Product Usage Instructions

Prior to Installation:

Before starting the installation process, read and understand the instructions provided. Failure to follow the instructions may void the warranty.

Tools for Easy Installation:

Ensure you have the following tools ready for installation: Soft Cloth or Alcohol Wipe, Utility Knife, Awl, Socket Wrench, 8mm Socket, Phillips Screwdriver.

Fit Verification:

Verify the fit of the flares to your vehicle before installation. Some adjustments like filing, sanding, or cutting may be necessary for a proper fit.

Performance Considerations:

Using larger tires may require additional space to turn the vehicle. Adjustments like lowering bump stops or installing steering stops may be necessary.

Exhaust System:

Ensure a minimum 4-inch clearance between the flares and exhaust pipes. Modify the exhaust system if required to prevent direct contact with the flares.

Metal Protection:

Treat exposed fasteners and bare metal with rust-resistant paint before installing the flares. Apply undercoating to inner fender wells after attaching the flares.

Care & Cleaning:

Use a mild detergent to clean the fender flares. Avoid harsh abrasive detergents that can damage the surface.

If You Purchased Glossy Black Flares (Code RCGB):

Section 1: Edge Trim Installation

  1. Clean the vehicle area for installation using a soft cloth or alcohol wipe.
  2. Peel off the red vinyl backing from the edge trim tape and affix it to the top edge of the flare.
  3. Press the edge trim into place along the top edge of the flare in one-foot increments, trimming flush with the ends of the flare.

Section 2: Front Flare Installation

  1. If your vehicle has factory flares, remove them before installing.
  2. Remove 2 factory screws from the mud flap and retain them. Pull out the mud flap by disengaging hidden plastic clips.

FAQ:

  • Q: What should I do if I encounter scratching or paint wear between the fender flares and the vehicle’s fenders?
A: The manufacturer is not responsible for such damage. Ensure the fender flares are installed correctly and maintain them regularly to prevent debris buildup that can cause scratching.

  • Q: How can I claim a warranty against manufacturing defects?
A: To claim a warranty, provide proof of purchase to validate your claim.

PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

  • A) Install the flares according to these written instructions with the hardware provided. WARNING: Failure to install according to these instructions will invalidate the warranty. This includes, but is not limited to, using alternative installation methods, hardware, or materials. DO NOT USE Loctite, Superglue, or similar products on the hardware or the flares. Install flares on cleaned vehicle surfaces.

  • B) Fit: Verify the fit of the flares to the vehicle before installation (some filing, sanding, or cutting may be necessary to ensure proper fit).

  • C) Painting: (Optional) if paint is desired it must be done before installing flares on the vehicle. Clean the outer surface with a good-grade degreaser. DO NOT USE LACQUER THINNER OR ENAMEL REDUCER AS A DEGREASER. Wipe the outer surface thoroughly with a tack rag prior to paint. Application of plastic adhesion promoter for ABS plastic as per your paint system manufacturer’s recommendations is required. Paint flares using a high-quality enamel, or polyurethane automotive paint. If painting edge trim (not recommended), use a flex additive.

  • D) Performance: Using larger tires may increase the area required to turn the vehicle. Some tire/rim combinations may require lowering bump stops and or installing steering stops to prevent tire from contacting flare.

  • E) Exhaust System: Modifications may be necessary to maintain a minimum 4” clearance between flares and exhaust pipes. (Exhaust gases should not vent directly onto flares)

  • F) Metal Protection: All exposed fasteners and bare metal should be treated with
rust resistant paint BEFORE installing flares. Spray inner fender wells with undercoating AFTER flare attachments have been completed.

  • G) Decals: Flares may interfere with existing decals on the vehicle. If you wish, remove decals before the installation of flares.

  • H) Care & Cleaning: Fender flares are built to last; any detergent you use to wash your vehicle is sufficient to clean the flare. Do not use any harsh abrasive detergents.

PLEASE READ:
Dirt and debris can become lodged between the fender flares and the vehicle’s fenders, causing scratching and paint wear from vibration. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage, and the installation of our fender flares is done with the buyer’s understanding that this scratching and paint wear may occur.

LIMITED LIFETIME

INCLUDED IN HARDWARE KIT

IF YOU PURCHASED GLOSSY BLACK FLARES (CODE “RCGB”):

  • Prior to beginning the installation process, peel the protective liner from each plastic piece included in the flare kit – all flares and inner pieces.
NOTE : Removing liner once edge trim and hardware are installed will be difficult.

  • Once the liner is removed, take care not to scratch flare surfaces. If flare needs to be cleaned, wipe gently with a clean soft cloth.

EDGE TRIM INSTALLATION

  • Using a debris-free soft cloth or alcohol wipe, clean the vehicle at areas of installation.
  • Peel 2-3 inches of red vinyl backing away from supplied edge trim tape. Applying the adhesive side of the edge trim to the inner side of the flare, affix the edge trim to the top edge of the flare (the portion that comes in contact with the side of the vehicle).
  • Press edge trim into place along the top edge of the flare in one-foot increments, pulling red vinyl backing free as you continue to work your way around the top edge of the flare. Trim edge trim flush with ends of flare.

FRONT FLARE INSTALLATION

NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY FLARES, THESE MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE INSTALLATION.

  1. Remove 2 factory screws from the mud flap. Retain screws. Pull the mud flap towards you to remove, disengaging 2 hidden plastic clips.
  2. Remove and retain 3 factory screws as shown.
  3. Align the flare with the vehicle. Start 5 factory screws through holes in the flare and into factory holes.
  4. Apply pressure to the flare, toward the fender, and tighten all screws.
  5. Complete Front Flare Installation.

REAR FLARE INSTALLATION

NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY FLARES, THESE MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

  • If the vehicle is equipped with full fender liners, remove the top-most factory screw at the top of the fender; retain it for reuse. If the vehicle is not equipped with fender liners, proceed to Step 8.
  • Using an 8mm socket, remove and retain the factory screw at the front of the rear wheel well.
  • Using an 8mm socket, remove 2 fasteners at the rear mudflap. Retain factory screws. Pull until plastic clips are released.
  • Remove and retain 3 factory screws.
  • Peel the liner from a supplied Mounting Tab and center over the top-most factory hole. If the vehicle had full-wheel well liners, no tab or clip is needed – skip to Step 14.
  • Using an awl, pierce the Mounting Tab into the factory hole underneath.
  • Slide a supplied “U” Clip over the mounting tab centering over the hole made in Step 12.
  • Align flare on fender. Using a Philips screwdriver, start supplied Truss Head Screw through the flare and into the clip installed in Step 13. If no clip was installed, reuse the factory screw removed in Step 7.
  • Install 6 retained factory screws through the remaining holes in the flare and into factory holes in the fender.
  • Apply pressure to the flare, toward the fender, and tighten all screws.
  • Complete Rear Flare Installation.
