Product Information: Espresso Machine BR1112 The Espresso Machine BR1112 is designed for making espresso and cappuccino coffee. It has a drip tray, drip tray grid, filter holder handle, filter holder, coffee filter, control panel, cup warming tray, cappuccinator pipe, cappuccinator pipe tip, body, water tank lid, removable water tank, and a measuring spoon with ground coffee tamper.

For additional protection, it is recommended to install a residual current device (RCD) with nominal operation current not exceeding 30 mA. The machine is intended for household use only and should not be used for commercial or laboratory purposes.

Product Usage Instructions

Before Using the Coffee Maker After unit transportation or storage at low temperature, keep the machine for at least three hours at room temperature. Wash the drip tray, drip tray grid, filter holder handle, filter holder, and coffee filter with water and neutral detergent. Rinse and dry them.

Notes:

• To fill the water tank with water, lift the lid, fold it back and pour water into the tank.
• Do not use the lid to carry the water tank.
• The filter holder ledges should match the grooves on the machine body.
• When the machine is plugged in, the control panel will light up.

Preheating Preliminary heat up the coffee filter and the filter holder. Remove the water tank and fill it with water. Then, install the tank back to its place. The filter holder ledges should match the grooves on the machine body.

Making Espresso After preheating, put ground coffee into the filter using the measuring spoon. The filter holder ledges should match the grooves on the machine body. The machine is ready to make coffee.

Notes:

• The machine will switch on for 3 seconds to pre-wet the ground coffee in the filter. After a three-second pause, the pump will switch on and work until it is stopped.
• The pump operation time is limited to 60 seconds. If during this time the cup is not filled with ready coffee, switch the water supply on again by pressing the button. After the cup is filled with coffee, the pump will stop automatically.
• When making coffee, do not leave the operating coffee maker unattended. Watch the cup being filled with ready coffee.

Cleaning After making espresso, turn off the machine and remove the filter holder by turning the handle to the left. Wash the filter with water and neutral detergent. Use the retainer on the handle to prevent the filter from falling off the holder.

Notes:

• The cups should be preliminary heated up. When water heats up in the boiler, put the cups on the tray.
• If you need to promptly remove the filter holder, you have to reduce the pressure in the boiler. Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button, and then release pressure by opening the steam supply by turning the tip and slightly opening it. After the pressure in the boiler is released, you can remove the filter holder.

Safety Measures Read the operation instructions carefully before using the coffee maker and keep it for future reference. Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film.

SAFETY MEASURES AND COFFEE MAKER OPERATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Read the operation instructions carefully before using the coffee maker and keep it for future reference.

• Use the coffee maker for its intended purpose only, as specified in this manual.

• Mishandling the coffee maker can lead to its breakage and cause harm to the user or damage to his/her property and it is not covered by warranty.

• The coffee maker is intended for making espresso and cappuccino coffee and warming up ready drinks. Do not warm any other liquids.

• Make sure that the operating voltage of the coffee maker indicated on the label corresponds to your home mains voltage.

• The power plug is equipped with a grounding contact, plug it into the socket with reliable grounding contact. In case of short circuit the grounding reduces the risk of electric shock.

• Contact an electrical technician, if you are not sure that your sockets are installed properly and grounded.

• To prevent fire do not use adapters designed for connecting the power plug to the mains socket without grounding contact.

• In case of sparking in the mains socket and occurrence of smell of burning, unplug the unit and apply to the organization maintaining your home mains.

• If smoke appears from the unit body, unplug the unit and take measures to prevent fire spreading.

• Use and store the coffee maker at the temperature above 0 °C.

• Do not use the coffee maker outdoors.

• It is not recommended to use the unit during lightning storms.

• Protect the unit from impacts, falling, vibrations and other mechanical stress.

• Never leave the plugged-in coffee maker unattended.

• To avoid fire, electric shock or physical injuries, do not immerse the power plug, the power cord or the coffee maker body into water or any other liquids.

• Do not use the coffee maker in proximity to the kitchen sink, in bathrooms, near swimming pools or other containers filled with water.

• If the unit is dropped into water, unplug it immediately, and only then you can take the unit out of water. Apply to the service center for testing or repairing the unit.

