Product Information

The Malloy 18 Open Frame Forged Lantern (Item # MF5103) is a light fixture that should be installed in accordance with all applicable, local installation codes. It is important to have a person familiar with the construction and operation of the fixture, as well as the hazards involved, to perform the installation. The fixture does not include bulbs.

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Slotted Screwdriver
  • Slip Joint Pliers
  • Measuring Tape
  • Wire Strippers
  • Chain Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Carefully remove all parts from the box and place them on a clean, soft surface.
  2. Install the mounting plate (B) to the junction box using the provided mounting screws (C).
  3. Secure the collar loop (D) to the mounting plate (B) by tightening the locknut with pliers.
  4. Attach the canopy (E) to the collar loop (D) and secure it with the collar ring (F).
  5. Determine the desired overall length and amount of chain (H) needed. Shorten the chain using chain pliers, keeping the extra chain.
  6. Attach the chain (H) to the collar loop (D) and fixture loop (I) using quick links (G). Secure the quick links.
  7. Hang the fixture cluster (J) to the hook on the bottom of the fixture loop (I), then pass the fixture wires through the hole in the fixture frame.
  8. Thread the fixture wire and ground wire through the chain (H). When reaching the collar loop (D), ensure there is no tension on the wires. Cut any excess wires, leaving enough to reach the junction box.
  9. Separate the two sides of the molded wire and strip insulation on each side by 5/8 inch.
  10. Loosen the collar ring (F) and carefully let the canopy (E) slip down the chain (H).
  11. Twist all fixture wires together and slip them through the center hole of the collar loop (D). Untwist and separate the wires to prepare for connection.
  12. Wrap the fixture ground wire (bare copper) around the green grounding screw and tighten it. Continue connecting the fixture ground wire to the supply ground wire using a wire nut (A).
  13. Connect the fixture neutral wire (ribbed) to the supply neutral wire (usually white) using a wire nut (A).
  14. Connect the fixture hot wire (smooth with markings) to the supply hot wire (usually black) using a wire nut (A). Ensure that the hot and neutral connections are not reversed.
  15. Make sure all wire connections are tight and carefully tuck them into the junction box.
  16. Install the canopy (E) to the collar loop (D) and secure it with the collar ring (F).
  17. Install light bulbs into the sockets.

Care Instructions

Clean the fixture only with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. Do not use abrasive or chemical agents.

NOTICE: This light fixture should be installed in accordance with all applicable, local installation codes, and by a person familiar with the construction and operation of it, as well as the hazards involved. Inspect item and contents carefully. If any damage or defect is found, do not install. Retain all packaging material until installation is complete and approved.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Carefully remove all parts from the box. Place on a clean, soft surface.
  2. Install mounting plate (B) to the junction box and secure it with mounting screws (C).
  3. Secure collar loop (D) to mounting plate (B) using pliers to tighten the locknut.
  4. Install canopy (E) to collar loop (D) and secure with collar ring (F).
  5. Determine desired overall length, and amount of chain (H) needed. Shorten the chain using chain pliers. (Keep extra chain)
  6. Attach chain (H) to collar loop (D) and fixture loop (I) using quick links (G). Secure quick links (G).
  7. Hang fixture cluster (J) to hook on the bottom of fixture loop (I), then pass fixture wires through the hole in the fixture frame.
  8. Thread fixture wire and ground wire through the chain (H).
    • NOTE: When you reach the collar loop (D), ensure there is no tension on the wires. Cut excess wires, being sure to leave enough to reach the junction box.
  9. Separate two sides of molded wire, and strip insulation on each 5/8″.
  10. Loosen collar ring (F) and let canopy (E) slip down chain (H) carefully.
  11. Twist all fixture wires together, and slip through the center hole of the collar loop (D).
    • NOTE: Untwist wires and separate them to prepare for connection.
  12. Wrap fixture ground wire (bare copper) around the green grounding screw (see diagram 1). Tighten. Continue fixture ground wire and connect to supply ground wire (usually green or bare copper) using wire nut (A).
    • NOTE: It is imperative that the fixture is grounded.
  13. Connect fixture neutral wire (ribbed) to the supply neutral wire (usually white) using wire nut (A).
  14. Connect the fixture hot wire (smooth with markings) to the supply hot wire (usually black) using wire nut (A).
    • CAUTION: Do not reverse the hot and neutral connections.
  15. Make sure all wire connections are tight, then carefully tuck them into the junction box.
  16. Install canopy (E) to collar loop (D) and secure with collar ring (F).
