Safety and Warnings

WARNING
Please read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference.
TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY

  • Continuous adult supervision is required.
  • Never use near motor vehicles.
  • Never use near streets, swimming pools, hills, steps, or sloped driveways.
  • Always wear shoes when using the tricycle.
  • Allow only one rider.
  • Minimum age of rider shall be 6 months.
  • Maximum age of rider shall be 5 years.
  • Maximum weight of rider shall be 55 lbs. (25 kg)
  • The Armbar and Child Restraint Harness should always be used for children who are not yet capable of sitting in the seat without support or who are unable to pedal the product.
  • It is recommended for the rider to always wear a properly fitted helmet that complies with Federal helmet (16CFR1203) requirements.
  • Do not load the cup holder with more than 2 lbs. (0.9 kg). Excessive weight may cause a hazardous or unstable condition.
  • Do not load the storage bag with more than 2 lbs. (0.9 kg). Excessive weight may cause a hazardous or unstable condition.

Assembly

WARNING: Adult assembly required. Choking Hazard to children under the age of 3 years – contains small parts prior to assembly. Keep all small parts out of reach of children at all times.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Save the push handle cap and the Allen wrench for future use to convert the product for use by an older child.
Unfolding the Product

  • Hold the product by the handle at the rear of the seat and stand the product upright on the floor. (1)
  • Grasp the frame bar just above the right wheel and pull it slightly backward toward you. (2)
  • Do the same for the left wheel frame bar. (3)
  • Hold the push handle with one hand and with the other hand, push down on the bracket just below the push handle. Push down all the way until it locks into position. (4)
  • The locking lever just behind the push handle bracket should now be located in the UP position. Push down on this lever until it clicks securely into its locked position. (5)

Ensure that this lever is locked into place securely.

  • Lift up the front edge of the seatback/canopy/armbar assembly and raise it. (6)
  • Lift up the front edge of the canopy and raise the canopy up so that it is in line with the seatback. (7)
  • Lower the armbar forward into place. (8)
  • If not already in position, lower the early stage footrests down into place. (9)
  • Push the button at the top of the push handle and pull up slightly on the handle while at the same time holding the lower tube. Release the button and continue pulling up until the push handle clicks into place. (10) Note that there are two heights that you can adjust the push handle to.
  • Attach the cup holder to the top of the push handle. (11)

Installing the Storage Bag
To attach the storage bag to the product, you must first remove the push handle.

  • Stand behind the product and reach under the bottom of the push handle bracket to locate the metal push button. (12)
  • Push this button toward the front of the product while grasping and pulling the push handle upwards out of this bracket. (13)
  • Attach the loop at the bottom of the bag around the bottom of the push handle. (14)
  • Reattach the push handle by orienting it with the cup holder facing the rear of the product and inserting the push handle into its attachment hole. (15)
  • Ensure the push handle clicks into place. You may need to twist it slightly to accomplish this.
  • Pull up on the handle to ensure it is securely attached.
  • Spread out the bag with the Joovy logo facing down on the floor. Attach one of the Velcro straps to the frame bar just above the left wheel. (16)
  • Attach the other Velcro strap to the frame bar just above the right wheel.
  • Pull the open end of the bag up and attach the two loops at the top to the two posts on the push handle. (17)
  • Use the slider mechanism on the drawstring to close and open the bag.
    You can detach the storage bag by following these steps in reverse order.

WARNING: STRANGULATION HAZARD: DO NOT allow children to play with or handle the storage bag. Do not load the storage bag with more than 2 lbs. (0.9 kg). Excessive weight may cause a hazardous or unstable condition.

Operation

WARNING: The Armbar and Child Restraint Har ness should always be used for children who are not yet capable of sitting in the seat without support or who are unable to pedal the product.
Rear Wheel Brakes
To lock the rear wheel brakes, push down on the brake levers on BOTH wheels. (18) IMPORTANT: Gently push the tricycle back and forth to ensure the brake is fully engaged.
• To unlock the brakes, pull up on BOTH brake levers. (19)
Securing a Child in the Seat

  • FIRST, ensure that BOTH rear wheel brake levers are in the down position and the rear wheels are locked.
  • Open the armbar by pressing the button underneath the middle of the bar. Then spread the two halves of the bar apart toward the sides of the product. (20)
  • Press the button on the center buckle of the harness assembly to release the shoulder/waist straps from the crotch strap. (21)
  • Place your child on the seat and position their arms through both shoulder/waist straps.
  • Reinsert both shoulder/waist strap connectors into the center buckle. (22)
  • The shoulder and waist straps may be adjusted using the sliding plastic rings. Make sure the shoulder straps and waist straps fit snugly around the child.
  • Close the armbar by bringing the two halves back together, pressing the button in and sliding one of the bars over this button. (23) Check to be sure the armbar is securely closed and locked.