• Do not use the coffee maker near heating appliances, heat sources or open flame.

• Do not use the unit in places where aerosols are used or sprayed, and in proximity to inflammable liquids.

• Place the coffee maker on a flat stable surface; do not place it on the edge of a table. Do not let the power cord hang from the edge of the table and make sure it does not touch hot surfaces or sharp edges of furniture.

• Do not place the coffee maker on hot surfaces.

• Do not touch the power cord and the power plug with wet hands.

• Use only the coffee maker parts and accessories supplied with the unit.

• Before switching the coffee maker on, make sure that all removable parts are installed properly.

• Ensure that the water level in the water tank is not below the minimal mark.

• Do not switch the coffee maker on if the water tank is empty.

• To avoid getting burns by hot steam be careful when frothing milk or warming the ready drinks.

• The filter holder surface, the cappuccinator pipe and the cappuccinator tip can get rather hot. Be cautious and careful when in contact with hot surfaces.

• Do not remove the filter holder during coffee maker operation.

• Let the unit cool down completely before cleaning and removing the accessories.

• Unplug the coffee maker before cleaning or when you are not using it. When unplugging the coffee maker hold only the power cord plug and carefully remove it from the mains socket, do not pull the power cord — this can lead to damage of the power cord or the socket or cause short circuit.

• For children safety reasons do not leave polyethylene bags, used as a packaging, unattended.
  ATTENTION!
  Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film. Danger of suffocation!

• The coffee maker is not intended for usage by children.

• Do not leave children unattended to prevent using the unit as a toy.

• Do not allow children to touch the unit and the power cord during the coffee maker operation.

• Place the unit out of reach of children during the operation and cooling down.

• This unit is not intended for usage by physically or mentally disabled persons (including children) or by persons lacking experience or knowledge if they are not under supervision of a person who is responsible for their safety or if they are not instructed by this person on the usage of the unit.

• From time to time check the power cord and the power plug integrity.

•  If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer, a maintenance service or similar qualified personnel to avoid danger.

• Do not repair the unit by yourself. Do not disassemble the unit by yourself, if any malfunction is detected, and after it was dropped, unplug the unit and apply to the service center.

• Transport the coffee maker in the original package.

• Keep the unit out of reach of children and disabled persons.

COFFEE MAKER IS INTENDED FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY, DO NOT USE THE COFFEE MAKER FOR COMMERCIAL OR LABORATORY PURPOSES.

BEFORE USING THE COFFEE MAKER
After unit transportation or storage at low temperature, it is necessary to keep it for at least three hours at room temperature.

• Unpack the coffee maker and remove all the packaging materials.

• Keep the original package.

• Read the safety measures and operating recommendations.

• Check the delivery set.

• Examine the coffee maker for damages, in case of damage do not plug it into the mains.

• Make sure that the specifications of power supply voltage specified on the lower panel of the unit correspond to the specifications of your mains. When the unit is used in the mains with 60 Hz frequency, it does not need any additional settings.

• Wipe the surface of the coffee maker body (11) with a clean, slightly damp cloth to remove dust.

• Before using the coffee maker for the first time, wash all removable parts (1, 2, 4, 5, 13, 17) with warm water and neutral detergent, rinse and dry them.

• Remove the water tank (20), fill it with cold water up to the MAX mark and install it back to its place.
  Notes:

  • to fill the water tank (13) with water you can lift the lid (12), fold it back and pour water into the tank (13).
  • do not use the lid (18) to carry the water tank (19).

• Install the coffee filter (5) into the holder (4).

• Install the filter holder (4) into the coffee maker. The holder (4) ledges should match the grooves on the boiler «Insert», after that turn the filter holder handle (3) to the right until bumping «Lock».

• Place a suitable cup on the grid (2).

• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.

• Switch the coffee maker on by pressing the on/off button (14) , the button (14) indicator willlight up.

• To fill the boiler with water press the button (8) , wait for 15-20 seconds, or at the first signs of appearance of water in the cup, switch the water supply off by pressing the button (15) again.

• Wait until the indicator lights up, then switch the water supply on by pressing the button (11). After the cup is filled with water, press the button (15) again to switch the water supply off and pour the water out of the cup.

