Installation Instructions
Before installing, read all instructions. Only certified mechanics should install Dirt King products. Mandatory wheel alignment and ADAS calibration at certified facilities are required after suspension modifications. Failure to do so can lead to handling problems and safety risks. Step 1: Removal
- Raise the vehicle and remove the wheels.
- Separate sway bar end link from the lower arm.
- Unbolt the line clamps attached to the upper control arm and knuckle.
- Separate the upper control arm from the knuckle.
- Remove the shock from the vehicle.
Step 2: Install Dirt King Shock
- Barrel sand the lower control arm pocket.
- Install the Dirt King shock with the reservoir hose pointing toward the front of the vehicle.
- Apply blue thread locker to factory lower hardware and torque to 114 ft-lbs.
- Apply blue thread locker to the top shock mounting bolts and torque to 35ft lbs.
- Install the upper control arm and reattach the line clamps. Torque upper control arm hardware to manufacture’s spec.
Note: Aftermarket upper control arms are required with these shocks to allow for the additional down travel that the shocks provide.
Step 3: Mount Reservoir
- Unbolt the factory sway bar mount.
- Install the Dirt King reservoir bracket in between the sway bar mount and the chassis.
- Secure the Dirt King reservoir bracket and sway bar bracket with the factory bolts. Torque bolts to 51ft lbs.
- Mount Dirt King reservoir to bracket.
- Torque socket head bolts for the clamps to 12ft lbs. Ensure the reservoir hose is not contact any component. Rotate the reservoir in the clamps to reposition the hose if needed.
Step 4: Final Assembly
- Reconnect sway bar end links and torque to 89ft lbs.
- Repeat steps for the opposite side.
- Reinstall wheels and torque lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer’s specs.
- Have the vehicle aligned at a qualified shop. If your vehicle is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure it is recalibrated.
