Network Card

Product Usage Instructions
Installation:
- Unplug the Power Cable from the back of the Host Server and disconnect any Peripheral Devices.
- Remove the Cover from the Server Case following the Host Server documentation.
- Locate an open OCP NIC 3.0 Slot and remove the corresponding Slot Cover Plate.
- Gently insert the Server Network Card into the OCP NIC 3.0 Slot and turn the Locking Screw to attach it to the back of the Server Case/Chassis.
- Return the Cover onto the Host Server.
- Connect one or more Network Cables to the RJ45 Ports on the Server Network Card.
- Reconnect all disconnected Peripheral Devices.
- Reconnect the Power Cable to the back of the Host Server.
- Turn on the Host Server and Peripheral Devices.
Driver Installation
- Windows:
- Extract the downloaded Driver Package and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Refer to the Intel_Windows_DIG file for further Installation Instructions.
- Linux:
- Extract the contents of the Driver Package.
- Follow the instructions in the accompanying README file for further Installation Instructions.
Verify Driver Installation:
- Windows:
1. Navigate to Device Manager and check under Network Adapters for Intel(R) I350 Gigabit Network Connection.
2. Confirm proper installation by checking Properties.
- Linux:
1. Check the kernel version using the uname -r command.
2. Type sudo dmesg | grep Intel in Terminal to verify Intel Driver Integration.

- Host server with an available OCP NIC 3.0 slot
Installation
Install the Server Network Card
WARNING!
Static Electricity can severely damage Network Cards. Ensure that you are
adequately grounded before you open your Host Server Case or touch the Server
Network Card. You should wear an Anti-Static Strap or use an Anti-Static Mat
when installing any computer component. If an Anti-Static Strap isn’t
available, discharge any built-up static electricity by touching a large
Grounded Metal Surface for several seconds. Only handle the Server Network
Card by its edges and do not touch the gold connectors.
- Turn off the Host Server and any Peripheral Devices that are connected to it (e.g. printers, external hard drives, etc.).
- Unplug the Power Cable from the back of the Host Server, and disconnect any Peripheral Devices that are connected.
- Remove the Cover from the Server Case. Consult the documentation that came with the Host Server for details about doing this safely.
- Locate an open OCP NIC 3.0 Slot and remove the corresponding Slot Cover Plate from the back of the Host Server.
- Gently insert the Server Network Card into the OCP NIC 3.0 Slot. Turn the Locking Screw to attach the Server Network Card to the back of the Server Case/Chassis.
- Return the Cover onto the Host Server.
- Connect one or more Network Cable/s to the RJ45 Ports on the Server Network Card.
- Reconnect all of the Peripheral Devices disconnected in Step 2.
- Reconnect the Power Cable to the back of the Host Server.
- Turn on the Host Server and Peripheral Devices.
Download the Driver
- Navigate to www.startech.com/OR41GI-NETWORK-CARD
- Click the Drivers & Downloads tab.
- Under Driver(s), download the Driver Package.
Install the Driver
Windows

Right-click the zipped Driver Package that was downloaded. Click Extract All. Follow the on-screen instructions to extract the files.
Note : Windows usually saves the files to the Downloads folder associated with the user account (e.g. C:\Users\useraccount\Downloads) -
Follow the instructions on the accompanying Intel_Windows_DIG file for further Installation Instructions.
Linux
- Extract the contents of the Driver Package.
- Follow the instructions on the accompanying README file for further Installation Instructions

Verify the Driver Installation
Windows
- Navigate to the Device Manager.
- Under Network Adapters, right-click Intel(R) I350 Gigabit Network Connection and click the Properties option.
- Confirm that the Driver is installed and working as expected.
Linux
Note : Ensure Linux kernel 2.4 (LTS) or higher is being used. Execute the
following command from the terminal prompt to check the kernel version, uname
-r.
- Open a Terminal Window and type the command sudo dmesg | grep Intel to check the Intel Driver Integration.
- You should see the following response if the drivers are present, Intel(R) Gigabit Network Driver.