• Notes: – when you switch the water supply on for the first time, some foreign noise of the operating pump is possible, since air comes out of the boiler, after a while the noise will disappear.

• Wait until the button (15) indicator stops flashing and glows constantly, then switch the water supply on by pressing the button (15) . After the cup is filled with water, press the button (15) again to switch the water supply off and pour the water out of the cup.

• Depending on the cup capacity repeat this procedure several times until the boiler is clean.
  ATTENTION!

• Do not remove the filter holder (4) during coffee making.

• Do not remove the filter holder (4) immediately after preparing coffee as there is redundant water and steam pressure inside the filter (4), let the coffee maker cool down completely.

• To remove the filter holder (4) turn the handle (3) to the left «Insert» and remove the filter holder (4).

AUTO SWITCH OFF FUNCTION

If no actions were performed during 25 minutes after switching on, the coffee maker will switch off automatically.

HOW TO MAKE A GOOD ESPRESSO

• Use ground coffee for espresso coffee makers.
• Slightly tamp the ground coffee in the filter (5), you can do it with the back side of the measuring spoon (17 ).
• Coffee strength depends on the quality and grinding degree of coffee beans. If coffee is pouring out too long, this means the coffee powder is too fine or it is tamped too strongly.

PREHEATING

• To make a cup of hot espresso, it is recommended to preliminary heat up the coffee filter (5) and the filter holder (4).
• Open the lid (18) and fill the tank (19) with water, or remove the tank (19) and fill it with water, then install the tank (19) back to its place.
• Insert the filter (5) into the holder (4).
• Install the filter holder (4) into the coffee maker. The holder (4) ledges should match the grooves on the boiler «Insert», after that turn the filter holder handle (3) to the right until bumping «Lock».
• Place a suitable cup on the grid (2).
• Make sure that the steam supply is closed. To do this turn the knob (8) « » clockwise until bumping «•».
• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
• Switch the coffee maker on by pressing the on/off button (14) , the button (14) indicator will light up.
• Wait until the button (15) indicator stops flashing and glows constantly, then switch the water supply on by pressing the button (15) , after 15-20 seconds, press the button (15) again to switch the water supply off, drain water from a cup.
• Preheating is over.

MAKING ESPRESSO

ATTENTION! When making coffee do not leave the operating coffee maker unattended, as it is necessary to watch the cup being filled with ready coffee!

AFTER PREHEATING:

• Make sure that the steam supply is closed. To do this turn the knob (8) clockwise until bumping «●».

• Remove the filter holder (5) by turning the handle (3) to the left «Insert» and remove the filter holder (5).

• Put ground coffee in the filter (5), slightly tamp the ground coffee with the back side of the measuring spoon (17).

• Install the filter holder (4) into the coffee maker. The holder (4) ledges should match the grooves on the boiler «Insert», after that turn the filter holder handle (3) to the right until bumping «Lock».

• Wait until the indicator (11) lights up, the coffee maker is ready for making coffee.

• Switch the water supply on by pressing the button (15) , watch the cup filling with the ready coffee, press the button (15) again to switch the water supply off.

  • when you press the button (15) , the pump will switch on for 3 seconds to pre-wet the ground coffee in the filter (5), after a three-second pause, the pump will switch on and will work until it is switched off by pressing the button (15) again;
  • the pump operation time is limited to 60 seconds, if during this time the cup is not filled with ready coffee, switch the water supply on again by pressing the button (15)

• Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) , the button (16) indicator will go out.

• Wait until the coffee maker cools down and remove the filter holder (5) by turning the handle (4) to the left «Inser». Remove the ground coffee remnants and wash the filter (6).

• For easy removing of the coffee remnants use the retainer on the handle (3) to prevent the filter (5) from falling off the holder (4).
  Notes:

  • the cups should be preliminary heated up, when water heats up in the boiler, put the cups on the tray (7).
  • If you need to promptly remove the filter holder (4), you have to reduce the pressure in the boiler, switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) , place a suitable cup under the tip (10) and slightly open the steam supply by turning the knob (8) counterclockwise. After the pressure in the boiler is released, you can remove the filter holder (4).
  • repeated making of coffee should be performed after at least 5 min interval.

