AC power supply cord

  • The power plug is the disconnecting device.
  • Install this unit so that the power plug can be unplugged from the socket outlet immediately.
  • Ensure the earth pin on the power plug is securely connected to prevent electrical shock.
  • An apparatus with CLASS I construction shall be connected to a power socket outlet with a protective earthing connection

Unit

  • Do not place sources of naked flames, such as light candles, on this unit.
  • This unit may receive radio interference caused by mobile telephones during use. If such interference occurs, please increase the separation between this unit and the mobile telephone.
  • This unit is intended for use in moderate and tropical climates.
  • Do not put any objects on this unit. This unit becomes hot while it is on.
  • Do not stand on the speakers.
  • Do not place heavy items on the speakers.
  • Do not hold the speaker in one hand to avoid injury by dropping the speaker when carrying it.
  • The speakers and speaker nets use powerful magnets. Do not put them near TVs, PCs, or other equipment easily influenced by magnetism.
  • You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.
  • Do not touch the diaphragms. Doing so may deform the diaphragms, and as a result, sound may not be output correctly.
  • Be cautious when children are near.
  • Do not insert a finger into the bass reflex ports on the front of the speakers. Pay close attention to children as doing so may cause personal injury.
  • Place this unit on an even surface.
  • To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage, – Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet, or another confined space. Ensure this unit is well-ventilated.
  • Do not obstruct this unit’s ventilation openings with newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, and similar items.

  • The a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the type recommended by the manufacturer.

  • Remove the battery if you do not intend to use the remote control for a long period. Store in a cool, dark place.

Installation

  • Turn this unit off and disconnect all the equipment before moving this unit. Be sure to raise this unit when moving, and do not drag this unit.
  • Confirm the installation location can sustain the weight of this unit.

Attaching and removing the speaker nets

  • The speaker nets protect the speaker units from dust. Use the magnets to fix the speaker nets to the speakers.
  • Attach the speaker nets so that they fully cover the speaker units.
  • Attach the speaker nets at the positions to meet the magnets and there is no specific direction of up and down, left and right.
  • The superior sound quality can be delivered when playing back without the speaker nets.
  • When carrying this unit, do not hold the speaker net.
  • To dispose of or transfer this unit
  • Before disposing of or transferring this unit, be sure to erase all the recorded information by restoring the settings to the factory default (above).
  • Before you dispose of or transfer this unit to a third party, be sure to log out of your music streaming services accounts to prevent unauthorized use of your accounts.

Adjusting with the Space Tune function
You can adjust the sound quality automatically according to the installation location (near the wall or the corner of the room). Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] for 2 seconds to start the sound adjustment.

  • A test tone outputs quite a bit while the measurement is in progress.
  • The progress of the adjustment is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator. When the adjustment is complete, a beep sounds 2 times, and all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds.
  • If the adjustment fails, a beep sounds 3 times, and all the LED indicators on the front top of this unit blink for 3 seconds. Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] for 2 seconds to set the adjustment again.
  • With the volume set to a minimum, press and hold the [-] button of the volume control on this unit, then press [S.TUNE AUTO] to disable the Space Tune function.
  • You can select the preset Space Tune function from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Notes on use
To protect the speakers from damage caused by excessive input, observe the following precautions:

  • Reduce the volume in the following cases to avoid damage:
    • When playing distorted sound.
    • When the speakers are receiving howling from a microphone or record player, noise from FM broadcasts, or continuous signals from an oscillator, test disc, or electronic instrument.
    • When adjusting the sound quality.
  • You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.

Using “Technics Audio Center”
If you install the dedicated app “Technics Audio Center” (free of charge) on your tablet/ smartphone, you can stream music files from the device on your network to this unit and configure the settings of sound quality, etc. You can set up the sound adjustment and other settings from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

This application is subject to change or be discontinued with notice.

Unit care
Pull out the AC mains lead from the socket before maintenance.

