SAFETY & WARNINGS

Read all instructions before using. Retain all instructions for future reference.

The kettle is rated 220-240V~50-60Hz 1850-2200 W. Ensure to the voltage supply at your home corresponds to this.
-
Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch a hot surface.
-
Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
-
Do not operate the kettle without anything in it to avoid damaging the heat elements.
-
Ensure that the kettle is used on a firm and flat surface out of reach of children, this will prevent the kettle from overturning and avoid damage or injury.
-
To protect against a fire, electric shock, or personal injury, do not immerse cord, electric plugs or kettle in water or other liquids.
-
If the cord is damaged, cease use immediately and contact Kogan.com.

While water is boiling or just after the water has been boiled, avoid contacting with steam from the spout.
-
Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping the kettle too fast.

Be careful of refilling when the kettle is hot.
-
If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

Do not touch the hot surface. Use the handle or the button.
-
The kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.
-
Ensure that the kettle is switched off before removing it from its stand.
-
The kettle must not be immersed into water.
-
Use caution when moving the kettle containing hot water.

This kettle is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the kettle in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the kettle.

The use of accessories, which are not recommended by the Kogan.com, may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.

Unplug the kettle from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the kettle to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the kettle.

To disconnect, turn the power switch to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.

Do not use the kettle for other than intended use.

Always ensure the lid is closed and do not lift it while the water is boiling. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

Do not operate the kettle on an inclined surface. Do not move the kettle while it is switched on.

Do not use this kettle outdoors.

This kettle is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
o Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
o Farm houses;
o By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
o Bed and breakfast type environments. -
To prevent damage to the kettle , do no use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning. Use a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Follow the instructions in the Care & Cleaning section to clean this kettle.

The 100°C button is used for boiling (short press) and to toggle the Wi-Fi

Blinking rapidly: Kettle is in pairing mode
Blinking slowly: Kettle is in AP mode
Note: When the Wi-Fi indicator is off, holding the power button for over
3 seconds, the Wi-Fi indicator will switch between blinking rapidly and
slowly. When Wi-Fi indicator is on, holding the power button for over 3
seconds will reset the Wi-Fi and clear data. You will need to reconnect the
device following the steps in the “Connect to Smarter Home™ APP” section.
Before Using Your Kettle
If you are using the kettle for the first time, it is recommended that you
should clean your kettle before use by boiling the Max capacity of water once
and then discarding the water twice. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
The maximum capacity of this kettle is 1.7 litres.
Using Kettle to Boil Water
Note: Do not fill the water over the ‘maximum’ line, as water may spill out of
the spout when boiling. Ensure that the lid is firmly in place before plugging
the power outlet.

Place the kettle and power base on a flat surface.
-
To fill the kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing down lid release button, then fill the kettle with the desired amount of water and close the lid. The water level must be within the Min and the Max level. Too little water will cause the kettle switching off before the water has boiled.

Plug into the power outlet and you will hear a beep.

Position the kettle on the power base.

Select a preset temperature from 70°C, 80°C, 90°C to 100°C. Press power button, the kettle starts heating. During the heating process, the indicator lights of the selected temperature button and the power button is turned on.

When water is heated to selected preset temperature, the indicator light of the selected temperature button continues to be solid and the power button indicator light is turned off.

