SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Warning: Read the manual carefully before use. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in damage to the unit and/or physical injury. Store the manual in a safe place for future reference.

Training

  • Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the proper use of the tool.
  • This tool is intended only for cutting grass and should never be used for any other purpose.
  • Never allow children, people unfamiliar with these instructions or persons under the influence of alcohol or medication to operate the tool. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
  • Never mow while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
  • The operator is responsible for accidents of hazards occurring to other people or their property.
  • Avoid running the engine indoors. The exhaust gases contain harmful carbon monoxide.

Preparation

  • While cutting, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers.
  • Do not operate the tool when barefoot or wearing open sandals.
  • Thoroughly inspect the area where the tool is to be used and remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones, and other foreign objects.
  • Before using, always visually inspect the unit to make sure that the blades, blade bolts and cutter assembly are not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts in sets to preserve balance.

Operation

  • Operate only in daylight or in good artificial light.
  • Avoid operating the tool in wet grass, where feasible.
  • Always be sure of your footing on slopes.
  • Walk when operating the tool. Don’t run.
  • Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.
  • Don’t operate the tool on excessively steep slopes.
  • Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the tool towards you.
  • Never operate the tool with defective guards or shields, or without safety devices.
  • Switch on the motor according to instructions and with feet well away from the blade(s).
  • Do not tilt it more than absolutely necessary and lift only the part which is away from the operator. Always ensure that both hands are in the operating position before returning the tool to the ground.
  • Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts.
  • Never pick up or carry the tool while the motor is running.
  • Pull the spark plug from the socket:
    • Whenever you leave the tool.
    • Before clearing a blockage.
    • Before checking, cleaning or working on the tool.
    • After striking a foreign object. Inspect the tool for damage and make repairs as necessary.
    • If the tool starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately).

Maintenance and storage

  • Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to be sure the tool is in safe working condition.
  • Check the tool frequently for wear or deterioration.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
  • Never store the equipment with gasoline in the tank inside a building where fumes can reach a flame or spark.
  • Allow the engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.
  • To reduce the fire hazard, keep the engine, exhaust muffler and gasoline storage area free of grass, leaves, or excessive grease.
  • If the fuel tank has to be drained, this should be done outdoors.

Special safety warnings

  • Grip the handles of the tool firmly with both hands. Stop the tool before pausing or stopping work.
  • Always be sure to maintain a steady, even posture while working.
  • Maintain the speed of the engine at the level required to perform cutting work and never raise the speed of the engine above the level necessary.
  • If grass gets caught in the blade during operation, or if you need to check the unit or refuel the tank, always be sure to turn off the engine.
  • If the blade touches a hard object like a stone immediately stop the engine and check the blade for signs of damage. If damage is observed on the blade replace it with a new identical one.
  • If someone calls out while working, always be sure to turn off the engine before turning around.
  • Never touch the spark plug or spark plug cord while the engine is in operation. Doing so may result in being subjected to an electrical shock.
  • Never touch the muffler, spark plug or other metallic parts of the engine while the engine is in operation or immediately after shutting down the engine. Doing so may result in serious burns.

INTENDED USE

  • This brush cutter is intended only for cutting grass. Any other use is not permitted.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Connecting the aluminum shaft to the motor

  1. Align the four holes on the shaft reducer with the four motor housing holes and insert the screws into the holes. Tighten the screws using the appropriate Allen key. (Fig. 1-2)

Installing the handle

  1. Remove the 4 screws on the bracket and remove the upper plate.
  2. Place the handle into the fixing slot, place the upper plate back on the bracket and tighten the 4 screws to firmly secure the handle.

Installing the safety guard

  1. Align the two holes on the board with the holes on the safety guard.
  2. Insert the two combination screws into the holes and tighten them securely with the Allen key.
Assembling the cutting head

Nylon cutting head

  1. Remove the nut. Line up the two holes of flange and shield, use one screwdriver to hold the flange and turn the socket wrench clockwise, the nut will be removed.
  2. Fit the nylon cutting head. Remove another shield after removing the nut. Still holding the flange, place the nylon cutting head on the shaft and rotate counter-clockwise, the nylon cutting head is fitted.
  3. Remove the nylon cutting head. Use a screwdriver to hold the flange and then rotate the nylon cutting head clockwise. The nylon cutting head can now be removed.

Blade

  1. Fit the blade. Take the outer flange off after removing the nut, then put the blade, outer flange, shield and nut according to the priority shown in figures. Use screwdriver to hold the flange and tighten the nut securely counter-clockwise.
  2. Remove the blade. Use a screwdriver to hold the flange and release the nut. The blade can now be removed.

Warning: Make sure the cutting head is assembled correctly before use.

FUEL

Filling the fuel tank

Warning: Fuel is highly explosive.

  • Turn off the motor and wait for it to cool down before filling the tank with fuel.
  • You must observe all safety instructions relating to handling fuel.

Attention: Risk of tool damage.

  • The tool is not filled with motor or gearbox oil from the factory. Before operation, the fuel tank must be filled.
  • Use a mixture of synthetic two-stroke motor oil and unleaded gasoline. Add 30 ml of oil per litre of gasoline.
  • Never use oil made for 4-stroke or water-cooled 2-stroke engines as this can cause spark plug fouling, exhaust port blocking or piston ring sticking.
  • Mixed fuel, which has been left unused in the fuel tank for a period of one month or more may clog the carburetor or result in the engine failing to operate properly. Fill up airtight containers with old fuel and keep them in a dark and cool room.

Warning: Fire hazard.

Always shut off the engine and wait for it to cool down before filling the fuel tank.

  1. Unscrew the fuel tank cap and remove it. (Fig. 20-21)
  2. Pour in the fuel carefully. Avoid spilling. (Fig. 22)
  3. Screw the fuel tank cap back on firmly by hand.