Top / Rear of this unit

  • Clean this unit with a soft cloth.
  • When dirt is heavy, wring a wet cloth tightly to wipe the dirt, and then wipe it with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use solvents including benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, chemical wiper, etc.
  • Doing so may cause the exterior case to come off.

Front/Left and Right Sides
(Suede-Like Artificial Leather)

  • Dampen a soft, clean cloth with lukewarm water (approximately 40 °C), wring it out tightly, and gently pat the surface to remove stains. After cleaning, smooth the surface using a soft, dry brush.
    Note

  • Avoid vigorous rubbing as it may cause discoloration or damage to the surface.

  • If stains persist after patting, lightly brush the surface to remove them.

Firmware updates
Occasionally, Panasonic may release updated firmware for this unit that may add or improve the way a feature operates. These updates are available free of charge.

To restore all the settings to the factory defaults

  1. Disconnect the AC mains lead from the primary speaker.
    • Wait 30 seconds before you continue with step 2.
  2. While you press and hold[   on the primary speaker, connect the AC The mains lead again.
    • Keep holding down until the two LED indicators at the left end light up and a beep sounds.
  3. Release.
    • The progress of the initialization is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator.
    • When the initialization is complete, a beep sounds 2 times, and all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds.
    • All the settings are set back to the factory default except for the wireless connection information between primary and secondary speakers.

  1. Speaker unit (Coaxial 2-way unit)

  3. Power indicator
    • Blue: The unit is on.
    • Off: The unit is in standby mode.
  4. Remote control signal sensor
    • Reception distance: Within approx. 7 m directly in front
    • Reception angle: Approx. 30° left and right
  5. LED indicator
    • The LED indicators on this unit light up in the following manner to indicate the current status.
  6. Switch the input source
    • Each time you press the switch, a beep sound will be heard. (You can turn the beep sound on/off from the “Technics Audio Center” app.)
  7. [ ] Standby/on button
    • Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power.
  8. Mute the sound
    • Press again to cancel. Muting is also canceled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby.
  9. Built-in microphone (for measurement)
  10. Adjust the volume
    • LED indicators light up from 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum) to show the current volume level when adjusting the volume or turning this unit on. (The LED indicators blink while this unit is muted.)

This unit (rear)

  1. P/S LINK terminal (P/S LINK)
    • Use for the wired connection between primary and secondary speakers.
  2. Analog audio output terminal (SUBWOOFER OUT)
    • You can connect the subwoofer, etc. with an analog audio cable (not supplied) to output the analog audio signals.
    • You can set up the output from SUBWOOFER OUT from the “Technics Audio Center” app. (The factory default is “On”.)
  3. P/S CONNECT button
    • Use for the manual connection between the primary and secondary speakers if the wireless connection is not established automatically.
    • L/R ASSIGN switch
    • When switching the assignment (L/R) of the primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel.
  4. HDMI terminal (HDMI ARC)
    • You can connect the HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.) with an HDMI cable (not supplied) to this unit and playback music.
    • Please use a Premium High-Speed HDMI cable.
  5. USB-C terminal (USB-C)
    • You can connect the PC, etc., or another device with a USB 2.0 cable (not supplied) to this unit and playback music.
  6. LAN terminal
  7. Optical digital input terminal (OPT-IN)
    • You can connect a digital audio output device, etc. with an optical digital audio cable (not supplied) and playback music.
  8. AC IN terminal ( )
  9. Analog audio input terminal (AUX)
    • You can connect an analog audio output to a device with an analog audio cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music.
  10. Analog audio input terminals (PHONO)
    • You can connect the turntable with a PHONO cable (not supplied) to this unit and play music.
    • Please use the cable less than 3 m. 12 PHONO EARTH terminal
    • For connecting the ground wire of a turntable.

