(1)
Open your Moen app and make note of the pressure.

(2)

  1. Water Supply
  2. Shutoff

Locate and shut off water main prior to the Flo Smart Water Shutoff device (E) on the inlet side of the device. DO NOT shut off the water from the Smart Water Shutoff.

(3)
Open a faucet or shower fixture at the highest point in the house. Open fixtures on the lowest level to reduce pressure and allow water to drain from the system. Leave these fixtures in the open position for the duration of the installation.

(4)
Check the Flo Smart Water Shutoff device pressure reading. It should read near zero pressure. Compare this pressure against step 1. Any residual pressure in the device is an indicator that there is water downstream of the device (E). A little bit of pressure (up to 10 PSI) is to be expected.

(5)

Disconnect the power from the Smart Water Shutoff.

(6)

Place a bucket under the Smart Water Shutoff to catch the water draining from the lines.

(7)

Unscrew the Union Nuts (A) on both sides of the Smart Water Shutoff using channel lock pliers (3/4” or 1” versions) or an adjustable wrench (1-1/4” version).

(8)

Remove Smart Water Shutoff from the water line.

(9)

In a clean, dry area, discard the O-Rings (B) from the inlet and outlet of the Smart Water Shutoff.

(10)

Using needle-nose pliers to grip one of the vanes, gently pull out the Turbine Outlet (C). Caution: do not insert anything into the unit without disconnecting the power first.

(11)

Remove existing Turbine (D). Inspect the inside surfaces to ensure they are clean and free of residue and debris. Ensure to closely look at the turbine’s orientation.

(12)

Insert new Turbine (D) in the same orientation as the one removed. Note: the turbine is symmetric for models: 900-001, 900-006.

(13)

Replace Turbine Outlet (C). Ensure that it is seated completely against the outlet tube.

(14)

Apply Grease (F) to O-Ring seat, to hold them in place. Install new O-Rings (B). Ensure they are seated properly and fully within the O-Ring channel to prevent leaks.

(15)

  1. Correct waterflow direction
  2. Incorrect waterflow direction

Ensure the flow arrow is oriented in the correct direction and the O-rings are seated properly to prevent unintentional leaks.

(16)

Hold the device in line with the water main and hand tighten both Union Nuts (A).

(17)

Finish tightening both Union Nuts (A) one additional quarter turn with an adjustable wrench (1-1/4” version) or channel lock pliers (3/4” and 1” versions). Do not overtighten.

(18)

  1. Shutoff

Slowly open the main water shutoff partially and inspect for leaks. If there are leaks, re-evaluate to make sure that the o-rings are properly seated and that the Union Nuts are not over-tightened and still intact.

(19)
After all of the air in the lines is flushed out, close all open faucets in the house, starting with the fixtures in the lowest point of the home and ending with the highest point.

(20)
Re-connect the power to the Smart Water Shutoff by turning while pushing in to create a secure connection.

(21)
The status and valve light will turn on and then the valve light will turn green. Wait for both LED’s to turn solid green.

(22)
Open the Moen app and click on your device. Be sure all fixtures are off. Tap “Run Health Test”. After running a successful health test, scroll back to the top of the screen. Run some water and make sure that the device is registering Flow and Pressure Rates. If you continue to experience issues, and would like to troubleshoot further, please contact Moen customer support at: Moen Smart Home Support, 1-844-633-8356.