Adjusting the Shoulder Straps
The straps can be adjusted to two heights. ALWAYS adjust BOTH straps to the SAME height.

  • Push one of the shoulder straps through the slot in the seatback. (24)
  • Twist the plastic locking pin and push it through the fabric slot to remove it. (25)
  • Pull the strap back through the slot to remove it.
  • Put the pin aside to use it for reassembly.
  • Do the same for the other shoulder strap.
  • Put the pin aside to use it for reassembly.
  • Pull the top of the setback pad to detach it from the setback on both sides. Pull it out so that the lower slots for the shoulder straps are exposed. (26)
  • Insert each shoulder strap through the slots in the seatback pad and then through the corresponding slots in the seatback. (27)
  • Push the seatback pad onto the seatback so that ALL snaps are secured back into place. (28)
  • Replace the pins into the fabric slots on the ends of both shoulder straps and pull the straps toward the front of the product so that these pins are pulled into the slots in the back of the seatback. (29)

Seatback Recline

  • To recline the seatback, pull up on the release handle on the back of the seatback. (30)
  • Move the seatback toward the rear of the product and release the handle. (31) Ensure the seatback locks securely into the recline position.
  • To put the seatback into the upright position, pull up on the release handle and move the seatback up.
    BE CAREFUL! Do not move the seatback too far forward as the child may be injured.

Canopy
The canopy can be adjusted to be fully opened, fully closed or anywhere in between simply by pulling or pushing the front of the canopy into the desired position. (32)

Unlocking the Front Wheel Pedals

  • These pedals should be in their UNLOCKED position. Check by rotating the pedals and if the front wheel also rotates, the pedals must be switched to the UNLOCKED position.
  • Turn the switch on the side of the front wheel CLOCKWISE until a click is heard. (33)
  • Check to ensure that the front wheel does not rotate when pedals are rotated.

Handlebar

  • The handlebar should be in the UNLOCKED position. Check by turning the handlebar and if the front wheel turns, the handlebar must be switched to the UNLOCKED position.
  • Pull UP on the ring just at the top of the front wheel fork to unlock the handlebar. (34)

Reversing the Seat Direction

  • The seat can be reversed to have your child facing toward you.
  • Reach under both sides of the seat and locate the seat release buttons, one on each side.
  • Hold the seat and with one finger pull these buttons out toward the side. (35)
  • Lift the seat up and remove it from the product. (36)
  • Turn the seat around 180° to face toward the rear of the product and replace the seat onto its base attachment. Push down firmly until the seat securely snaps into place. (37)
  • Pull up on the seat to ensure it is securely attached.

Flip-Down Footrests

  • When your child is old enough, you can detach the early stage footrests and use the flip-down footrests.
  • Reach under the seat where the early stage footrests are attached and press the release button. (38)
  • Then just slide the early stage footrest out of the slot. (39)
  • SAVE THESE TWO EARLY STAGE FOOTRESTS FOR FUTURE USE.
  • Rotate the flip-down footrests down and outward. (40)

Removing the Canopy
To remove the canopy, pull the connecting tab on each side of the canopy horizontally out of its slot on the seatback. (41)
SAVE THE CANOPY FOR FUTURE USE.

Removing the Armbar
Once your child is a little older, they may not need the armbar.

  • Open the armbar by pressing the button underneath the middle of the bar. Then spread the two halves of the bar apart toward the sides of the product. (20)
  • Rotate each half of the armbar UPWARD 90° and then pull them outward from the product. (42 and 43)
  • Reconnect the two halves of the armbar.

SAVE THE ARMBAR FOR FUTURE USE.
Removing the Seatback/Harness Assembly

  • Reach under both sides of the seat and locate the seat release buttons, one on each side.
  • Hold the seat and with one finger pull these buttons out toward the side. (35)
  • Lift the seat up and remove it from the product. (36)
  • Push the crotch strap up through the slot in the plastic seat. (44)
  • Twist the plastic locking pin and push it through the fabric slot to remove it. (45)
  • Pull the crotch strap back through the slot to remove it and replace the pin into the fabric slot.
  • Move the seatback into the upright position to expose the seatback attachment bolts. (46)
  • Using the Allen wrench, unscrew the two bolts at the base of the seatback. (47)
  • Detach the entire seatback/harness assembly from the product.

KEEP THE BOLTS IN THE HOLES ON THE SEAT BACK SO THEY DO NOT GET LOST AND SAVE THIS ENTIRE ASSEMBLY FOR FUTURE USE.
You will need them to reinstall the seatback/harness assembly for future use.

