position.
3.2.2 One touch opening
When this option is installed the folding shade opens completely after
momentarily pushing the open button.
Main power supply is switched on.
Push the open button momentarily.
– The folding shade opens completely.
– Pushing the button again stops the opening movement.
3.3 Closing the folding shade
3.3.1 Closing the folding shade
The folding shade closes as long as the button is pressed.
Main power supply is switched on.
Push and hold the close button to close the folding shade.
Release the button when the folding shade has reached the desired position.
3.3.2 One touch closing
When this option is installed the folding shade closes up to 200 mm from the
fullly closed position after momentarily pushing the close button. This
position is for safety reasons to make sure nobody gets trapped between the
folding shade and the deck structure.
Main power supply is switched on.
Push the close button momentarily.
– The folding shade closes up to 200 mm from the fully closed position.
– Pushing the button again stops the closing movement.
Push and hold the close button to fully close the folding shade.
Release the button when the folding shade has reached the fully closed
position.
Maintenance
CAUTION
Cleaning agents may contain harmful components
Damage to product.
Never use solvents such as:
– Methylated spirits
– Turpentine
– White spirit
– Window cleaning products
– Alkaline products containing sodium solutions
– Muriatic acid or products containing phosphor
CAUTION
Dry materials cause damage to the shading system
Never rub the dry surface of the shading system.
Never use steel wool, abrasives or sandpaper.
CAUTION
High pressure cleaners can cause damage to the shading system
Never use a high pressure cleaner to clean the shading system.
Regular maintenance of the shading system makes cleaning easier and ensures
smooth operation.
4.1 Cleaning
Wash the Shading system with clean, lukewarm water and a soft brush.
Let the fabric dry in the open air.
In case of stubborn stains:
Use a mild soap or Tex Activ Cleaner, solved in lukewarm water.
Rinse the fabric with clean water.
Let the fabric dry in the open air.
Make the fabric water repellent again after the use of Tex Activ Cleaner.
4.2 Greasing
Clean the inside of the guides.
Apply a thin layer of grease (Isoflex® Topas L32) to the inside of the guides.
4.3 Tensioning outer fabric
Close the folding shade completely.
Locate the tensioning bolts:
The tensioning bolt (1) is mounted in the rear shoe (2) on the left hand and
right hand guide (3) at the rear side of the folding shade, near the drive
tubes (4).
To stretch the outer fabric and remove any wrinkles or folds, tighten the
tensioning bolts (1) evenly for the left and right guide.
Trouble shooting
Symptom | Possible cause | Possible solution |

Apply a thin layer of grease to the inside of the guides.
The door still does not open / close smoothly after
cleaning / greasing.| | Contact your dealer for maintenance and / or repair.
Fabric is folded / wrinkled when closed.| | Fasten the tensioning bolts to
stretch the fabric.
Initialization not possible.| Low power at motor| Check battery.
Increase wire thickness.
Manual operation
If necessary, the door can be operated manually. It depends on the situation
which procedure for manual operation you must follow.
CAUTION
Uncontrolled / inadvertent movements of the manual operation tool
Risk of injury and/or damage of components.
Do not operate the control switch during manual operation.
6.1 Manually moving the folding shade over less than 25 cm
Gain access to the motor assembly.
Insert the key in the slot of the motor.
Turn the key to close or open the folding shade.
NOTE
After manual operation the folding shade must be reinitialized.
Follow the steps in Re-initialization of the control system to perform
reinitialisation.
6.2 Manually moving the folding shade over more than 25 cm
In case the folding shade is closed and locked, first unlock it by opening the
folding shade for at least 10 cm as described in Manually moving the folding
shade over less than 25 cm.
Remove key for manual operation.
Gain access to the motor assemblies.
Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the motor.
Remove all bolts and washers (2).
Remove the motor.
Push the front beam to the desired (open or closed) position.
NOTE
After manual operation the folding shade must be reinitialized.
Follow the steps in Re-initialization of the control system to perform
reinitialisation.
6.3 Re-initialization of the control system
Make sure that the available power source meets the requirements as described
in Technical Data.
Press and hold the close button.
– The FS 2500 closes as far as possible.
Release the close button.
Press and hold the close button.
– After approx. 10 s the FS 2500 slides with small steps until it is
completely closed.
– The motor produces a loud click sound.
Release the close button.
– The control system has been initialized.
Open / close the FS 2500 several times.
Check smooth operation.
