LUTRON Architectural Honeycomb Shades Instructions
Prepare to Install
WARNING: STRANGULATION HAZARD
Young children can be strangled by cords. In Canada, immediately remove this
product if a cord longer than 22 cm (8.5 in) or a loop exceeding 44 cm (17 in)
around becomes accessible.
CAUTION: RISK OF FALLING OBJECTS. Securely install the shade system per the mounting instructions. It is the responsibility of the installer Ito use fasteners of appropriate type and length, and ensure they are driven securely into solid structure. Add secure blocking if necessary. Shades wider than 48 in (1219 mm) must be handled and installed by at least 2 people. Failure to follow these instructions may result in minor or moderate injury.

Pencil
3/16 in (#13) Drill Bit Extended-Length
1/4 in (6 mm) Hex Driver with Extension
Level
Tape measure
Center Punch & Hammer
Mount the Top Back Cover and Brackets
IMPORTANT: VERIFY MINIMUM CLEARANCE
Hold the top back cover up to the mounting surface, approximating [ its final
mounting position.
Verify there is at least 3/16 in (5 mm) of clearance from the nearest object
at each end to provide clearance for the headrail endcaps.
Pre-drill the Top Back Cover
a. Refer to the section at right titled Bracket Placement, to determine
bracket locations on the top back cover.
b. With the top back cover lying on a work surface, position the brackets
on the top back cover, in their final mounting positions and mark hole
locations for pre-drilling.
c. Set the brackets aside, then use the center punch and hammer to dimple
the top back cover at each hole location.
d. Pre-drill the top back cover bracket hole locations using the
extended-length 3/16 in (#13) drill bit. OPTIONAL: Pre-drill the top back
cover for mounting separately prior to bracket installation. Locate the holes
to avoid interference with bracket mounting.
Bracket Placement
Use the spool position in the headrail as a guide to correct mounting bracket
location. Position each bracket over the rounded section of a spool as shown.
Final position after shade is mounted:
Shades up to 45 in (1143 mm) wide: 2 spools. 2 brackets
Shades 45 in (1143 mm) – 72 in (1829 mm) wide: 3 spools, 3 brackets
Shades 72 in (1829 mm) – 96 in (2438 mm) wide: 4 spools. 4 brackets
Mount the Top Back Cover and Brackets
OPTIONAL: You may fasten the top back cover to the mounting surface using
the screws provided.
If pre-drilling of pilot holes in the mounting surface is planned, use the
pre-drilled top back cover as a template to mark the mounting surface. Drill
pilot holes of appropriate size for the mounting screws (3/32 in/#42 if using
the mounting screws provided).
a Place the brackets back in the top back cover, aligning them with the
pre-drilled holes, if applicable.
b. Fasten the top back cover and brackets to the mounting surface,
driving (2) screws through each bracket and the top back cover, into solid
structure.
NOTE: It is the responsibility of the installer to use fasteners of appropriate type and length, and ensure they are driven securely into solid structure. Add secure blocking if necessary.
**Inside Mount
Outside Mount On Trim
If the window trim is angied install an angied spacer (not included) behind
each bracket.
Outside Mount Above Trim
If the window trim is angied install an angied spacer (included) behind
each bracket.

Hang the Shade in the Brackets
a. Align the shade as shown, so that the headrail endcaps clear the ends
of the top back cover.

b. Tilt the top of the shade slightly toward the window and hook the
front edge of the headrail into the brackets as shown.
c. Then rotate the back of the headrail up and press the bottom of the
headrail firmly until you hear it CLICK into each bracket. Verify that the
headrail is fully engaged in all the brackets.
IMPORTANT: Ensure no fabric cells are pinched in the brackets.
Operation
To Lower the Shade:
Grasp the bottom bar handle and gently pull the bottom bar down to the desired
level.
To Raise the Shade:
Grasp the bottom bar handle and gently raise the bottom bar up to the desired
level.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
---|---|
The bottom bar is not level |
- Verify the headrail is level
- Verify the lift spools are fully seated in the headrail
The bottom bar does not reach the expected height|
- Leave the shade lowered and allow up to 24 hours for the fabric to relax
To Remove Shade from the Brackets:
Bracket (front view, no shade)
Press the release tab (side view)
Each bracket includes a release tab at the bottom-center. When pushed, the bracket releases the back of the headrail.
a. With the shade fully raised, support it with one hand and press the release
tab. Repeat for each bracket on the shade.
b. After the back of the headrail is released from all brackets, lift the
front of the headrail off the brackets.
