Installation Instruction
Before installing, read all instructions. Only certified mechanics should install Dirt King products. Mandatory wheel alignment and ADAS calibration at certified facilities are required after suspension modifications. Failure to do so can lead to handling problems and safety risks. Raise the vehicle and prepare for installation.
a. Safely support the vehicle.
b. Remove front wheels. -
Unbolt the steering link on driver side.
a. Separate the shaft from U-joint on driver side of vehicle.
b. Move aside to remove upper arm bolt.
Note: Ensure the steering wheel remains stationary and the joint stays aligned once the U-Joint bolt is removed to prevent damage to the clock spring.

Remove ball joint nut and separate ball joint from knuckle.
a. Support knuckle. Do not overextend brake or vacuum lines. -
Remove upper control arm bolt and remove factory arm from the vehicle.

Install Dirt King upper control arm to chassis.
a. Position the Dirt King bushing spacers as shown in image.
b. Install arms over the top of the coil bucket and gradually lower until bolt holes are aligned.
c. Install upper control arm bolt and torque to factory spec: 122 ft lbs.
NOTE: Ford recommends discarding upper control arm bolt and replacing with new one. -
Install Dirt King upper control arm to knuckle.
a. Install taper adapter onto ball joint as shown in image.
b. Install the ball joint into knuckle and torque castle nut to 81 ft lbs. Install new cotter pin. -
Reinstall steering link.
a. Install shaft and bolt.
b. Torque bolt to factory spec: 22 ft lbs.
NOTE: Ford recommends discarding bolt and replacing with new one. -
Review your work and repeat steps to other side of vehicle.
a. Confirm everything is installed correctly. If the vehicle is equipped with remote reservoir shocks, then ensure the control arm is not contacting the shock reservoir hose. -
Reinstall wheels and align vehicle.
a. Have the vehicle aligned at a qualified shop. If your vehicle is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure it is recalibrated.
