Congratulations on the purchase of your Quick Haul, a compact utility bicycle. The following Guide will help you get started with your Quick Haul while highlighting some of its key features. Intended Use

  • Your Quick Haul is designed for individual personal use: riding with both wheels in contact with paved roads or graded and maintained gravel roads. This Tern bike is not intended for racing, jumps, hops, wheelies, or similar activities that may cause damage to the bicycle and risk injury or death to the rider.
  • The warranty will be void if your Quick Haul is not used in accordance with the intended usage.
  • The warranty is enclosed separately from your Quick Haul
  • If your Quick Haul was not purchased locally from a Tern-authorized source, it may not have the correct drive assistance settings and may not be used on public roads.
  • Only child seats that conform to EN 14344 can be used with the Quick  Haul. To see which child seats and attachment methods have been tested and approved, please refer to the Tern website.
  • If your child seat has not been tested by Tern, check with the child seat manufacturer for information concerning compatibility and proper installation.

Weight and Loading

To safely operate the Quick Haul, you must observe the following:

  • The maximum gross vehicle weight of your Quick Haul should not exceed 150 kg (330 b). The gross vehicle weight is defined as the total weight of the bike, batteries, passengers), accessories, and cargo.
  • Maximum rider weight should not exceed 120 kg (265 lb).
  • The weight of the Quick Haul without a battery is 20.4 kg (45 lb), depending on your model.
  • If the capacity stated above differs from your Quick Haul’s CE Frame Stickers, follow the CE Frame Sticker.
  • The maximum limit for the Combo Mount is 20 kg (44 lb).
  • For accessories, please consult the manual included with each accessory.

First Ride

  1. Read all the instruction manuals of the components that are supplied with your Quick Haul. If anything is unclear, ask your dealer before riding off.tern-Quick-Haul-P9-Affordable-Electric-Cargo-Bike-FIG-5
  2. Check the tire pressure and make sure it is within the minimum and maximum values indicated on the sidewalls of the tires.
  3. Adjust the saddle height to the preferred position. Make sure the latch is secured tightly.

  5. Press® to power on the Operating Unit.
  6. Select the level of assistance.
    • Press “+” 6 to increase.
    • Press “-“© to decrease.
    • The selected mode is shown at d).
  7. The following assistance levels are available:
  8. OFF: The motor assistance is switched off. The e-bike can be operated as a normal bicycle through pedaling.
  9. ECO: Effective assistance at maximum efficiency for maximum cruising range.
  10. TOUR: Uniform assistance, for touring with a long cruising range.
  11. SPORT: Powerful assistance for sporty road-riding, as well as for urban traffic.
  12. TURBO: Maximum assistance, supporting the highest speed for sporty riding.
  13. The walk assistance aids you when pushing your Quick Haul. The speed of this function depends on the selected gear and can reach a maximum of 6 km/h (3.7 mph). To activate the walk assistance, briefly press the WALK @ button on your Operating Unit. After activation, press the “+ “6 button within 3 seconds and keep it pressed. The e-bike drive is switched on.
    Note : The walk assistance cannot be activated at assistance level OFF.

The walk assistance is switched off as soon as one of the following occurs

  • You release the “+” 6 button;
  • The wheels of the e-bike are prevented from turning (e.g. by braking or being hit by your leg);
  • The speed exceeds 6 km/h (3.7 mph).
  • Use gears as you would on a conventional bicycle to maintain an efficient cadence for your riding style. This will maximize the efficiency of the assistance to your power input and prevent premature wear on the drive system.
  • Note the drive assistance is limited to:
    • 25 km/h in countries that follow the EU standard
    • 32 km/h (20 mph) for Class 1 in countries that follow the USA standard
    • 45 km/h (28 mph) for Class 3 in countries that follow the USA standard
    • Practice handling the bike in a safe area before riding on public roads.

Lighting

To power on, press and hold the Purion’s + button for 3 seconds. For bike models using the Intuvia Display, the front, and rear lights can be switched on and off at the same time via the on-board computer using the bike light button 9).
You may be required to turn on the lights at all times, including daytime riding. Please check your local regulations. The front light beam angle must be adjusted downwards so as not to blind oncoming traffic.

Vertical Parking

  1. Apply the rear brake.
  2. Pull up on the handlebar and walk backward.
  3. Make sure all support points touch the ground evenly.
  4. In public areas, hold the bike to prevent it from accidentally falling over.
  5. Before leaving a vertically parked bike unattended, first strap the bike to a fixed object to prevent it from falling.
