Operation
- Unpack the burning station and check all parts for signs of damage. Do not use parts that are damaged.
- Place the burning station on a solid and fire/heat-resistant surface.
a) Attaching tools
- Remove the stand from the bottom of the station.
- Insert the stand into one of the retaining grooves (7) on the sides of the burning station. If you are right-handed, use the right-hand side (and vice versa). This ensures that you will be able to replace the burning pen quickly and safely.
- Select one of the burning tips for your work.
- Use the Phillips screwdriver (9) to loosen the screws on the burning tip holder (1) until you can insert the burning tip on both sides.
- Tighten all screws with the screwdriver on both sides with the same force to fasten the burning tip in place.
- Place the burning pen on the stand.
b) Switching the station on/off
-
Connect the mains plug on the mains cable (5) to a mains socket.
-
Use the on/off switch (6) on the rear side to switch on the burning station (I = ON / 0 = OFF).
-
The LED indicator (2) will light up to indicate that the burning station is ready for use.
-
Turn the temperature control dial (3) to set the desired tool temperature. Turn the temperature control dial clockwise to increase the temperature. Turn the temperature control dial anticlockwise to decrease the temperature.
-
Check the set temperature. The temperature can be set from 160 to 670 °C. You can start working when the required set temperature has been reached. It takes approx. 15 – 30 seconds for the pen to reach its working temperature.
-
The burning station retains the most recently set temperature. The most recently selected temperature will be retained when you switch the burning station back on.
-
Test the temperature of the burning tip until it is sufficiently high (but not too high) for the material you wish to use.
It is recommended to start heating with a low temperature, wait until this temperature has been reached, and then correct the temperature setting upwards until the required working temperature is reached. -
To switch off the burning station after you have finished working and take the pen out of operation, switch the station off via the on/off switch (6) (0 = OFF) before you unplug the mains plug.
c) Tips
- If you have little or no experience with pyrography, practice on waste wood before commencing work.
- If you need to change the burning tip while working, turn the temperature control dial to the zero position.
- Loosen the connection screws on the tool holder with the Phillips screwdriver.
- To avoid burns from a burning tip that is too hot, use pliers to remove the burning tip.
- Then insert the new burning tip and tighten the screws on the clamps with the screwdriver. Refer to “a) Attaching tools”.
- Always turn the device off after use and unplug it from the mains.
