SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before using this appliance, read the instructions below carefully and keep them for future reference.

  1. BURN HAZARD. Keep the appliance out of reach from young children, particularly during use and cool down.

  2. Before plugging the appliance into a wall socket, check that the local electric current matches the current specified on the rating label. Always plug your appliance into an earthed wall socket.

  3. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

  4. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in
    a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

  5. The marking of this device (symbol of a crossed-out dustbin) complies with European Directive 2012/19/EU relating to „used electrical and electronic equipment“.
    This marking means that this equipment, at the end of its useful life, cannot be disposed of with other household waste.
    The user is required to deliver it to operators who collect used electrical and electronic equipment. Collection operators, including local collection points, shops and local authorities, create an appropriate system for collecting equipment. Appropriate collection of used electrical and electronic equipment helps avoid harmful impacts on human health and the environment, resulting from the presence of hazardous components, as well as from improper storage and treatment of this equipment.

  6. Unplug from the socket once you have finished using the appliance and before cleaning it.

  7. Warning! Do not submerge the power cord, the plug or the appliance in water or in any other liquid! Never place the appliance under running water!

  8. Danger of death!
    WARNING: Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water. Even when it is switched off, when the power cord is plugged in, keep the appliance away from water and any other liquid. Always place the device so that it cannot fall anywhere where there is water or other liquid.

  9. Only use this appliance for the intended purpose. The appliance is not intended for commercial use. This appliance is exclusively designed for domestic indoor use.

  10. Never use or keep the appliance outdoors.

  11. Tips for cleaning the appliance are provided in the “Cleaning and Care” chapter.

  12. Never use accessories that are not supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.

  13. Do not use an extension cord with this tool.

  14. Always turn off the appliance before unplugging it.

  15. Insert the plug into an easily accessible electrical socket so that you can immediately unplug the appliance in the event of an emergency. Remove the plug from the socket to completely stop the appliance. Use the plug as a power cut-off device.

  16. Make sure that the cable, as well as the electric power cord and the plug do not come into contact with hot surfaces.

  17. To prevent any damage to the power cord, make sure it does not get crushed, twisted or rubbed against sharp edges. Also keep the power cord away from all hot surfaces and open flames.

  18. Arrange the cord so that no one can pull on it or inadvertently trip over it.

  19. Never use a damaged appliance! Unplug the appliance from the electrical socket and contact the retailer if it is damaged.

  20. Risk of electric shock! Do not try to repair the device yourself. In the event of a malfunction, repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel.

  21. Do not use the appliance with wet hands or if you’re standing on a wet floor. Do not touch the plug with wet hands.

  22. Never open the appliance’s housing! Do not insert any foreign bodies into the housing.

  23. Do not place any heavy objects on the appliance. Do not place any objects that give off a flame (e.g. candles) on or next to the appliance. Do not place any objects containing water (e.g. vases) on or near the appliance.

  24. Keep the appliance away from all hot surfaces and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from heat, cold, dust, direct sunlight, humidity, and all drips or splashes of water.

  25. Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.

  26. If the appliance drops into water, unplug the power cord first before immersing your hands in the water.

  27. Do not use the appliance when you have bare feet.

  28. Do not leave the appliance unsupervised when it is in use or if the power cord is plugged into a socket.

  29. Your skin should not come into contact with the hot surfaces of the device; be especially careful with your eyes, ears, face, neck and hands. Only hold the appliance by the handle.

  30. Do not use the appliance too close to the scalp.

  31. Let the device cool down before storing it.

  32. Always place the appliance with the stand, if any, on a heat-resistant, stable flat surface. Do not place the device on carpets, bedding, towels, etc.

  33. When in use, do not use hairspray, water sprays or any other sprays near to the appliance. Only use them when the appliance is switched off and when the power cord is unplugged.

  34. For additional protection, the installation of a residual current device (RCD) having a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA is advisable in the electrical circuit supplying the bathroom. Ask your installer for advice.

  35. Risk of suffocation! Keep all packaging materials out of the reach of children and babies!

  36. Recycle the packaging materials in accordance with regulations.
    Ask local authorities where dedicated collection centers and rubbish dumps are located.

  37. Regularly check the power cord for damage. If damage occurs, immediately stop using the appliance and take the device to a qualified professional for repair.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Unpack all parts and check for damage that may have occurred during transportation.

  1. If any parts are damaged or missing, contact our after-sales service team.
  2. Clean the device and its components (→ CLEANING AND CARE).

OPERATION

■ Only use the hair straightener on clean, healthy, dry, and untangled hair.
■ Rest the hair straightener on a smooth, sturdy, flat and heat-resistant surface. Alternatively, use the hook (4) to hang the hair straightener up on a hook making sure there are no flammable items nearby.

  1. Fully unwind the swivel power cord (5) and plug it into a suitable power outlet.

  2. To turn the hair straightener on and start heating the plates, slide the —/O button (2) to the — position. The LED indicator will turn on and the plates are being heated.

  3. Slide the lock button (3) to the unlock position to open the device and start using it.

  4. Take a slim section of hair (max. 3-4 cm wide). Place the hair between the heating plates at the roots. Then clamp the hair straightener firmly onto the hair, slowly pull the hair straightener toward the ends of the hair to straighten in a steady movement that lasts a total of more than 2 seconds.
    TIP: To create a flick at the hair ends, slowly turn the hair straightener either inwards or outwards before releasing the hair.

  5. Once you have finished using the device, slide the —/O button (2) to the O position to turn it off.

  6. Press the handles together and slide the lock button (3) to the lock position  to lock the heating plates.

  7. Unplug the device from the electrical outlet after each use. Allow the device to cool down completely before storing.
    WARNING: Never leave the device unattended while it is plugged in. Unplug the device from the power outlet after each use to avoid electrical hazards.

CLEANING AND CARE

WARNING: Before cleaning, unplug the device from the power outlet and allow it to cool down completely.
WARNING: Never immerse the power cord, plug or device in water or any liquid to avoid the risk of fire or electrocution. Do not rinse these electrical parts under the tap. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.

CLEANING

  1. Wipe the hair straightener with a soft cloth lightly moistened with water. Make sure that no moisture enters the device during the cleaning process.
  2. Never use corrosive detergents, wire brushes, metal or abrasive pads, or sharp tools to clean the device.
  3. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
  4. Never use solvents, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects or scouring pads to clean the device.

STORAGE

  1. Always unplug the device when it is not in use.
  2. Allow the device to cool down completely before storing.
  3. Never wrap the power cord around the device. This will cause the cord to wear prematurely and break. Coil the cord loosely next to the device.
  4. Always handle the cord with care, and avoid jerking, twisting or straining it, especially at plug connections.
  5. Store the device in a safe, clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of the reach of children.
