DESCRIPTION
® The Model Verifact D USB is an omni-directional, low impedance, electret condenser microphone with a USB audio output. It can pick up normal sounds ® approximately 15 ft. away. The Verifact D microphone is mounted to the back of a single gang stainless face ® plate. Verifact D is designed for correctional facilities, ® or areas where vandalism is a concern. The Verifact D USB is compatible with a device that accepts USB audio input. ® The Verifact D fits into a standard single gang electrical box (not supplied).

MECHANICAL INSTALLATION
Verifact D microphones are designed to be installed in a single gang electrical box for flush or surface mounting to a wall or ceiling. It should be positioned 3 to 6 ft. from the area of desired coverage. Ceiling heights in excess of 10 ft. should be avoided.

Connection to the can be made using any standard USB mini – B male cable on one end, the other end is dependant on the type of device that the unit in most instances the plugged into a USB type A port. The Verifact D USB Verifact D USB is compatible with the USB 2.0 standard.
CONNECTING VERIFACT USB MICROPHONE TO DEVICES. ®
The model Verifact D USB is compatible with devices running Windows 7/8/10
and Linux operating systems. For a detailed list of compatible operating
systems please contact the factory. When the device is plugged into a
compatible host device the operating system will auto-install the necessary
software drivers and the device will appear as a USB audio device under the
device list. The device can then be selected as the primary “Recording Device”
for the system to enable operation.
INSTALLATION TIPS
- Use high quality shielded USB cables. The USB specification recommends cable length not to exceed 5m (15’), performance of the device when using cable lengths longer than 5m (15’) cannot be guaranteed.
- Microphone should be installed closest to the area to be monitored and documented.
- Avoid installing microphone near air vents, air conditioners, fans and other equipment that generate high sound and air pressure.
- If microphone is installed in a police interview room, room should be conditioned with any type of carpeting, acoustical ceiling tiles, acoustical foam, etc. to reduce echo. This will enhance the quality of live and recorded audio.
MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY SWITCH
The microphone pre-amp (PC board) contains a sensitivity switch with two
positions marked N and L, and is located on the back side of the Model USB
near the terminal block:
N represents normal sensitivity (0 dB @ 1,000 )
L represents lower sensitivity (-6 dB @ 1,000 )
Microphone is always shipped in the L position. For higher microphone sensitivity, move slide switch to N position.
