APPLIANCE DESCRIPTION
BEFORE THE FIRST USE
Before you use the appliance for the first time, please do as follows: Unpack
the appliance carefully and remove all the packaging material and any
promotional stickers. Keep the material (plastic bags and cardboard) out of
reach of children.
Check the appliance after unpacking for any visible damage, that could be
caused by transportation.
Before plugging into a socket, check that the voltage in your home corresponds
with the voltage printed at the bottom of the appliance. Place the appliance
on a stable and heat resistant surface.
Wipe the housing of the appliance only with a damp cloth. Note: the new
appliance can give off a bit of smoke and the typically ‘new’ smell. It is
therefore advisable to switch the appliance on several times at the highest
setting without bread inside.
Use the toaster only for toasting bread. Do not prepare sandwiches in the
toaster. If you do, cheese and fat can come onto the heating elements which
can shorten the lifetime of the appliance.
TOASTING BREAD
The toaster is suited to toast two slices of bread at once. Put the plug into the socket.
- Adjust the browning control with the control knob.
- Place one or two slices of bread into the toasting slot.
- Push the bread lift lever straight down to lower the slices.
- Once the toasting cycle has finished, the appliance will automatically switch off and the lever will return to it’s original position, lifting the toasted slices.
The browning level is adjustable; position 1 is light and position 6 is dark.
The toaster can automatically compensate the heat. This means that when you
directly toast another slice of bread, the toaster calculates the temperature
of the device and adjusts the toasting time. This will ensure that your second
slice of bread has the same browning as the first one.
You can stop the toasting process by turning the control knob to the CANCEL
position.
The appliance will automatically switch off and the lever will return to it’s
original position, lifting the toasted slices.
The toasting time depends on the dampness of the bread and the thickness of
the slice. If you only place one slice into the toaster, it is possible the
slice will brown more on the same setting. Select a lower setting of the
browning level.
If for whatever reason, a piece of bread is caught into the toasting slots, do
not try to remove it immediately. Use the hi-lift function to lift the piece
of bread higher to remove it easier. If this does not work, unplug the toaster
and leave it to cool down first. Than try to remove the piece carefully
without touching the heating elements.
Never place bread rolls directly on the toaster to prevent damage to the
appliance.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wipe the outside of the housing
with a damp cloth and dry.
Never use any abrasives! Never immerse the appliance into water or other
liquids.
Remove the crumbtray at the bottom of the toaster for easy cleaning of the
inside. Pull the crumbtray carefully at the handle from the side of the
toaster. Remove the crumbs and clean the crumbtray with a damp cloth. Slide
the crumbtray back into the toaster after cleaning. Check the correct
placement of the crumbtray before re-use.
