CAL-ROYAL N-FMR9800 Series Mortise Exit Device
Cal-Royal N-FMR9800 Series Mortise Exit Device Installation Instructions
The Cal-Royal N-FMR9800 Series Mortise Exit Device is designed to provide a secure exit from a building in case of an emergency. Before installing the device, please check the following:
- If the door is fitted and hung
- The size, function, and design of the exit device. The device can be cut to fit doors down to:
- 30 inches wide for 36 inch doors
- 36 inches wide for 48 inch doors
- The hand of the device against application. There are three options:
- Out
- Left hand reverse bevel
- Right hand reverse bevel
The surface of the door for the exit device applied must be flushed. The rail mounting bracket, chassis assembly, and head cover should be installed as per the instructions provided in the manual.
Apply Exterior Trims
If ESC lever trim is used, attach outside trim and cylinder. Horizontal and vertical chassis options are available with left hand reverse bevel (LHRB).
Product Usage Instructions
- Prepare door and mount lock by taping templates to inside face and edge of doors according to directions given on template. Drill holes and mortise door for lock as indicated.
- Fasten mortise lock in plate.
- If screwless rose trim is used, refer to trim instructions and mount lock in conjunction with rose and inner plates.
Note : The finished floor should be measured from the template or from the relationship to strike using #1 2-24×1 screws.
BEFORE INSTALLING DEVICE, PLEASE CHECK
- IF DOOR FITTED AND HUNG.
- SIZE OF EXIT DEVICE, FUNCTION AND DESIGN …
- 36″DOORS, CAN BE CUT TO FIT DOORS DOWN TO 30″ WIDE.
- 48″DOORS, CAN BE CUT TO FIT DOORS DOWN TO 36″ WIDE.
- HAND OF DEVICE AGAINST APPLICATION.
PREPARE DOOR AND MOUNT LOCK
Tape templates to inside face and edge of doors according to directions given on template. Drill holes and mortise door for lock as indicated Fasten mortise lock in plate
NOTE :lf screwless rose trim is used — refer to trim instructions and mount lock in conjunction with rose and inner plates
ATTACH CHASSIS TO DOOR
- Attach chassis to Rail, then lock push rail down.using
- Position chassis and rail on door, so that lever arm is under rear section of Mortise lock lever. Then lift up until latchbolt is completely retracted.
- With chassis in this position and rail horizontal, mark location of chassis mounting holes. Drill holes for screws.
- Release Push rail, and dis-ass’y chassis from rail. Then, mount chasis on door
APPLY RAIL ASSEMBLY
- CHECK THE SIZE OF DEVICE, IF CUTTING TO LENGTH IS REQUIRED.
- DETERTMINE CUT OFF LENGTH “X” BY SUBTRACTING 1-3/4″ (44.5mm) FROM “Y”. MARK CUT OFF POINT ON MOUNTING RAIL.
- DEPRESS ARM INTO RAIL OPENING AND SLIDE RAIL ONTOCHASSIS. LEVEL RAIL AND FASSTEN CHASIS AND MOUNTING PLATE.
APPLY COVER AND STRIKES
TO CHANGE HAND OF N-FMR98 EXIT DEVICE
LHR

Remove chassis pin & main slide & tube.

Remove lift lever & lift lever pin.

Rotate 180° main slide & lift lever
-
Reassemble lift lever at opposite side, as shown.
-
Replace main slide and chassis pin and lift lever pin. and fixed screw.
RHR Done.