Lift the kettle from the power base and then pour the water.
Note: Operate carefully when pouring the water from your kettle as boiling water may result in scald. Do not open the lid while the water in the kettle is hot. -
The kettle may be stored on the power base when not in use.
Note: It is recommended to refill the kettle after each use to save time and to avoid dry boiling.
Boiling Tips
- You can press the power button to stop the kettle during heating process.
- The kettle will enter sleep mode if you remove the kettle from the power base or no operation for more than 3 minutes during heating process. Replace the kettle on the power base and press any button, then the kettle will enter standby mode.
Using Keep-Warm Mode
Note: The appliance will enter the keep-warm mode after the water is heated
to a selected preset temperature for up to one hour.
- Follow the steps 1 to 4 in the Using Kettle to Boil Water section.
- Select a pre-set temperature from 70°C, 80°C to 90°C, its corresponding indicator light is turned on. Press the keep warm Button.
- Press the power button, the kettle starts heating. During heating, the indicator light of the selected preset temperature button and the power button is solid. The indicator light of the keep warm button blinks.
- When the water is heated to selected preset temperature, the kettle will stop heating and enter keep-warm mode automatically. The indicator light of the selected preset temperature button and the keep warm button light is solid. The power indicator light is turned off.
- The kettle will keep warm for an hour. During keep-warm process, the indicator light of selected preset temperature button and the keep warm button will continue to be solid.
- After this process, all the indicator lights are turned off and the kettle enters sleep mode.
- Lift the kettle from the power base and then pour the water.
Note: Operate carefully when pouring the water from your kettle as boiling water may result in scald. Do not open the lid while the water in the kettle is hot.
Keep-Warm Mode Tips

The kettle will reheat the water to the preset temperature and then stop heating if the water temperature is 3°C lower than the preset temperature during keep-warm process.
For example, if the pre-set temperature is 70°C, the kettle will reheat the water to 70°C and then stop heating if the water temperature is lower than 67°C during keeping warm process. -
You can press the power button or keep warm button to stop the kettle from keeping the water warm during keep-warm process.

Under keep-warm condition, remove the kettle from the power base for less than 3 minutes, then replace the kettle on the power base, the kettle will continue to keep the water warm based on the preset temperature.
Note: The appliance is programmed to first boil the water, then cool down naturally to the temperature that your select and keep warm for one hour.
Boiling with Keep-Warm Mode
- Follow the steps 1 to 4 in the Using Kettle to Boil Water section.
- Select your desired preset temperature “70°C”, “80°C” or “90°C”. Hold and press keep warm button more than 3 seconds, then press power button. The kettle will start heating the water to 100°C.
- After the water is heated to 100°C, it will cool down to the temperature of your choice and then keep the water warm for an hour.

Install App
Download the “Kogan Smarter Home” app from the Play Store (Android) or App
Store (iOS).

To register:
- If you already have a Smarter Home account, select ‘Log In’. To register a new account, select ‘Sign Up’.
- The system will automatically recognize your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap ‘Get Verification Code’ to continue.
- A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
- Continue to the next page and complete your Smarter Home profile.
Set device in pairing mode
When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode
which is indicated by the Wi-Fi indicator blinking rapidly.
If not connected within 10 minutes of initial start-up, pairing mode will time
out and the device will need to be manually set into pairing mode. To do this,
press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator starts
blinking rapidly.
No t e: If the Wi-Fi module is turned off, the device will not enter
pairing mode. To toggle the Wi-Fi module on/off, press and hold the 100°C
button until you hear a beep. Pressing and holding the power button will now
set the device into pairing mode or switch between standard and AP pairing
modes.
Add device through network

Once registered, tap “Add Device” on the app’s home page, or the “+” in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.

Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Kitchen Appliances > Kettles).

Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your Smarter Home™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup. Notes:
• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.
• Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in opposite order. -
Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator blinking rapidly, and tap “Confirm light is rapidly flashing”.

The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.

After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app’s home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page. Notes:
• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.
Having trouble connecting?
The prior steps detail the process for “EZ Mode” connection. If that does not
work for your connection, we suggest trying it again, and if still no success,
attempting the following method for AP Mode connection.
Set device in AP pairing mode
Follow steps 1-4 from the previous connection, until the device is in pairing
mode (with the Wi-Fi indicator blinking rapidly), then press and hold the
power button for 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator begins blinking slowly.
Using AP Mode to add device

Follow the previous steps to select your product type (Kitchen Appliances > Kettles).

Adjust your connection method by tapping on the mode type in the top-right corner of the screen. Select “AP Mode” for the set-up type.

Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator begins blinking slowly, and tap “Confirm light is slowly flashing”.

Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your Smarter Home™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup. Notes:
• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks. -
Follow the in-app prompts to continue AP Mode connection, which will pair your mobile phone to the device’s Wi-Fi hotspot to ensure a connection. This may be named “SL-Kogan Smart”, “Smart Life-XXXX”, or another similar name.
Note:
If the Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear on your phone in the list of available networks, your device may not be set in AP Pairing Mode correctly. Try repeating the steps outlined above to ensure your device is ready for connection. -
The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the Smarter Home™ device are kept close until connection is complete.

After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app’s home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.
Note:
Once connected, you can select Create Scene from the “+” in the upper right
corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected Smarter Home™ products and
automate their functions.
GOOGLE HOME CONTROL
Note:
You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan
Smarter Home™ device.
Adding “Smarter Home” to the Google Home app
- From the home page of the Google Home app, select the “+” icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the ‘Add and manage’ page.
- Select ‘Set up device’, then select the ‘Works with Google’ option.
- Select the search bar and type ‘Smarter Home’ to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
- From here, you will be prompted to sign into your Smarter Home™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
- Select “Kogan Smarter Home™” from the app options.
- Tap ‘Authorize’ to grant Google permission to access the Smarter Home™ app and your devices.
- Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your Smarter Home™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.
Note:
Please note that Google Home can only control the base/core functions of any
compatible Smarter Home™ devices. To make full use of this product’s smart
functionality, please use the Kogan Smarter Home™ app.
AMAZON ALEXA CONTROL
Note:
You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan
Smarter Home™ device.
Adding “Smarter Home” to the Alexa app
- From the home page of the Alexa app, select the “ ” icon in the bottom-right and select “Skills & Games” from the sidebar.
- Select the search bar and type ‘Smarter Home’ to locate the Kogan Smarter Home™ skill.
- Tap ‘Enable to Use’ to add the Kogan Smarter Home™ skill to Alexa.
- From here, you will be prompted to sign into your Smarter Home™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
- Select “Kogan Smarter Home™” from the app options.
- Tap ‘Authorize’ to grant Alexa permission to access the Smarter Home™ app and your devices.
- Once connected, the app will perform a search and display the devices linked to your Smarter Home™ account. When your devices have successfully connected to the Alexa app, you will be able to control your Kogan Smarter Home™ devices via Alexa’s voice commands.
Note:
Please note that Alexa can only control the base/core functions of any
compatible Smarter Home™ devices. To make full use of this product’s smart
functionality, please use the Kogan Smarter Home™ app.
SMARTERHOME™ APP OPERATION
Temperature Measurement Conversion
After the successful connection, the default temperature can be adjusted on
the app between 1°C and 100°C.
Tap “°C” or “F” at the lower right corner to switch between “°C” and “°F”.
Note: This feature allows you enter the kettle control interface by
tapping the icon on your smartphone home screen.
Add to Home Screen
- Tap the edit icon at the upper right corner and then tap Add to Home Screen.
- Follow the instructions of the app to continue.
Change the Kettle Name in the App
Note: This is an important setting to ensure you can control your kettle
effortlessly via your Alexa/Google Home smart speaker.
- Tap the edit icon at the upper right corner and then tap on the first bar stating the name of your kettle.
- Select Name to input a new name, then tap Confirm.
Share the Device Control
Note: To share the device control with the family members, ensure that
person has downloaded and registered the Kogan Smarter Home™ app.
- Tap the edit icon at the upper right corner and select Share Device.
- Tap Add Sharing and input the account details which has been registered with the app. The device-sharing is completed.
- The other registered user will then receive the notification on their smartphone app and will be able to start controlling the kettle.
App Notifications and Alerts
Note: Ensure you have enabled the push notifications in the Kogan Smarter
Home™ app to receive notifications and alerts.
Kettle Leave Alert
When the kettle is removed from the power base, the “Kettle Leave” alert
appears on the control page and the kettle cannot be operated from the app.
Boil-dry Alert
The kettle will enter the boil-dry protection mode if the kettle is operated
without water.
