DESCRIPTION

Pair of outdoor photocells with battery transmitter and wired receiver, infrared beam, adjustable.
The IRIS BAT version allows the synchronization of up to 8 pairs of photocells. IRIS BAT ADV version does not allow synchronization.

APPLICATION POSSIBILITIES

Pair of photocells for the protection of gates subject to the installation of automated and remotely controlled doors and gates. If the door control system performs the photocell diagnostic check before each movement, this product allows to realize a protection system type PL “c” -CAT 2 according to EN ISO 13849-1:2015. The diagnostic check consists of removing the power supply to the photo-receiver for at least the reset time () and verifying that the output contact is in the alarm position. After that the power can be restored.
Any installation and use different from what is indicated in the following manual are prohibited.**

INSTALLATION

Please read the safety warnings in this manual carefully before installing.

  1. Drill the bottom of the cable box (FIG.1-B).

  2. Fix the bottom of the box to the wall, bearing in mind the dimensions indicated in FIG.2.

  3. Determine the orientation of the optical medium to align the optics of the receiver and transmitter (FIG.4 and FIG.5).

  4. Tighten the screws of the locking device of the mobile holder (FIG.1-C).

  5. Insert the batteries into the transmitter (FIG.1-E).

  6. Connect the power to the receiver (FIG.1-L).

  7. Connect the relay output of the receiver to the associated product (FIG.1-M).

  8. Give power supply voltage to the receiver and check the correct alignment and operation of devices:
    RX| FREE PASSAGE / CONSENT| PASSAGE OCCUPIED / ALARM
    ---|---|---
    LED| OFF| ON
    3 – 4| open-circuit| close-circuit
    3 – 5| close-circuit| open-circuit

  9. . Close the front cover with supplied screws.

NOTICE OF REPLACEMENT OF BATTERIES

When the batteries on the transmitter are almost empty and reach a voltage of 2.1V, the receiver warns the user of the imminent need to replace the batteries by flashing continuously every second of the LED (FIG.1-F). During these reports the system is still working, but it is advisable to consider whether to proceed to the replacement of the batteries before the automation stop occurs.

CONFIGURING THE SYNCHRONIZATION

This option is not available in IRIS BAT ADV version.

Synchronised operation is required if multiple pairs of photocells are installed on the same gap, to prevent transmitters and receivers from interfering with each other.
Make the configuration this way:

  1. Connect the SYNC inputs of the transmitters respecting the polarities (FIG.9 and 10).

  2. Set each pair (RX and TX) to the same ID number. Different pairs must have different IDs.

  3. Using the DIP4 selector in the transmitters, select only one pair of photocells as MASTER. Set other pairs as SLAVE.

SIGNAL QUALITY TEST FUNCTION

This option is not available in IRIS BAT ADV version

This function allows you to visually understand the signal quality between the two photocells TX and RX. In this mode the receiver modulates the intensity of the LED according to the quality of the signal: the more the quality of the signal is good, the more the LED will be lit intensely; vice versa the more the quality of the signal is poor or absent, the more the led will be weak or off. When this function is active, the output of the receiver is always in alarm.

To activate this mode proceed as follows:

  1. Place the DIP4 selector in OFF of the receiver (TAB.3).
    DIP 4 – RX| NORMAL / TEST
    ---|---
    | ON = NORMAL FUNCTION
    | OFF = TEST MODE
  2. Perform the alignment operations.
  3. Once the alignment is finished, restore normal operation by moving the receiver DIP4 to the ON position.

MAINTENANCE

Before carrying out any cleaning, maintenance or replacement of parts, remove power to the automation. Every 12 months of activity, the following maintenance operations are mandatory:

  • Check and clean any dirt, insects and dust residues that have been placed inside.
  • Check the integrity of the cables and their connections, including clamping contact, and make the necessary replacements.
  • Perform a general and complete check of the screws and bolts.
  • Check the correct operation of the photocells.
  • Check battery status and replace if necessary

DAN GER

  • Read the instructions carefully before starting the installation and perform the interventions as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Installation, configuration, commissioning and maintenance must be carried out by qualified and experienced personnel and in full compliance with current regulations.
  • The equipment must be used exclusively for the purpose for which it was designed. Any other use is considered improper and therefore dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by improper, erroneous and unreasonable use.

  • The technical specifications in this document may be subject to change without notice.

  WARNING

  • Symbol The receiver photocell bases its operation on the detection of the light emitted by the transmitter. Therefore, the adequacy of protection must also take into account the following phenomena during installation.
    • The infrared radiation emitted by the transmitter can be reflected by metal bodies and reach the detector indirectly.
    • If direct sunlight hits the detector or causes saturation (blinding) resulting in the opening of the safety contact.
  • The photocell receiver is equipped with an amplifier circuit of high-gain light signals. Therefore, in situations of exposure to extremely strong electromagnetic disturbances could distort its operation. This risk can be mitigated by using a shielded cable to connect the receiver photocell to the associated product.
