Installation

Removal

  • Disconnect the battery’s positive and negative terminals.
  • Raise vehicle and safely secure on stands.
  • Remove front wheels.
  • Cut the factory bump stop mount off the vehicle. Grind surface clean.

Test fit

  • Loosely install bypass shock hoop to coil bucket. Mark all points of contact on chassis as shown in image. A portion of the inner wheel well may need to be trimmed to clear the shock hoop.
  • Loosely install bypass shock. Route reservoir to its location and set in place with mounts. It may be helpful to release nitrogen pressure to allow shock to compress.
  • Confirm reservoir hose is clear of contacting any components. Ground your welder to the shock hoop and carefully tack reservoir mounts.
  • Remove bypass shock.
  • If fabricating a cross brace, use supplied tabs (see image) and mock-up brace at this time. Tack weld tabs onto shock mount.
  • Remove shock hoop and clean chassis down to bare metal where previously marked (step a).
  • Fully weld reservoir mount and cross brace tabs while mount is off vehicle.
  • Reinstall shock hoop and tighten hardware to secure in place. Check fitment and make modifications if required.

Welding

  • Cover any exposed parts of the vehicle that could sustain damage from weld heat or splatter.
  • Ground your welder to the shock hoop and fully weld shock mount in place.
  • For the coil bucket, apply three 1-1/2” long welds equally spaced around the coil bucket. It is recommended to remove shock prior to welding to prevent any heat related damage to shock bearings.
  • Allow welds to completely cool.

Final assembly

  • Paint any raw metal areas to prevent rust and allow paint to fully cure.
  • Install Dirt King long travel spec bypasses. If coil-over was removed, reinstall per your manufacturer instructions.
  • Torque the ½” Bypass Nyloc nuts to 90 ft lbs.
  • Mount the reservoir to the shock hoop with the supplied hose clamps. Make sure the reservoir hose and brake line are not contacting anything that can cause damage.

Review your work and repeat steps to other side of vehicle.

  • Confirm everything is installed correctly. Ensure the shock reservoir hose is not making contact with frame or shock mount.
  • Reinstall battery cables.

Reinstall wheels and align vehicle.

  • Have the vehicle aligned at a qualified shop. If your vehicle is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure it is recalibrated at a certified dealer.