Upon dry boiling, the kettle will be turned off automatically. On the power
base, all indicators will keep blinking.
The app shows “Water Less” alert and a notification will be sent to your
smartphone. The kettle cannot be operated by the app.
- Press and hold the 100°C temperature button for more than 3 seconds, all indicators on the power base will begin blinking.
- Follow the instructions in the Connect to Smarter Home™ App section to complete the connection.
- Refill the kettle with cool water. The kettle can be operated normally again.
Note: Be careful to not touch the hot surface during this operation.
Wake-up Function and Scheduling
You can schedule the date and time the kettle can start boiling the water.
To schedule:
- From the control page, go to Add Schedule screen.
- Set the date and time you would like the kettle can start boiling. You can set it as one-off task or as a recurring activity.
Wake-up Notifications
Note: When you have turned on the notification button, you will receive a
notification even when you are not using the app. The notification will pop-up
and then disappear.
A wake-up push notification (“Schedule Task – Started”) will be sent once the
kettle is turned on (by either the schedule setting or manually). Another push
notification (“Schedule Task – Completed”) will be sent once the kettle has
completed boiling.
Temperature Memory Function
When the kettle is removed from the power base and then placed on the power
base again or is reconnected after power off, the temperature from the last
setting will be applied automatically.
Temperature Button Indicators
When the temperature of 70°C, 80°C, 90°C or 100°C is selected on the app, its
corresponding indicator on the power base will be illuminated. They will not
illuminate if other temperature values on the app is selected.
Keep-Warm Function on the App
The keep-warm function can be turned on or turned off from the app at any time
and the maximum keep-warm temperature is 95°C.
Wi-Fi Memory Feature
After the kettle is reconnected to the power, it will enter the Wi-Fi
connecting mode by default. It will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network
it was connected to before the power off.
VOICE COMMANDS
Controlling Kettle via Alexa/Google Home
Note: The below voice commands work only when the kettle is on and
heating process is in progress.
After successfully connecting your smart kettle to the voice command assistant
of your choice (Google Home or Amazon Alexa), ensure both the device in the
assistant app and the device in the Kogan Smarter Home™ app are listed with
the same. For example, if you have named your kettle as “Smart Kettle” in the
Kogan Smarter Home™ app, then you should ask your Alexa/Google Home smart
speaker to turn on “Smart Kettle”.
Switch On/Off
To turn on your kettle remotely, provide the following voice command to your
assistant app:
“turn on the kettle”. The temperature from the last setting will be applied
automatically.
Upon reaching target temperature, the kettle will switch off automatically.
You can also turn the kettle off remotely via smart speaker.
Set the Temperature
To set the temperature, provide the following voice command to your assistant
app: “set the kettle to 70°C”. The kettle will heat up directly to the target
temperature after the command.
Check the Temperature
To check the temperature, provide the following voice command to your
assistant app when the kettle is on: “what is the current temperature of the
kettle?” The kettle will respond saying: “the kettle is set to X degrees and
the current temperature is Y degrees”.
Note: You can change the target temperature only after turning on the
kettle.
CLEANING & CARE
Always disconnect the kettle from the power outlet and cool it down completely before cleaning.
- Never immerse/submerge the kettle, power cord or power base in water or allow moisture to contact with these parts.
- Wipe the appearance of body with a damp cloth or cleaner, never use a poisonous cleaner.
- Remember to clean the filter at intervals. For easier cleaning, detach the filter by pressing down the tab of filter inside the kettle and then replace it after cleaning.
- CAUTION: Do not use chemical, steel, wooden or abrasive cleaners to clean the outside of the kettle to prevent the gloss loss.
Removal of Mineral Deposits
Your kettle should be periodically descaled as the mineral deposits in tap
water may form scale on the bottom of kettle, leading to less efficient
operation. You can use a commercially available descaler and follow the
instructions on the package of descaler.
Alternatively, you may follow below instructions using white vinegar:
- Fill the kettle with 3 cups of white vinegar, then adding water to the amount to cover the bottom of kettle completely.
- Leave the solution in the kettle overnight, then discard the solution.
- Fill the kettle with clean water to the maximum position, run to boil, and then discard the water.
- Repeat step 3 several times until the odour of vinegar has been flushed away. Any stains remaining inside the spout can be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth.
Disposal
