SAFETY & WARNINGS

  • Read all the instructions in this user guide and store the user guide for future use.

  • Ensure the wall outlet voltage corresponds to the rated voltage marked on the rating plate.

  • This appliance has been incorporated with a grounded plug. Ensure the wall outlet in your house is well earthed.

  • Do not immerse cord or plug in water or other liquid to avoid electric shock and injury to persons.

  • Remove plug from the wall outlet before cleaning and when not in use. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before taking off, attaching other components, or before cleaning.

  • If the cord or plug is damaged, cease use immediately and contact Kogan.com

  • Do not operate this appliance if the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorised service facility for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.

  • Do not use attachments that not recommended by Kogan.com. it may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.

  • Place appliance on flat surface or table. Do not hang power cord over the edge of table or counter.

  • Ensure the power cord do not touch the hot surface of the appliance.

  • Do not place the appliance on a hot surface or beside the fire to avoid damage.

  • To disconnect, remove the plug from the wall outlet. Always hold the plug; never pull the cord.

  • Do not use the appliance for other than intended use and place it in a dry environment.

  • Close supervision is necessary when your appliance is being used near children.

  • Use caution when operating the steam wand. Steam can reach very high temperatures and may cause burns.

  • Do not touch the hot surface of the appliance (such as a steam wand and the steel mesh). Use handles or knobs.

  • Do not let the appliance operate without water.

  • Do not remove the Filter when the appliance is brewing coffee or making steam.

  • Ensure the plug is in the wall outlet before using the appliance. Ensure to turn off the switch before removing the plug from the wall outlet.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliances by a person responsible for their safety.

  • Supervise children to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar environments such as:
    o Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments.
    o Farmhouses.
    o By clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments.
    o Bed and breakfast type environments.

  • Do not use the appliance outdoors.

  • If you plan to not use the product for a long time, you need to turn on the power to release steam for 3 minutes before storing this product

  • If you stop power supply during steam release, the residual heat will make product continue to release steam for a longer time. The appliance will stop releasing steam immediately once you turn off steam knob.

INSTALLATION

Before the First Use

You should rinse the appliance with warm water. Follow the below instructions:

  1. Pour water into the Water Tank, the water level should not exceed the MAX mark in the tank. Then replace the Water Tank Cover.
    Note: The appliance is supplied with a detachable tank for easy cleaning. Fill the tank with water and then put the tank into the appliance.

  2. Place the 2-Cup Steel Mesh into the Filter. Ensure there is no coffee in the steel mesh.
  3. Place a jug (not supplied) on the Removable Shelf. Make sure the Steam Control Knob is off.
  4. Connect to a power source, press the Power button, the power indicator is illuminated.
  5. Press the Pump Control button, the pump will pump water. When water is flowing out, press the Pump Control button to close the pump.
  6. Press the Coffee/Steam Selector and wait for a moment, the appliance begins preheating. The coffee temperature indicator will be illuminated and that indicates the preheating has been completed.
  7. Press the Pump Control button and water will flow out.
  8. After the water flow has stopped, you can pour the water that is collected in the jug into each container and clean them thoroughly. Now you can start brewing.
    Note: There may be noise when pumping the water for the first time, it is normal. It is due to appliance releasing the air inside. After about 20 seconds, the noise will disappear.

Preheating

We recommend preheating the appliance before making coffee, including the funnel, filter, and cup.

  1. Remove the detachable Water Tank and open the Water Tank Cover to fill it with water. The water level should not exceed the MAX mark in the tank. Then place the tank into the appliance properly.
  2. Set Steel Mesh into the Filter. Align the Filter with the groove in the appliance, then insert the Filter into the appliance from the “Insert” position. Lock it into place by turning firmly from “Insert” position, anticlockwise to the “Lock” position.
  3. Place a cup on the Removable Shelf.
  4. Then connect the appliance to the power supply. Make sure the Steam Control Knob is off.
  5. Press the Power button one time, the power indicator is illuminated. Press the Coffee/Steam Selector.
  6. Press the Pump Control button, the pump will pump water. When water is flowing out, press the Pump Control button immediately to close the pump. The purpose of this step is to pump the water of the tank into the housing.
  7. When the coffee temperature indicator is illuminated, you should press the Pump Control button again, hot water will flow out. When the coffee temperature indicator has extinguished, press the button to close the pump. Now the appliance has been preheated.

