  3. Never use the scarifier if the bag is not correctly in place.

Removing and emptying the bog
Empty the bag at regular intervals during the work. Do not wait until it is full. It is recommended to empty it when it is half full.

  1. Lift up the ejector flap and lift the bag off the mounting hooks to remove it.
  2. Empty the bag in a suitable container. Replace the bag before resuming the work.

HOW TO USE

  • Always check the power cord, plug and all accessories for damage before using the scarifier. Do not use the scarifier if it is damaged, or worn.

  • Always check before use that all the accessories are correctly fitted.

  • Hold the handle and push the scarifier forward. Keep the grips dean, dry and free from oil and grease.

  • Keep the ventilation openings free from impurities and blockages. Clean with a soft brush when necessary. The scarifier can overheat and be damaged if the ventilation openings are blocked.

  • Keep other people, especially children, and pets at a safe distance from the work area. Switch off the scarifier and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before leaving it.

  • Use suitable safety equipment and take regular pauses.

  • Mow the lawn before working and spread fertilizer afterwards.

  • Carefully inspect the area where the scarifier is to be used and remove any stones, wires, bones or other foreign objects that can damage the scarifier or the motor.

  • Choose a suitable working depth for the height of the grass.

  • Do not use the scarifier in very wet grass, which will fasten on the underside and prevent the proper ejection of collected material. Wet ground also increases the risk of slipping and falling.

  • Push the scarifier forward at a suitable speed. Do not move the scarifier too quickly, this can cause the ejector to get blocked and overheat the motor.

  • Overlap each row a little. The most effective working pattern is straight woos along one side of the lawn. This works the ground uniformly without missing any patches.
    FIG. 10
    Illustrations

  • Work round flowerbeds. When you come to a flowerbed in the middle of the lawn, make one or two turns round the flowerbed.

  • Be very careful when changing direction.

USE

  1. The power consumption for the scarifier motor is 12 A. Depending on the accessories the scarifier is intended to be used for scarifying and raking private gardens.
  2. The specially shaped blades on the scarifier scratch through and between the blades of grass and remove unwanted material from the lawn without damaging the grass. The scarifier also makes vertical incisions in the ground, which improves oxygenation.
  3. When raking the thin pins rake the surface of the lawn and collect up debris, which improves oxygenation, aeration and drainage.
  4. Do not expose the scarifier to rain or moisture, and do not use it in dry, wet or very high grass or to shred leaves.
  5. The scarifier is only intended for household use. The scarifier must only be used as it is intended to be used and in accordance with these instructions.

HOW TO USE

WARNING!

  • Check before starting that the moving parts on the scarifier are not in contact with any foreign objects. Keep your hands and feet away from the ejector opening and moving parts. Failure to follow these instructions can lead to the risk of serious personal injury.
  • The cylinder continues to rotate for a short while after the scarifier has been switched off. Do not tilt or lift the scarifier when the motor is running and do not touch the cylinder until it has completely stopped. Failure to follow these instructions can lead to the risk of serious personal injury.

Scarifying

Take the weather into consideration when scarifying. Deeper scarifying should be done in April or May, because the lawn then has more time to recover during the season. If it has been a rainy summer, carry out scarifying with less depth during the late summer. Do not rake during long hot periods. Do not scarify in the autumn if there has been a dry summer.

Raking

In order for the grass to grow well in the spring, air must be able to penetrate down to the grass roots. Raking should be carried out every 4th or 6th week, depending on grass growth.

Overload protection

The overload protection will trip in the following situations.

  1. If accumulated material blocks the cutter unit.
  2. If the motor is too weak to handle the material fed in.
  3. If the cutter unit is blocked.

If the overload protection trips, switch off the scarifier, pull out the plug and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped.

Allow the scarifier to cool and rectify the reason before starting it again.

Choice of cutter unit

The scarifier has two functions: scarifying and raking. The scarifying cylinder is pre-assembled on delivery. The raking cylinder is supplied in the accessory box. Change cylinders, depending on use.

  1. Rake cylinder with sprung metal pins
  2. Scarifier cylinder with blades
