THROTTLE DISCONNECT KIT

NOTICE :

If you are not confident in your ability to perform all steps successfully and safely, we recommend having the work performed or checked by a local, certified, and reputable bike mechanic.

WARNING:

Disconnecting your throttle will reduce your ability to accelerate rapidly, and if you do not adapt your riding style to this change, you could increase your risk of an accident, serious injury, or death. If you disconnect your throttle, be sure to practice stopping, starting, and accelerating your ebike in a safe area away from other vehicles before you try riding your bike in busier areas or on roads.

USE. This Throttle Disconnect Kit is intended for customers who need to deactivate their throttle because they ride their ebike in an area where
throttles are not legal.

TOOLS NEEDED:

Zip ties
Flat-side cutters

The Throttle Disconnect Kit from Rad Power Bikes

INSTALLATION:

The following installation procedure is valid for all Rad Power Bikes e bikes, even if they look different from the one pictured.

Get the bike ready for maintenance. Turn off the bike and remove the battery.
Discharge remaining power. If your bike has an LCD Display, press and hold the MODE button on the Display Remote. If your bike has
an LED display, press the power button.
Locate the throttle connector. Trace the cable from the throttle to the connector at the front of the bike.
Loosen the throttle connector from the other cables. Use the flatside cutters to snip open the zip ties securing the throttle cable to the
other cables.
Unplug the throttle connector. Pull each side of the throttle connector apart, without twisting, to unplug. The connector will be orange on the inside, have three pins on one side, and three pin holes on the other side.
Locate the throttle disconnect caps. One of the caps will have internal pins, and the other will have slots for such pins.
Install the throttle disconnect caps. Start with one of the throttle cable connectors. If it has internal pins, install it on the cap that has slots for those pins. If the cap has slots, install it on the side of the throttle connector with pins. To install each cap/connector pair, align the internal notch and pins (and external arrows) and press together without twisting.
NOTICE : Make sure you push the caps all the way onto the ends of the connectors to ensure the connectors will be water resistant.
See your owner’s manual for more information on preventing damage to your bike from exposure to the elements, moisture, and corrosive
substances.
Secure the throttle cable away from moving parts. Use zip ties to secure each side of the throttle cable to the bundle of cables at the front of the bike. Use your flat-side cutters to trim off the excess portion of the zip ties so that there are no sharp edges remaining.
Rotate the handlebar to make sure there is enough cable slack.
Reinstall the battery, test the bike fully before riding, and ride Rad!