OPERATION

Make Espresso Coffee
  1. After preheating, remove the Filter by turning it in clockwise. Add ground coffee beans to the 2-Cup Steel Mesh with the Spoon, then press the grounds tightly with the Tamper (opposite end of the spoon).
  2. Set Steel Mesh into the Filter. Align the filter with the groove in the appliance, then insert the filter into the appliance from the “Insert” position. Lock it into place by turning firmly from “Insert” position, anticlockwise to the “Lock” position.
  3. Place a cup on the Removable Shelf.
  4. The coffee temperature indicator is illuminated, if it gets extinguished, wait for a few minutes, it will be illuminated again. Press the Pump Control button and wait for a few minutes and the coffee will start flowing out.
  5. Press the Power button when desired coffee is obtained or the colour of coffee changes. The indicator lights will turn off, and the appliance will finish pouring the coffee.
    WARNING: Do not leave the appliance unattended while making the coffee, as you may have to operate manually sometimes

  6.  After the coffee is ready, take out the Filter by turning it clockwise and then pour the coffee residue out by releasing the Eject Switch on the Filter.
  7. Let the steel mesh cool down completely, then rinse under running water.
Make Cappuccino or Frothed Milk

You can make a cup of cappuccino by adding frothed milk to a cup of espresso.

  1. Prepare espresso as instructed in the Make Espresso Coffee section. Ensure that the Steam Control Knob is at the “o” position.

  2. Press the Coffee/Steam Selector, the coffee temperature indicator will be illuminated, wait until the steam temperature indicator is illuminated.
    Note: During operation, the steam temperature indicator will cycle on and off to maintain the desired temperature.

  3. Fill a jug with about 100 millilitres of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared. It is recommended to use whole milk at refrigerator temperature.
    Note: Ensure the jug size is not less than 70±5mm. Ensure that the height of the jug is good enough as the milk increases in volume by 2 times after boiling.

  4. Turn the Steam Control Knob anti-clockwise slowly, steam will come out of the Frothing Device.
    Note: Never turn the Steam Control Knob rapidly, as the steam will accumulate rapidly in a short time which may increase the risk of explosion.

  5. Insert the Frothing Device about 2 centimetres into the milk, move the cup around the device to froth milk.

  6. When the frothed milk is ready, turn the Steam Control Knob back to “o” position.
    Note: Clean the steam outlet carefully with a wet sponge immediately after the steam generation has stopped.

  7. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso that is already prepared. Now the cappuccino is ready. Sweeten to taste and if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder.

  8. Press the Power button to stop the power supply. The indicator lights will turn off.
    Note: Allow the appliance to cool down for at least 5 minutes before making coffee again. Otherwise, there might be burnt odour in your espresso coffee.

Make Steam

The Steam Wand can be used to make hot beverages like water, or tea.

  1. Open the Top Cover. Remove the detachable Water Tank and fill it with desired amount of water. The water level should not exceed the MAX mark in the tank. Then place the tank into the appliance properly.
  2. Replace the Top Cover and then connect the appliance to a power supply.
  3. Press the Power button, the power indicator is illuminated.
  4. Remove the Frothing Device from the Steam Wand.
  5. Dip the Steam Wand into the liquid to be heated. Turn the Steam Control Knob anti-clockwise slowly to start making steam.
  6. When the required temperature is reached, you can turn the Steam Control Knob to “o” position.
  7. Press the Power button to stop the power supply.
Automatic Power off Function

If you do not perform any operation for 25 minutes, the appliance will turn off automatically.

CLEANING & CARE

  1. Remove the power supply and let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning.

  2. Clean the appliance’s main body with moisture-proof sponge. Clean the water tank, drip tray and removable shelf regularly and dry them.
    Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleaner. Never immerse the appliance’s main body in water for cleaning.

