**** Safety warnings
- The AR16 air compressor must NOT be used for anything other than the uses covered in this instruction manual.
- The use of the AR16 by several people at the same time is pointless, and, anyway, it is not allowed for safety reasons.
- The electrical installation must be match the voltage, frequency and power draw of the motor and the cables must be of an appropriate cross section.
- The AR16 air compressor is NOT suitable for use in areas where there is a potentially explosive atmosphere.
- Take care to place your AR16 air compressor on a smooth and stable surface so that the machine will be stable while you work.
- Safety glasses must always be worn to prevent any dust or flying objects there may be from reaching the operator’s eyes.
- Secure the AR16 air compressor properly and apply the wheel locks when transporting it.
- Should you have any doubts about the proper functioning of the compressor or its components, please contact TEINNOVA Technical Assistance Service on +34 941 44 50 56.
- Do not open the control box of your AR16 air compressor. In the event of a fault, please contact TEINNOVA Technical Assistance Service on +34 941 44 50 56.
Conditions of use
The AR16 is a machine for generating compressed air by means of a boxer type
double-piston system. It is essential to its proper operation to maintain free
space around the machine for ventilation while working. The distance between
the air generator and any obstacle or wall must be greater than 1.5 meters.
Any other use is strictly forbidden without the written permission of
the manufacturer.
The machine may only be controlled by authorised and properly trained
personnel, or at least those with sufficient technical experience.

Operating instructions
Using the compressor:
① Preparing your AR16:
- Fit the wheels and the anti-vibration support, remove the cap from the compressor head and screw in the intake filter, if it is not already fitted.
- Remove the plug from the crankcase cover and insert the dipstick.
- Carefully check that the oil level is between the maximum and minimum values on the dipstick.
**** After the first 5 hours the lubricant must be completely replaced with one of the oils listed below.
② Starting-up your AR16
- Once the preparation operations have been completed, the compressor can start working. Check that the switch is in the OFF position.
- Plug in the cable and start the compressor by putting the pressure controller switch in the ON position.
- The first time the machine is used, leave the compressor on for about 10 minutes with the air vents fully open.
- After this time, close the air vents and check that the compressor fills the tank and stops automatically when the maximum pressure shown on the compressor plate and visible on the pressure gauge is reached.
③Regulating the working pressure of your AR16
For correct use, you must check the instruction manual for the optimum
pressure for the accessory to be used Using the reducer D, it is possible to
set the compressed air pressure at the outlet to the desired value.
To perform this operation, simply turn the knob in a clockwise direction to
increase the pressure and counter-clockwise to decrease it. This pressure is
shown on the pressure gauge E.
After use, we recommend resetting the pressure value to zero. This is done so
that the pressure reducer does not deteriorate so quickly.
④ Motor protector
The single-phase compressor has been fitted with a safety and motor protection
device called Motor Protector E. This device is activated when the motor
overheats, and after a malfunction. Under these circumstances, the motor
protector operates automatically, cutting the power supply and preventing the
motor from being damaged. It is advisable to wait for 5 minutes before
manually resetting the motor protector and starting the compressor.
Transport
The machine has been designed to be transportable in a small van.
During transport the machine must be firmly secured to prevent any damage. It
must also be placed in its normal working position (vertical) and the brakes
on the wheels applied.
It is not advisable to place the machine on a pallet or similar. The machine
must be on a completely flat and horizontal surface.
The machine must be transported in its operating position. Never lying down.
Maintenance and care
Maintenance:
After the first 50 hours:
Check the tightness of all bolts, especially the bolts of the cylinder head
and base.
Replace the oil.
NEVER mix oils different types.
DO NOT dispose of the oil into the environment.
Weekly:
Check the oil level and, if necessary, add ONLY oil of the same type (never
exceed the max. level).
Drain the condensation by opening the stopper located under the tank and close
it again when only air is flowing out.
Every month (or more frequently if used in dusty environments):
Remove the intake filter and replace it (if damaged) or clean the filter
element.
PAPER filter: spray compressed air from the inside out.
FOAM filter: wash with detergent, rinse and dry thoroughly.
METAL filter: wash with non-greasy solvent and spray with compressed air.
Never operate the compressor without the intake filter.
Every 6 months:
Replace the oil (with the compressor hot): remove the dipstick, unscrew bolt A
and collect the used oil in a container.
Screw bolt A back in, and fill with new oil up to the max. level.
First use oil: Mineral oil 15W-50.
Never mix different oils.
Thoroughly clean all parts with cooling fins.
Every 2 years:
Check the check valve and, if necessary, replace the flow control part D.
Check the intake and outlet valves.
Keep the machine as clean as possible. Keep the equipment in a place protected
from the weather.
Once the work is finished, remember to release the compressor’s internal
pressure. The AR16 air compressor must not be started while there is still
internal pressure, as the machine could be seriously damaged.
Do NOT use flammable liquids to clean the AR16 air compressor, nor products
that do not comply with current regulations.
There is a forced air cooling system, generated by a built-in fan, and passing
over all the parts fitted with fins, both the motor and the head. While your
AR16 is operating, dust particles will be fall onto the surfaces creating a
thermal barrier. Therefore, the external surfaces of the compressor must be
kept clean to ensure efficient cooling of the machine.
Your AR16 has a fast-acting thermal circuit breaker as a safety system that
cuts off the power in the event of a heavy overload or a failure to start due
to low voltage.
The compressor must not be started while there is still internal pressure as
serious damage to the equipment may occur. To release this pressure, leave
your compressed air powered TEGRAS tool running with the compressor switched
off.
** It is advisable to switch off the compressor during long periods of
inactivity (> 15 min) to avoid premature wear of its components.
Spare Parts:**
TEINNOVA stocks spare parts for all the machine’s components as well as
consumables for all the maintenance tasks shown in this manual.
If you need any spare part or consumable, please contact TEINNOVA Customer
Service at +34 941 44 50 56.
