MONACOR EDL-165C-WS PA Ceiling Speaker
Applications
This speaker with EN 54-24 certification has been ap-proved for voice alarm systems. In case of fire, the closed housing (fire dome) will restrict the spread of fire. Ball impact resistance in accordance with DIN 18 032, part 3 has been confirmed. For operation in 100 V systems, an audio transformer has been in targeted. Model EDL-224ABC is equipped with two full range speakers, each provided with a transformer. These full-range speakers can be connected separately. Therefore, this model is ideally suited for PA systems with A / B wiring according to EN 60849.
Safety Notes
- The speaker corresponds to all relevant directives of the EU and is therefore marked with the speaker is suitable for indoor use only.
- Protect it against dripping water and splash water, high air humidity and heat (admissible ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
- For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use chemicals or water.
- No guarantee claims for the speaker and no liability for any resulting personal damage or material dam-age will be accepted if the speaker is used for other purposes than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed or connected, or if it is overloaded.
- If the speaker is to be put out of operation definitively, dispose of the speaker in accordance with local regulations.
Installation
WARNING
During operation, there is a hazard of contact with a dangerous voltage of up
to 100 V at the connection cable. Installation must be carried out by skilled
personnel only. Observe the load of the amplifier by the speakers. Overload
may damage the amplifier. The total power of all speakers connected must not
exceed the amplifier power.
- Completely switch off the PA system before installing the speaker so that the speaker cables will not carry any voltage.
- Saw a cutout of the corresponding size into the ceiling.
- Unscrew the housing cover to gain access to the connections.
- Pull the connection cable through the cable inlet of the housing cover and connect it to the terminal block.
- Use the terminal with the white core and the terminal with the coloured core corresponding to the desired power rating volume.

Model EDL 224ABC: Connect the two speakers separatel.
- When connecting, make sure that all speakers have the same polarity e. g. white core = negative pole.
- Close the housing.
- Bend the three spring clips upwards and insert the speaker into the ceiling cutout.
- The spring clips will make sure that the speaker is held in place on the celling.
CAUTION
Risk of injury
When the springs are under tension, always hold them tightly.