Draining the fuel tank

  1. Hold a container beneath the fuel tank cap.
  2. Unscrew the fuel tank cap and remove it. (Fig. 20-21)
  3. Allow the fuel tank to empty completely.
  4. Screw the fuel tank cap back on firmly by hand.

PRE-OPERATION CHECK

Warning:

  • Do not start the unit until it has been completely assembled.
  • Always check the unit before operation to ensure that no part is damaged or defective. If a part is damaged or defective, make sure to replace it before using the tool.
  • Before operation, always check the ground and remove all objects which could be thrown by the tool.

Carry out the following checks before starting the engine:

  • Check the tool for leaks.
  • Check the tool for visual defects.
  • Check that all parts of the tool have been securely fitted.
  • Check that all safety devices are in proper condition.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Starting the engine

  1. Press the fuel primer bulb more than 5 times. (Fig. 23)
  2. Turn the engine switch (1) to the ON position. (Fig. 24)
  3. Set the choke lever to the OFF position. (Fig. 25-26)
  4. Pull the recoil starter handle to start the engine. (Fig. 27)
  5. Wait for a short while and then set the choke lever to the ON position.

Operation (Fig. 28)

  1. When the engine is running and idling, press the lock off lever (2) and then press the throttle lever (3) to start working.
    • When using a nylon cutter, make sure to bump the cutter head on a hard surface to feed the line.
    • If any problems are encountered, turn the engine switch (1) to the OFF position to stop the engine.
    • If the tool is hot, the throttle lever (3) can be set to the ON position directly when restarting the unit. Caution: Do not start the motor in tall grass.

Warning: When the engine has been switched off, the cutter continues running for several seconds. Keep your hands and legs away from the cutting attachment until it has come to a standstill.

MAINTENANCE

Warning: Before performing any maintenance or cleaning work, always turn off the engine.

  • Do not spray the unit with water. Ingress of water may damage the engine and electrical connections.
  • Clean the unit with a cloth or a hand brush.

Expert inspection is required:

  • If the tool strikes an object.
  • If the motor stops suddenly.
  • If the blade is bent (do not attempt to align the blade on your own)
  • If the gears are damaged.

Resharpening and replacing the blade

  • Resharpening and replacement of the blade must only be carried out by technicians of the authorized service department of the manufacturer.

Changing and cleaning the spark plug (Fig. 29)

  1. Once the engine has cooled, remove the spark plug using a spark plug socket wrench.
  2. Clean the spark plug with a wire brush.
  3. Using a feeler gauge, set the gap to 0.6-0.7 mm.
  4. Screw in the spark plug carefully by hand, to avoid cross-threading.
  5. After the spark plug has seated, tighten with a spark plug socket wrench to compress the washer.

Cleaning the air filter

  1. Unclip the air filter cover.
  2. Remove the sponge filter element.
  3. To avoid objects falling into the air tank, replace the air filter cover.
  4. Wash the filter element in warm soap water, rinse and allow it to air dry.

Warning

  • Never run the engine without the air filter element installed.

STORAGE

  • After stopping work with the tool, stop the engine and allow the motor to cool down. Afterwards, clean the unit thoroughly and store it in a dry room.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Warning: Before performing any maintenance or cleaning work, always turn off the engine and wait until the cutter has come to a standstill.

  1. Engine does not run
    • Reassemble the blade or nylon cutter.
    • Check the fuel level in the tank.
  2. Engine power drops
    • Have the blade resharpened/replaced by technicians of the authorized service department of the manufacturer.
  3. The temperature of the tool is too high
    • Stop the tool and let it cool down. Take regular breaks when operating the tool to avoid overheating.

WARRANTY

The machinery has been manufactured according to strict standards set by our company, which are aligned with the respective european quality standards. The diesel and gasoline powered machines are provided with a warranty period of 24 months for non-professional use and 12 months for professional use. The warranty is valid from the date of purchase of the product. Proof of the warranty right is the purchase document of the machine (retail receipt or invoice). Under no circumstances shall the company cover the relevant cost of spare parts and respective required working hours unless a copy of the purchase document is presented.

In case the repair has to be done by our service department the cost of transportation (to and from) is entirely borne by the sender (client). The said machines must be  sent for repair to the company or to an authorized workshop in the appropriate way and means of transport.

WARRANTY EXEMPTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS:

  1. Spare parts that wear out naturally as a consequence of being used (blade, chain, recoil starter, spark plug, trimmer line etc.).
  2. Machinery damaged as a result of non-compliance with the instructions of the manufacturer.
  3. Machinery poorly maintained or taken care of.
  4. Use of improper spare parts or accessories.
  5. Machinery given to third entities free of charge.
  6. Storing the machine with fuel.
  7. Damage as a result of mistaken assembly.
  8. Damage as a result of mixing of fuel with machine oil by mistake.
  9. Damage as a result of poor quality of fuel or lubricant.
  10. Damage as a result of not cleaning the generator as required.
  11. Equipment that has been modified or disassembled by unauthorized personnel.
  12. Broken parts/components as a result of inappropriate use.
  13. Equipment used for rent.

The warranty covers only the free of charge replacement of the component that presents a manufacturing defect or material failure. In case of lack of a specific spare part the company reserves the right to replace the generator with another of the same kind. After all warranty procedures have been concluded, the warranty period of a generator shall not be extended or renewed. Replacement of a spare part with repair charge is covered by a 1 year warranty of good operation, subject to compliance with the warranty terms. The spare parts or tools that are replaced remain in the possession of our company. Requirements, other than those mentioned in this warranty form, regarding repairing a generator or damage thereof, do not apply. Greek law and relative regulations apply to this warranty.
