Product Information Wire-Free Roller Shade Electronic Drive Unit (EDU)

Replacement

The Wire-Free Roller Shade Electronic Drive Unit (EDU) Replacement is a component of the PALLADIOM Wire-Free Roller Shade. This product is available in different models with varying voltage levels, including QSFC-EDU-BP-C, QSSC-EDU-PLDM-C, QSFCJ-EDU-4D-RPL, QSFCJ-EDU-3D-RPL, QSFCK-EDU-6D-RPL, QSFCK- EDU-4D-RPL, and QSFCK-EDU-3D-RPL. The product comes with a Slide Ring retaining clip and a Bottom Bar that may vary in style. The product package includes important safety instructions that must be followed for safe installation and operation of the product. Product Usage Instructions

REMOVE THE EXISTING EDU FROM THE SHADE:
  1. After removing the existing shade from its brackets, lay it on a clean, level surface in a location where there is enough space to unroll the fabric and remove the EDU.
  2. Remove the batteries and re-close the battery door.
  3. At the EDU end of the shade, remove one screw from the Slide Ring retaining clip. Loosen the other screw, but do not remove it.
  4. Pivot the Slide Ring retaining clip out of the way, then use the flat screwdriver to push down on the Slide Ring retaining tab, and remove the Slide Ring from the shade. Keep the Slide Ring and screw nearby for re-installation at Step 2D.
  5. Carefully unroll the fabric from the Shade Tube while loosely wrapping it around the Bottom Bar. Continue until the Shade Tube is exposed.
  6. Insert the tip of the fl at screwdriver between the end of the Shade Tube and the EDU Bearing Sleeve, then carefully twist and pry to separate.
  7. With the Bearing Sleeve disengaged from the Shade Tube, slide the EDU all the way out of the Shade Tube

INSTALL THE REPLACEMENT EDU

  1. Insert the Replacement EDU into the Shade Tube.
  2. Align the splines on the Bearing Collar with the grooves in the Shade Tube and push the collar into the tube. Hand-press only; D NOT strike the EDU to seat the bearing in the tube.
  3. Follow the instructions in Section 4 of the PALLADIOM Wire-Free Roller Shade Chassis Installation & Setup Guide, PN 045913, to re-attach the Slide Ring to the Shade in the correct orientation and secure it with the Slide Ring retaining clip.
  4. With the Slide Ring re-installed and the shade firmly anchored by an assistant, or against an immovable object, use the mallet to gently tap the Slide Ring until the EDU Bearing Sleeve is flush against the end of the Shade Tube.
  5. Reversing Step 1E, carefully re-roll the fabric onto the Shade Tube, ensuring it is wrapped straight and un-wrinkled.
  6. Follow the instructions in Sections 5, 6, and 7 of the PALLADIOM WireFree Roller Shade Chassis Installation & Setup Guide, PN 045913, to re-hang the shade in its brackets, re-install the batteries, and complete final shade setup.

INTRODUCTION

This guide is intended only for factory trained and equipped installers of Lutron PALLADIOM Shades. The following instructions describe the removal and replacement of the Electronic Drive Unit (EDU) in an existing PALLADIOM Wire- Free roller shade. For this, the existing shade must be disengaged from its brackets and taken down. After the replacement EDU is installed, the converted shade must be re-installed in the brackets and set up as a new shade. For detailed shade removal, battery removal, re-installation, and setup instructions, please refer to the PALLADIOM Wire-Free Roller Shade Chassis Installation & Setup Guide, PN 045913, available for download at Lutron.com.

  • Metal objects in the area of the batteries and battery terminals may cause a short circuit and device failure; keep foreign objects away from the batteries and battery compartment.
