Preparing to Spray

  1. Remove the protective cover from the disc.

  2. Extend the sprayer.

  3. Fit the bottle. Do not overtighten.

  4. Remove the switch end piece.

  5. Insert five batteries, flat end first.

  6. Replace the switch end piece.

  7. Adjust the angle of the head according to the crop height.

  8. Fit the tank straps and refilling tubes.
    Mixing and Filling

  9. Always wear protective clothing when using pesticides.

  10. The 5lt. tank is enough for 1/2 hectare (1acre) – so only 2 tanks per hectare are needed.

  11. Half fill the tank with clean water.

  12. Add chemical for half a hectare (1 acre).

  13. Add more water up to the 5 litre mark.

  14. Replace the cap and shake to mix.

  15. Fit the correct feed nozzle. If the spacing between the rows is more than 90cm use the grey. If the spacing between the rows is less than 90cm use the black.

  16. put the tank on you back.

  17. Hold the sprayer with the bottle on the ground.

  18. Open the tap and let the bottle fill by gravity – shake the tank.

  19. When the bottle is nearly full close the tap. Do not overfill the bottle.
    Spraying

  20. Always hold the sprayer downwind during spraying.

  21. Never hold the sprayer upwind.

  22. Never spray if there is no wind.

  23. Start spraying at the downwind edge of the field.

  24. The ULVA+ can cover 3 rows (around 2.5m) with one pass.

  25. First switch on the sprayer.

  26. The turn it over so that the chemical flows from the bottle onto the disc.

  27. Start walking, holding the spray head 1m above the top of the crop.

  28. At the end of the row turn the spray head over and move three rows pwind. Move the sprayer so that it is downwind and resume spraying. Continue to work in this way until you have treated the whole field. If the wind changes direction, stop spraying immediately
    After Spraying

  29. Do not put the spray head in water as this will destroy the motor.

  30. Pour a little water into the tank and replace the cap.

  31. Shake the tank and then fill the spray bottle.

  32. Spray water for a minute to clean the disc and nozzle.

  33. Remove the disc.

  34. Clean the disc using a soft brush.

  35. Wipe the sprayer and tank using a dry cloth.

  36. Remove the batteries to prevent damage from them leaking.

  37. Collapse the sprayer and replace the protective cover.

  38. After spraying always wash your hands and face thoroughly.

  39. Always wash your clothes after spraying.

  40. Make sure that pesticides are stored in a secure place.