ESPRESSO PORTION SETTING

• To enter the setting mode, press and hold the water supply button (15) for 3 seconds. The button (15) indicator will start flashing. Press and hold the button (15) again. After a cup is filled with necessary amount of water, press the button (15)  to finish setting. Maximal time of water supply is 15-60 seconds.

RETURN TO THE FACTORY SETTINGS

• Switch the coffee maker on and wait for preheating, the button (15) indicator will glow constantly.
• Simultaneously press and hold the buttons (14) » and (15) for 3 seconds, the buttons (14 and 15) indicators will flash 3 times, after that the coffee maker will return to the factory settings.

MAKING CAPPUCCINO

ATTENTION!
Be careful to avoid burns by the released hot steam.

• Make an espresso coffee using a cup that has room to add milk froth.

• Make sure that the steam control knob (8) is in the utmost position «●».

•  Press the steam supply button (16) and wait until the button (16) indicator glows constantly.
  Place any suitable bowl under the tip (10) for water. Carefully turn the steam supply knob (8) counterclockwise for a quarter of a turn to remove the condensed fluid from the cappuccinator pipe (9).

• After removing the condensed fluid close the steam supply by turning the knob (8) clockwise until bumping «●».
  Note:

  • when the steam supply is switched on, the button (16) indicator will flash periodically and glow constantly, indicating that the water is being heated in the boiler;
  • some water or steam may appear from the filter holder (5), it is normal.

• Put the tip (10) of the cappuccinator pipe into a glass with cold milk or cream, carefully turn the steam supply control knob (8) counterclockwise for a quarter of a turn or more. The tip (10) should not touch the bottom of the glass, as this can hinder the steam release; you can make thick frothed milk in several seconds.

Note:

  * to avoid splashing milk always immerse the tip (16) deeper than 1 cm from the milk surface.
  * when selecting a cup for milk or cream, keep in mind that the frothed milk amount increases approximately twice.

• The outgoing steam creates whirls which froths milk; from time to time lift and lower the bowl with milk against the tip (10) to make the milk foam.
• Making the milk foam is an art. You may not make it at the first try, don’t worry and experiment until you achieve good results.
• You can remove the tip (10) and try to froth the milk with the steam released from the cappuccinator pipe (9).
• Close the steam supply by turning the knob (8) clockwise until bumping «●».
• Switch the steam supply off by pressing the steam supply button (16) again.
• Add frothed milk to the ready espresso, and the cappuccino is ready. Add sugar to your taste, you can decorate frothed milk with cocoa powder.
• Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) , the button (16) indicator will go out.~

IMPORTANT:

  * It is important that milk for making frothed milk is fresh and without additives.
  *  Take usual whole milk with fat status from 4% to 6%, cream fat status is not less than 10%.
  *  Clean the cappuccinator pipe tip (10) right after milk or cream frothing — to do this put the cappuccinator pipe tip (10) into a glass of water and switch the steam supply on by pressing the button (16) , turn the steam supply knob (8) counterclockwise to release some steam. After that close the steam supply by turning the knob (8) clockwise until bumping. Switch the steam supply off by pressing the steam supply button (16) and switch the coffee maker off.

• Wait until the coffee maker cools down and remove the tip (16) from the cappuccinator pipe (9), wipe the outer side of the cappuccinator pipe (9) with a soft damp cloth and wash the tip (10) under a water jet.
  Note: repeated making of milk froth should be performed after at least 5 min interval.

WARMING THE DRINKS

• You can warm up your drinks by putting the cappuccinator pipe (9) without the tip (10) into the cup with the drink.
• Press the steam supply button (16) and wait until the button (16) indicator glows constantly.
• Put the cappuccinator pipe (9) into the cup with the drink you want to warm up. Carefully turn the steam supply control knob (8) counterclockwise.
• Close the steam supply by turning the knob (8) « » clockwise until bumping.
• Switch the steam supply off by pressing the steam supply button (16) again.
• Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) , the button (14) indicator will go out.
  Note: – some water or steam may appear from the filter holder (5), it is normal.

REMOVING MINERAL SCALE

• Scale on the inner surface of the boiler affects the taste of ready coffee, slows down the water heating process and reduces the service life of the coffee maker.
• After 500 operation cycles of the coffee maker (the cycles of coffee brewing and milk frothing are summed), the buttons (14, 15, 16) indicators will flash 5 times simultaneously after preheating, reminding you to clean the coffee maker from mineral deposits.

