RAD POWER BIKES 15-0246-000 Hardshell Spare Lock Core

Product Information

The Hardshell Spare Lock Cores are designed to allow the use of a single key- cut across multiple Rad Power Bikes accessories, including the Hardshell Locking Pannier, the Hardshell Locking Box, and other hardshell accessories (sold separately). With this lock core, you only need to keep track of one type of key to unlock all your accessories.

Tools Needed:
Before using this accessory, make sure to read and understand all warnings in this document and the owner’s manual that shipped with your bike. The latest version of these instructions and your owner’s manual are available at radpowerbikes.com/help (USA/Canada) or radpowerbikes.eu/help (Europe).

Installation:

  1. Prepare the accessory by turning off the bike and removing the accessory if it is currently attached to your bike.
  2. Remove the existing lock core on your accessory:
    • a. Locate the lock core on the inside of your accessory. Use a Phillips Head screwdriver to loosen the retaining screw in the end of the lock core. Remove the retaining screw, lock washer, and the L-bracket (Figure 2). Reuse or recycle these parts according to local rules.
    • b. Use a 22 mm or adjustable wrench to turn the nut on the lock core counter-clockwise to loosen it. Then remove the nut, large washer, and existing lock core from the outside of the accessory by hand (Figure 3). Reuse or recycle these parts according to local rules.
    • c. Ensure the o-ring stays installed and seated evenly. Your accessory has an o-ring that helps seal the space between the lock core and accessory (Figure 4). Check if it has fallen out during lock core removal. This o-ring must be installed for your accessory to function properly.
  3. Install the new lock core:
    • a. Insert the new lock core into the accessory so the keyhole is visible from the outside when the accessory lid is closed.
    • b. Thread the nut clockwise onto the lock core from the inside of the accessory (Figure 5). Then use a 22 mm or adjustable wrench to tighten the nut securely against the lock core.
    • c. Install the L-bracket from the inside of the accessory and position it in the unlocked position (Figure 6). Insert the lock washer and retaining screw into the end of the lock core. Thread in the retaining screw by hand and use a Phillips Head screwdriver to tighten until fully seated and secure (Figure 5). Do not overtighten.
    • d. Ensure all parts are secure.
  4. Test the lock:

    • a. Close and lock the accessory with the new key. If the lock does not fully engage, refer to the illustrations to ensure the lock bolt components are properly installed.
    • b. Note the laser-engraved code on the face of your new keys (Figure 8) and new lock core (Figure 9). Use this code in case you need to reorder keys. You can also make copies of your key.

HARDSHELL SPARE LOCK CORE

OVERVIEW

The Hardshell Spare Lock Cores are designed to allow the use of a single key- cut across multiple Rad Power Bikes accessories, including the Hardshell Locking Pannier, the Hardshell Locking Box, and other hardshell accessories (sold separately). That way, you only have to keep track of one type of key to unlock your accessories.

CONTENTS:

  • Hardshell Spare Lock Core x4
  • Key x2

TOOLS NEEDED:

  • 22 mm wrench or adjustable wrench
  • Phillips Head screwdriver

WARNING: Before using this accessory, you MUST read and understand all warnings in this document AND the owner’s manual that shipped with your bike. INSTALLATION

  1. Prepare the accessory. If the lock core you’re replacing is on an accessory that is currently attached to your bike, turn off the bike and remove the accessory.
  2. Remove the existing lock core on your accessory.
  3. Locate the lock core on the inside of your accessory. Use a Phillips Head screwdriver to loosen the retaining screw in the end of the lock core. Remove the retaining screw, lock washer, and the L-bracket (Figure 2 ). Reuse or recycle these parts according to local rules.
  4. Use a 22 mm or adjustable wrench to turn the nut on the lock core counter-clockwise to loosen it. Then remove the nut, large washer, and existing lock core from the outside of the accessory by hand (Figure 3 ). Reuse or recycle these parts according to local rules.

Install the new lock core.

  1. Insert the new lock core into the accessory so the keyhole is visible from the outside when the accessory lid is closed.
  2.  Thread the nut clockwise onto the lock core from the inside of the accessory (Figure 5 ). Then use a 22 mm or adjustable wrench to tighten the nut securely against the lock core.
  3. Install the L-bracket from the inside of the accessory and position it in the “unlocked” position (Figure 6 ). Insert the lock washer and retaining screw into the end of the lock core. Thread in the retaining screw by hand and use a Phillips Head screwdriver to tighten until fully seated and secure (Figure 5 ). Do not overtighten.
  4. Ensure all parts are secure.

Test the lock.

  1. Close and lock the accessory with the new key. If the lock does not fully engage, refer to the illustrations to ensure the lock bolt components are properly installed.
  2. Note the laser-engraved code on the face of your new keys (Figure 8 ) and new lock core (Figure 9 ). Use this code in case you need to reorder keys. You can also make copies of your key.
  3. Reinstall the accessory and ride Rad!