Remote control

  1. Standby/on the switch
    • Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power.
  2. [DIMMER]: Adjust the brightness of the LED indicator
    • The LED indicators all turn off when pressing and holding [DIMMER] for 4 seconds.
  3. [NET]/[ -PAIRING]/[OPT]/[HDMI]/[USB]/[AUX]/[PHONO]: Switch the input source.
  4. Start the adjustment with the Space Tune function.
  5. Playback operation buttons
  6. [-VOL+]: Adjust the volume
    • LED indicator lights 1 (min) to 7 (max) according to the current volume when adjusting the volume.
  7. [MUTE]: Mute the sound
    • Press again to cancel. Muting is also canceled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby.

Using the remote control

Note

  • Insert the battery so the terminals ( and ) match those in the remote control.
  • Point it at the remote control signal sensor on this unit.
  • Keep the batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.

Connections

Speaker settings

Speaker Assignments (L/R)

Once the connection is established, adjust the speaker assignments. (The primary speaker is factory-assigned to R by default.)

  • When switching the assignment (L/R) of the primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel.
  • After changing the speaker assignment (L/R), turn this unit off and then on again.

Speaker connection
When you connect the AC mains to this unit without the Speaker Link cable connected, the speakers are automatically connected wirelessly.

Note

  • If the connection fails, the LED indicator on the front will blink every 3 seconds (3 times). Turn this unit off and on to reconnect the speakers.
  • If the speakers still cannot connect, press and hold the PS CONNECT button on the primary speaker for 2 seconds to connect manually.
  • For higher sound quality or if the connection is unstable causing noise or interrupting sound on the secondary speaker, use a wired connection with the supplied speaker link cable.
  • The maximum sampling rate is 192 kHz for a wired connection and 96 kHz for a wireless connection.

Digital audio output device connection

  • When enjoying video content with this function, the video and audio output may not be synchronized.
  • The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect the following linear PCM signals.
  • For details, refer to the operating instructions of the connected device.
    • Sampling frequency: 32/44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz
    • Number of quantization bits: 16/24 bit

Connecting HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.)

  • Use Premium High-Speed HDMI cables when connecting to peripheral devices.

  • Connect this unit to the HDMI input terminal which has an ARC (Audio Return Channel) function.

  • Set the audio output from TV speakers to Off.

  • For details, refer to the operating instructions of the TV.
    Note

  • Linear PCM signal is only available for the ARC function.

  • Do not input signals other than linear PCM signal, otherwise it may cause noise or damage.

  • For the equipment that does not support ARC function, set “HDMI ARC” to “Off” from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

  • The volume may be lower depending on the connected TV.

Connecting PC, etc

Note
The USB-C terminal of this unit is for data transfer only and does not support charging USB devices.

Analog audio output device connection


When connecting a turntable with a built-in PHONO equalizer, turn the equalizer of the turntable off or connect the PHONO cable to the analog audio input terminals (AUX) of this unit.

  • When connecting a turntable with a PHONO earth lead, connect the PHONO earth lead to the PHONO EARTH terminal of this unit.

Note

  • Tighten the PHONO EARTH terminal using a Phillips head screwdriver.

AC mains lead connection
Connect only after all other connections are completed.

  • Use only the supplied AC mains lead.
  • Do not connect the AC mains lead until all other connections are complete.
  • Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected in.
  • Do not bend cables at sharp angles.
  • Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) setting may start when this unit is turned on and the LED indicator on the top (NET) of this unit blinks.
  • If the network function is not used, you can disable the Wi-Fi settings by pressing and holding [NET] on this unit, and this unit always switches to the last selected input when this unit is turned on.
  • If you stop the Wi-Fi setting, switch the input source by pressing the touch switch on the top of this unit.
  • The LED indicator does not blink when a LAN cable is connected.

Note

  • When this unit is turned on, the power indicator of the secondary speaker lights up first, and when this unit is turned off, the power indicator of the secondary speaker turns off first.
  • This unit consumes a small amount of AC power even when the unit is in standby mode. Remove the plug from the main electrical outlet if you will not be using the unit for an extended period. Place the unit so the plug can be easily removed.

