1. Safety instructions

DANGER
Incorrect connection poses mortal danger
Please therefore observe the following notes:

  • Before all electrical work, the control HDA must be de-energised. Safeguard the control against being switched on again without authorisation.
  • Only qualified electricians may work on the electrical connections.
  • On-site electrical installations must conform to the applicable safety regulations (230 / 240 V AC, 50 / 60 Hz).
  • The voltage of the power supply may be maximum ±10% of the operating voltage of the Docking Assistant HDA.
  • If the control is permanently connected to the mains, an all-pole mains isolator switch with corresponding pre-fuse must be installed.
  • As part of each door inspection, live cables must be checked for insulation faults and breakage points.
  • If the mains connection cable is damaged, commission a qualified electrician.

ATTENTION

External voltage on the connecting terminals

External voltage on the connecting terminals of the control will destroy the electronics.
Connection cables and supply cables laid together can result in malfunctions.

  • Duct the control’s connection cables (24 V DC) separate from the supply lines (230 / 240 V AC).

Permissible ambient temperature
–20°C to +60°C

2. Product description

The Docking Assistant HDA serves as an aid to position a vehicle for loading / unloading. When the vehicle approaches, it controls a traffic light system and a dock seal (optional).

3. Intended use

The Docking Assistant HDA may only be used as a manoeuvring guide in conjunction with a sectional door. If the Docking Assistant HDA is to be used for any other applications, the manufacturer must be consulted beforehand.

Intended use also includes following all the notes on personal safety and danger to property provided in these operating instructions, and complying with the country-specific standards and safety regulations.

Please also read and follow the instructions for fitting, operating and maintaining the door and dock seal.

4. Security

When using the Docking Assistant HDA, the personal safety of each user is the top priority. Every user must be instructed in the proper and safe operation of the Docking Assistant HDA and must read these instructions.

WARNING
The Docking Assistant HDA is not a safety device of any type.

As a pure support system, the Docking Assistant HDA does not release the vehicle driver from his duty of care.

5. Assembly

▶ Figure 1 – 2

  1. Fit the ultrasound sensors (4)(5)(6), the control housing (1) and the traffic light (13) according to the information in the drawings.
  2. Make sure that there is sufficient space for sensors and the door leaf branch box (3) on the inside of the door.
  3. Drill the corresponding holes.
  4. Duct the sensor cable inside through the holes in the door leaf.
  5. Push the supplied fitting screws through the corresponding holes in the sensors.
  6. Fasten the sensors to the door leaf.
  7. Duct the cable, e.g. by using adhesive clips, to the door leaf branch box.
  8. Fit the reed contact (7) for the CLOSED end-oftravel position reporting according to the instructions.

6. Electrical connection

  • Note the safety instructions in section 1

  • Figure 3
The maximum cable length to connect command units is 100 m with a cable cross- section of at least 1.5 mm².

  • Always feed the electrical connecting leads into the control housing from below.

  • Connect the sensors and the reed contact.

6.1 Options
▶ Figure 3
Button – undocking release
Wire jumper to X2 : + and X2 : 7
The traffic light must be manually switched from red (RD) to green (GN) for undocking release. For this, an external button (8) must be connected.

Button – repeat docking
If the undocking process has been initiated (door is closed, control of the dock seal is interrupted), the process can be restarted via the external button (10). The vehicle does not have to re-dock. It can be used, for example, during work interruptions for which the door must be closed.

Switch – do not dock
The traffic light is always illuminated red (9) when the external switch is closed. The traffic light is only illuminated green and the vehicle may only dock after opening the switch. This means that a certain door can be specifically assigned if there are several door systems, for example.

Operation without dock seal / shelter
Wire jumper to X2 : + and X2 : 8
If there is no dock seal, the time delay for inflating and deflating the dock seal is deactivated.

Interior yellow warning light
For enhanced visualisation, a yellow interior warning light (YE) (12) can be connected.

The warning light switches on after the vehicle is docked and the dock seal fully encloses the vehicle. The warning light is switched off after the loading / unloading process and after the door reaches the CLOSE end-of-travel position.

Door release
After the vehicle has docked and full attachment of the dock seal (see section 7 for function), the operator control can be released by hold circuit. A volt- free contact (Q6 : 1+2) is available on logic module A1, which can be connected to the hold circuit of the operator control with the 2 wires.

The hold circuit of the operator control is opened again after the loading / unloading process and after the door reaches the CLOSE end-of-travel position.

Impulse Open
After the vehicle has docked and full attachment of the dock seal (see section 7 for function), the operator control can automatically receive an OPEN impulse. A volt-free contact (Q7 : 1+2) is available on logic module A1, which can be connected to the OPEN impulse input of the operator control with the 2 wires.

7. Function description

The ultrasound sensors (4)(5)(6) in the door leaf transmit a club-shaped field, which detects the vehicle. The removal positions A and B are set in this field (Figure 2a). A decoder unit triggers the necessary switching processes.

Docking

  1. The traffic light (13) is illuminated green when removal positions A and B are clear.
  2. When a vehicle reaches removal position A, the traffic light changes to yellow.
  3. When the vehicle drives to removal position B, the traffic light changes to red. The parking position has been reached.
  4. After 15 seconds have passed, the dock seal (11) fan is switched on (see the operation without dock seal option).
  5. The door can be opened (see the door release option) once 10 seconds have passed.
  6. The loading / unloading process is now possible.

Undocking

  1. The door system must be closed once the loading / unloading process is finished.
  2. Once the CLOSE end-of-travel position is reached, the dock seal (11) fan is switched off.
  3. After 15 seconds have passed, the traffic light is illuminated green (see the operation without dock seal option).
  4. The vehicle can undock.

ATTENTION
Exercise caution when parking.
The system described above is a manoeuvring guide, which may be disturbed by external influences such as persons or animals.

The switching points of the ultrasound sensors (4)(5) (6) work with tolerances, which may be affected by various weather conditions.

8. Changing the removal positions

▶ Figure 4a + 4b
The removal positions A and B are pre-set at the factory.