  3. Detach the Filter by turning it clockwise. Remove the coffee residue. Clean it with cleanser. Rinse with clear water.

  4. Clean all the attachments with water and dry them thoroughly.

Cleaning Mineral Deposits

To make sure your appliance is operating efficiently, and internal piping is clean, clean mineral deposits every 2 to 3 months. Follow the below instructions:

  1. Fill the tank with water and descaling solution to the MAX level. The ratio of water and descaling solution is 4:1. It is recommended to use homemade descaling solution like citric acid (obtainable from chemists or drug stores). Add 3 millilitres of citric acid to 100 millilitres of water.
  2. Like in the preheating process, insert and lock the Filter into the appliance (no ground coffee beans in it). Place a jug on the Removable Shelf.
  3. Press the Power button, the power indicator will be illuminated.
  4. Press the Pump Control button and Coffee/Steam Selector. When the water starts flowing out, close the pump by pressing the Pump Control button and wait for a few minutes. The heating of the appliance begins.
  5. When the coffee temperature indicator is illuminated, it indicates the heating has been completed. Press the Pump Control button and pump two cups of water (about 2 ounce). Then close the pump and wait for 5 seconds.
  6. Press the Coffee/Steam Selector. The coffee temperature indicator will extinguish, wait until the steam temperature indicator is illuminated.
  7. Make steam for 2 minutes by turning the Steam Control Knob and then turn the Steam Control Knob to “o” position to stop making steam.
  8. Press the Power button to stop the appliance immediately. Allow the descalers deposit in the appliance for at least 15 minutes.
  9. Restart the appliance and repeat the steps of 3-8 at least 3 times.
  10. Press the Coffee/Steam Selector, the coffee temperature indicator will be illuminated. Press the Pump Control button to brew until the descaler is completely removed.
  11. Press the Pump Control button to run the water mixture through the system. Repeat the steps 3-8 for 3 times. This time it is not necessary to wait for 15 minutes as instructed in step 8. Brew until no water is left in the tank.
  12. Repeat step 11 at least 3 times to make sure the piping is clean.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Possible Cause Solution
The coffee maker will not power on. The power outlet is not plugged in
securely. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet correctly. If the appliance

still does not work, contact Kogan.com
Metal parts in the tank have rusted.| The descaler is not of recommended type. It may corrode the metal parts in the tank.| Use the descaler recommended by Kogan.com. See the Cleaning and Care section of this user guide.
Water leaks from the bottom of the appliance.| There is more water in the drip tray.| Clean the drip tray.
The appliance is a malfunctioning.| Contact Kogan.com
Water leaks from the outer side of the filter.| There is some ground coffee beans on the filter edge.| Remove the ground coffee beans residue.
Acid (vinegar) taste exists in Espresso coffee.| Proper cleaning is not performed after cleaning mineral deposits.| Clean appliance before using it. See the Getting Started section.
The ground coffee beans are stored in a hot, wet place for a long time. The ground coffee beans might have turned bad.| Use fresh ground  coffee  beans or store the unused ground coffee beans in a cool, dry place. After opening ground coffee beans package, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
Plastic taste noted in coffee.| Appliance is used for first time. Test runs with hot water is strongly recommended before making coffee.| Upon first use, run the coffee machine with just hot water to clean and prepare the appliance. Do not drink the initial test runs water. Ensure appliance has been run by adding water for at least one minute before making coffee.
Burnt taste noted in coffee.| Water is flowing through the grinds too slowly, leading to a bitter and burnt taste.| Adjust your grinder for a coarser grind of the beans.
Appliance is not working.| Not plugged to wall outlet correctly.| Plug the power cord into a wall outlet correctly. If the appliance still does not work, contact Kogan.com
No steam from the nozzle on the steam wand.| The nozzle on the steam wand is blocked.| Use a toothpick or small, narrow brush to remove possible blockage. Ensure it is properly cleaned after each use.
Cannot froth.| The steam temperature indicator is not illuminated.| Only after the steam temperature indicator is illuminated, the steam can be used to froth.
 | The container is too big, or the shape is not correct.| Use a high and narrow cup.
 | You have used skimmed milk.| Use whole milk or half-skimmed milk.
| This marking indicates that this appliance should not be disposed with other house-hold wastes. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.
