BEFORE USE REMOVE SAFETY PLUG

• Remove the black plastic plug which is inserted into the mains power connection at the rear of the radio.
• This is used to isolate the internal battery during transportation.
• The radio will not operate with this plug inserted.
• Keep the plug if you wish to store the radio for long periods of time to help conserve the internal battery.

• Always check the correct polarity when inserting batteries. Incorrect polarity can damage this unit.

POWERING THE RADIO

There are several methods to power this radio

• Internal rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (recharged using Mains Figure-8 cord or DC Adaptor), will last approx. 8 hours from full charge for USB/Micro SD.
• The internal battery compartment, requiring 2x D size Alkaline batteries (Do not use rechargeable NiMH or Carbon Zinc batteries)
• 220-240v Main Supply (using figure-8 cord supplied)
• 5v DC 1 000mA DC Adaptor (not supplied)

CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERY

• When the internal battery becomes low, you will hear a message that says “PLEASE CHARGE THE BATTERY”. It is time to recharge the battery or use an alternative power source.
• The internal rechargeable lithium battery is charged by using either the Mains Voltage Supply or DC Adaptor.
• The red charging LED will illuminate during the charging process.

Note: LED does not advise when battery is fully charged.

MAINS POWER

• Plug the figure-8 power cord into the AC Input and then plug the UK plug into a suitable 220-240v~50Hz mains supply.
• Or use a 5v DC Adaptor with a minimum of 1 000mA rating into the DC socket at side of the radio.

BATTERY OPERATION

1. Remove the battery compartment door.
2. Insert 2 x 1.5 ‘D’ batteries (Not Included) , observing the correct polarities as indicated in the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery compartment door, ensuring that it clicks securely into place.

IMPORTANT

• Always turn the unit off when not in use. Leaving it on will shorten the life of the batteries
• If you plan not to use the unit for a length of time, remove the batteries. Old batteries can leak and cause corrosion and damage the unit.
• Should you find the sensitivity or quality of sound deteriorating, replace all old batteries with new ones as soon as possible
• The use of long life alkaline batteries is recommended.

LISTENING SAFETY

To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when using earphones:

• Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening and then then adjust the volume to a comfortable level
• Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended periods of listening at high volumes can lead to permanent hearing loss.
• Once the volume is set to a comfortable level, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so even a volume that does not cause discomfort may still damage your hearing.

ANTENNA

This radio is equipped with a built in ferrite bar aerial for improved AM (MW) reception and a telescopic rod antenna for improved FM reception. As the built in ferrite bar aerial is directional, rotate the radio slowly to find the position, which gives optimum reception on AM (MW). When listening to FM broadcasts, extend the telescopic rod aerial to its full length, for best reception and clarity.

RADIO OPERATION

1. Ensure the radio is connected to a power source as stated above.
2. Move Slide Switch to choose the desired waveband FM or AM.
3. Rotate the OFFNolume switch down to increase the volume to desired level. A click will be heard when the radio comes out of OFF mode.
4. Rotate the TUNER knob left and right to select the desired radio station on the selected waveband. For FM reception, use the dipole antenna fully extended to receive best reception. For AM/MW reception, the radio must be rotated to find the best reception. This waveband does not use the dipole antenna.
5. To turn OFF the radio, rotate upwards the OFFNolume control until a click sound is heard.

USB OR MICRO SD CARD MUSIC

1. Ensure the radio is connected to a power source as stated above.
2. Move Slide Switch to USB to select Bluetooth or MP3 via USB or Micro SD.
3. Insert the USB or micro SD Card in FAT32 format containing the music files in MP3 format. The red MP3 Player LED will illuminate and remain static. This will flash slowly during music playback.
4. Rotate the OFFNolume switch down to increase the volume to desired level. A click will be heard when the radio comes out of OFF mode and a voice will say “MP3 MUSIC”.
5. The buttons on top of the radio are used to change, pause and play the desired track.

BLUETOOTH

This radio plays music files from a Bluetooth BT source such as Mobile Phone. This can be music streaming sources such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer etc or music stored directly on your phone.

All trademarks are recognised.

1. Ensure the radio is connected to a power source as stated above.
2. Move the Slide Switch to USB to select Bluetooth or USB.
3. Do not insert a USB or micro SD card. Alternatively, if these are already inserted press M to change the mode.
4. Rotate the OFFNolume switch down to increase the volume to desired level. A click will be heard when the radio comes out of OFF mode and a voice will say “THE BLUETOOTH DEVICE IS READY TO PAIR” or if you have already paired before it will say “THE BLUETOOTH DEVICE IS CONNECTED SUCCESSFULLY”.
5. To connect to Bluetooth for the first time, the radio will say “THE BLUETOOTH DEVICE IS READY TO PAIR” and is waiting to connect to your phone. The red MP3 Player LED will flash fast. On your phone, search for Bluetooth devices for a device called N6403 and click CONNECT. There is no password.
6. Once paired, the radio will say “THE BLUETOOTH DEVICE HAS CONNECTED”, the red MP3 player LED will remain static, and you are ready to play your music on your phone.

INTERNAL BATTERY REMOVAL

The internal rechargeable battery is not replaceable. At end of life, the battery must be removed and taken to your local battery disposal centre.

1. Remove any power source including any alkaline batteries.
2. Remove the screws holding the case together and pry open the case.
3. Locate the battery and remove from the radio.

Note: it is extremely important that you do not detach both wires at the same time using scissors, as this could short the battery, resulting in personal injury or damage to the battery.

CLEANING AND CARE

This radio has been designed to operate over a long period of time with a minimum of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon proper care and regular cleaning. The exterior surface of the radio should be wiped with a clean dry cloth only.

• Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents or polish on any part of the appliance.

WEEE/ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

PRODUCT END-OF-LIFE AND BATTERY DISPOSAL

The battery contains substances that may pollute the environment. At end of life for the product, always remove the battery and separate before you discard the product at your local waste collection point. Both battery and product should be disposed separately. If you have trouble removing the battery, then you should contact a qualified technician or authorised service centre. Contact your local authority for details and locations of official waste collection points. Do not dispose of batteries or product with normal household waste.

WARRANTY

An additional manufacturer’s warranty is not provided with this product. If the product develops a manufacturing fault in any way, then under Statutory Rights you must stop use and return it to the retailer in which it was purchased.