1. Make sure that the power plug is not inserted into the socket.
2. Make sure that the steam supply is closed. To do this turn the knob (8) clockwise until bumping.
3. Make citric acid solution: 2 teaspoons of acid to 1 litre of water and pour the solution into the water tank (13). Install the tank (13) back to its place.
4. Install the coffee filter (5) into the holder. Do not put ground coffee into the filter (5).
5. Install the filter holder (4) into the coffee maker. The holder (4) ledges should match the grooves on the boiler « Insert », after that turn the filter holder handle (3) to the right until bumping « Lock ».
6. Place a suitable cup on the grid (2).
7. Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
8. Switch the coffee maker on by pressing the on/off button (14) « », the button (14) indicator will light up.
9. 9. Press the button (15) and fill a cup of about 100 ml capacity with water (it is necessary to drain the water from the boiler and fill the boiler with citric acid solution), switch the water supply off by pressing the button (15) again.
10. Wait until the button (15) indicator stops flashing and glows constantly, then switch the water supply on by pressing the button (15) and fill a cup of about 100 ml capacity, press the button (15) again to switch the water supply off and pour the water out of the cup.
11. After a while repeat the procedure described in the paragraph 10 and fill the cup of about 100 ml capacity again.
12. Press the steam supply button (16) and wait until the button (16) indicator stops flashing and glows constantly. Put a suitable bowl under the tip (10) and slightly open the steam supply by turning the knob (8) counterclockwise. Carefully turn the knob (8) « » to the maximal steam release position «●», release the steam for about 1 minute, then close the steam by turning the knob (8) clockwise until bumping and switch the steam supply off by pressing the button (16) .
13. 13. Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) . Wait for 10-15 minutes.
14. Perform the steps 10 and 11 at least 3 times.
15. Repeat the cleaning procedure for the steam release channels described in the paragraph 12.
16. With small intervals, repeat the boiler cleaning procedure (paragraph 10) until the citric acid solution dissolves in the tank (13) completely.
17. Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) .
18. Fill the water tank (13) with clear water until maximal level and repeat the steps 10, 12 at least 3 times without the 10-15 minute break.
19. Switch the coffee maker off by pressing the on/off button (14) .
    Note: to remove the scale you can use special descaling agents for coffee makers and coffee machines, strictly following the instructions on their usage.

ATTENTION!

• You can temporarily switch off the reminder to clean the coffee maker from mineral deposits. To do this, simultaneously press and hold the buttons (15) and (16) for 3 seconds, the buttons (15 and 16) indicators will quickly flash 3 times, after that you can, for example, make coffee, but after making coffee, the coffee maker will again remind you to remove mineral deposits by flashing light indicators (14, 15, 16).
• Do not delay the coffee maker descaling for a long time and perform the cleaning as soon as possible.

CLEANING THE COFFEE MAKER

• If there is ground coffee scale remainin in the filter (5) openings, clean the filter (5) with a small brush.
• Wipe the coffee maker body with a soft, slightly damp cloth and then wipe the coffee maker body (11) dry. Do not use abrasives and solvents to clean the coffee maker body.
• Do not immerse the coffee maker body (11), the power cord and the power plug into water or any other liquids.
• Wash the removable parts of the coffee maker with warm water and neutral detergent, then rinse them and dry.

DRIP TRAY (1)

• A red pop-up indicator (3) in the grid (2) will show when the tray (1) is full.
• Remove the grid (2) from the tray (1), remove the tray (1) and pour out water, install the tray back to its place, put the grid (2) on the tray (1).
• If necessary, wash the tray (1) and the grid (2) with water and soft detergent, rinse and dry.

STORAGE

• Before taking the coffee maker away for long storage, unplug it and let the unit cool down.
• Clean the coffee maker.
• Pack the coffee maker in the original package.
• Use and store the coffee maker at the temperature above 0 °C.
• Keep the coffee maker in a dry cool place out of reach of children and disabled persons.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Water leaks from the bottom of the coffee maker

| The tray is full of

water.

| Please, clean the tray.
The coffee