Network settings
You can stream online music services or music files from your smartphone/tablet to this unit. To use these features, this system must join the same internet-connected network as a compatible device. This unit can be connected to a router using a LAN cable or built-in Wi-Fi®. For a stable connection to the network, a wired LAN connection is recommended.

Note

  • When the firmware for this unit is available, the LED indicator on the front of the primary speaker softly flickers every 10 seconds for 1 second each time.

Preparation

If you install the “Technics Audio Center” app on your smartphone/tablet, you can set up a connection using the application.

  • When using Chromecast-enabled apps to play music on this unit, set up a connection using the “Technics Audio Center” app and a Google Assistant-enabled device.
  • When using AirPlay to play music on this unit, add the product to Home in the Apple Home app. Adding this unit to the network via Apple. The home app will also allow the user to stream audio using Siri.
  • Make sure that the Wi-Fi function and Bluetooth® functions are activated on your smartphones/tablets.
  • Install the “Technics Audio Center” app on your smartphone/tablet.
  • Connect your smartphone/tablet to the same network as this unit before setting.
  • Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.

Wired LAN connection

  1. Disconnect the AC mains lead.
  2. Connect this unit to a broadband router, etc. using a LAN cable.
  3. Connect the AC mains to this unit. Press to turn this unit on. If the connection is not established, the LED indicator on the top (NET) of this unit blinks when the input source is switched to “NET”.
  4. Open the “Technics Audio Center” app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a connection.

Note

  • While the AC mains lead is disconnected, the LAN cable must be connected or disconnected.
  • Use category 7 or above straight LAN cables (STP) when connecting to peripheral devices.
  • Inserting any cable other than a LAN cable in the LAN port can damage the unit.
  • When a LAN cable is connected, the Wi-Fi function may be disabled. (The LED indicators do not blink.)

Wireless LAN connection

Preparation

  • Disconnect the AC mains lead.
  • Disconnect the LAN cable.
  • Place this unit as close to the wireless router as possible.
  • Connect the AC mains to this unit. ( 14)

Note

  • The setting will be canceled after the set time limit. In that case, try the setting again
  • To cancel this setting in the middle, switch the input source by pressing the touch switch on the top of this unit.
  • When the connection is established, all the LED indicators on the front/top of this unit light up for 2 seconds.

Network setting for the first time using the app

  1. Press to turns this unit on. The LED indicator on the front/top (NET) of this unit blinks.
  2. Open the “Technics Audio Center” app.
  3. Select “Click here for wireless setup for your new main unit”.
  4. Select this unit and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the network.

Note

  • This unit will be displayed as “Technics-SCCX700-” if the device name is not set. (“” stands for characters unique to each set.)
  • You can check your network information (SSID, MAC address, and IP address) from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

When resetting the wireless setup

  1. Press and hold [NET] on this unit for 5 seconds. After a beep sounds once, the LED indicators on the top (NET) and the front of this unit blink simultaneously every second.

  2. Open the “Technics Audio Center” app.

  3. Select “Click here for wireless setup for your new main unit”.

  4. Select this unit and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the network.
    Note

    • This unit will be displayed as “Technics-SCCX700-” if the device name is not set. (“” stands for characters unique to each set.)
    • You can check your network information (SSID, MAC address, and IP address) from the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Streaming music over the network
This unit is compatible with Chromecast-enabled apps. For detailed information on Chromecast-enabled apps, visit g.co/cast/apps You can also stream music files from the device on your network to this unit by using the “Technics Audio Center” app. Download and install the app from the website below.  www.technics.com/support/

  • You can also stream music over AirPlay.

Preparation

  • Complete the network settings. (Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.)
  • Install the supported application on your device.
  • Connect the device to the network currently used at home.
  • Open a Chromecast-enabled app, AirPlay-enabled app, or “Technics Audio Center” app on your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), and select this unit as the output speaker.
  • Play back the music.

Playback
Online music streaming services (NET)
You can stream music services (Internet Radio / Podcasts / Spotify / TIDAL / Deezer / Amazon Music / Qobuz / Chromecast built-in / AirPlay, etc.) with this unit by using the “Technics Audio Center” app.

Complete the network settings.

  1. Press [NET].
    • The LED indicator on the top of this unit (NET) lights up.
  2. Open the “Technics Audio Center” app and follow the on-screen instructions.

The services provided by their respective service providers may be changed or discontinued without notice. Panasonic bears no responsibility for the change or discontinuance of their services. Not all music streaming services are available in all countries/regions. Registration/ subscription may be required, or fees may be charged to use music streaming services. Important notice
Before you dispose of or transfer this unit to a third party, be sure to log out of your music streaming services accounts to prevent unauthorized use of your accounts.

Using Bluetooth

  • Registering the Bluetooth® device

  • Turn on the Bluetooth® feature of the device and place the device near this unit.

  • If a Bluetooth® device is already connected, disconnect it.

  • Press [ -PAIRING]. The LED indicator on the top of this unit ( ) blinks the first time to register the device. If any device has been registered before, this unit automatically tries to connect to it.

  • By pressing and holding [ -PAIRING] the unit starts waiting for registration.

  • Select “Technics-SC-CX700-****” from the Bluetooth® device’s menu.

  • The LED indicator on the top (Bluetooth) and front of this unit blinks every second while pairing.

  • The MAC address “” (“” stands for a character that is unique to each set.) may be displayed before “Technics-SCCX700-****” is displayed.

  • If the device name is set in your application, the set name is displayed.
    Note

  • You can also enter pairing mode by pressing and holding [ -PAIRING] when the input of the source is other than “Bluetooth”.

  • If prompted for the passkey, input “0000”.

Listening to music stored on a Bluetooth® device

  1. Press [ -PAIRING].

    • The LED indicator on the top (Bluetooth) lights up when the connection is established. (The LED blinks while connecting.)
  2. Select “Technics-SC-CX700-****” from the Bluetooth® device’s menu.

    • If the device name is set in your application, the set name is displayed.
  3. Start playback on the Bluetooth® device.
    Note

    • To use this unit’s remote control with a Bluetooth® device, the Bluetooth® device must support AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile).
    • Depending on the status of the device, some controls may not work.
    • When enjoying video content with this function, the video and audio output may not be synchronized.
    • This unit can only be connected to one device at a time.
    • The Bluetooth® device will be disconnected if a different audio source is selected.

External equipment
(OPT/HDMI/USB/AUX/PHONO)
You can connect several pieces of equipment (OPT/ HDMI/USB/AUX/PHONO) to this unit and play music.

Connect the equipment

  1. Press [OPT] / [HDMI] / [USB] / [AUX] /[PHONO]. The LED indicator on the top of this unit lights up.
  2. Start playback on the connected device.

Format
This unit supports the following formats.

  • This unit does not support the playback of copy-protected music files.
  • Playback of all files in formats supported by this unit is not guaranteed.
  • Playback of a file in a format not supported by this unit may cause choppy audio or noise. In such cases, check to see if this unit supports the file format.
  • This unit does not support VBR (Variable Bit Rate) playback.
  • Files larger than 2 GB cannot be played. Some of the connected devices or servers may be capable of converting files in formats not supported by this unit and outputting them. For details, refer to the operating instructions for your devices or servers.
  • File information (sampling frequency, etc.) shown by this unit and playback software may differ from each other.
  • Depending on the PC, application, etc., the content may not be played back even though the sampling frequency is supported. Check the PC, application, etc. to play back properly.

Whether or not each music file can be played back over your network is determined by the network server even if the format of the file is listed above. For example, if you are using Windows Media Player 11, not all music files on the PC are playable. You can play back only those added to the library of Windows Media Player 11.