  • Reinstall the seat onto its base attachment, ensuring it is facing toward the front of the product.
  • Push down firmly until the seat securely snaps into place. (48)
  • Pull up on the seat to ensure it is securely attached.

Removing the Push Handle

  • Stand behind the product and reach under the bottom of the push handle bracket to locate the metal push button. (12)
  • Push this button toward the front of the product while grasping and pulling the push handle upwards out of this bracket. (13)
  • Place the push handle cap into the hole where the push handle was removed. (49)
    SAVE THE PUSH HANDLE FOR FUTURE USE.

Locking the Handlebar

  • Orient the handlebar perpendicular to the front wheel.
  • Push DOWN on the ring just at the top of the front wheel fork to lock the handlebar. (50)
  • Check to ensure the handlebar turns the front wheel.

Locking the Front Wheel Pedals

  • Turn the switch on the side of the front wheel COUNTERCLOCKWISE until a click is heard. (51)
  • Check to ensure the pedals rotate the front wheel.

Folding the Product for Storage or Travel

  • Remove the child from the product.
  • Lock both rear wheel brakes.
  • Fold the armbar UP to rest against the seatback.
  • Close the canopy so that it is vertically in line with the seatback.
  • Adjust the push handle to its LOWEST position.
  • Rotate the flip-down footrests up and in.
  • Pull the locking lever UP and then toward you, then DOWN to release the lock. (52)
  • Grasp the carry handle at the bottom of the seatback and pull UP while at the same time pushing DOWN on the push handle. (53)
  • Pull UP on the release handle on the back of the seatback and push the seatback/canopy/armbar assembly all the way toward the front of the product.
  • Fold the canopy toward the rear of the product and down onto the seatback.
  • Push in on both the left and right rear wheel frame bars to lock them in place.
  • Lift and carry the product by the carry handle.

Reassembly for Future Use

When you are ready to use the product for a second child, follow the instructions below to reinstall the components that you previously saved.

Reinstalling the Early Stage Footrests

  • Orient the footrests on the appropriate side of the product and slide each one into its slot under the seat. (54)
  • Pull on them to ensure they are secure.

Reinstalling the Seatback/Canopy/Armbar Assembly

  • Reach under both sides of the seat and locate the seat release buttons, one on each side.
  • Hold the seat and with one finger pull these buttons out toward the side. (35)
  • Lift the seat up and remove it from the product. (36)
  • Using the Allen wrench, reattach seatback/canopy/armbar assembly by screwing the two bolts at the base of the seatback into their holes in the seat. (55) Ensure they are tight but do not overtighten.
  • To reinstall the crotch strap, twist the plastic locking pin and pull it through the fabric slot to remove it. (56)
  • Push the crotch strap down through the slot at the front of the seat. (57)
  • Replace the pin into the fabric slot and pull the crotch strap back up so that the locking pin fits into the slot. (58)
  • Reinstall the reassembled seat onto its base attachment, ensuring it is facing toward the front of the product. Push down firmly until the seat securely snaps into place. (59)
  • Pull up on the seat to ensure it is securely attached.

Reinstalling the Push Handle

  • Remove the cap that is covering the push handle hole behind the seatback. (60)
    SAVE THIS CAP FOR FUTURE USE.

  • Stand behind the product and orient the push handle with the cup holder toward the rear of the product and insert the push handle into its attachment hole. (61)

  • Ensure the push handle clicks into place. You may need to twist it slightly to accomplish this.

  • Pull up on the handle to ensure it is securely attached.
    After replacing all these components, refer to the Operation section of the manual.

Care & Maintenance

Maintenance
All of the fittings, snaps, locks, rivets, other hardware, fabric, and plastic parts on the product should be inspected periodically to ensure that they are properly secured and not damaged or malfunctioning. All moving parts should also be checked periodically to ensure that they are operating properly.

Any missing, broken, or damaged components should be replaced immediately, and the product should not be used until they are replaced. Only the manufacturer’s original components should be used. If needed, please contact Joovy (USA) or Elfe (Canada) at our toll-free phone number.
Color fading may occur if the product is left in direct sunlight for long periods of time. When not in use, store the product out of direct sunlight.

Cleaning
The plastic and fabric materials on this product can be cleaned using mild household soap and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth. Always allow the product to air dry completely before using it.
The frame and wheels should always be kept clean and free of dirt and foreign matter, especially after operating the product in rain, snow, or other harsh environments. Use a sponge or cloth dampened with warm water and a mild household soap.

Removing the Rear Wheels for Cleaning

  • Locate the metal button on the rear wheel bracket and pull it UP. (62)
  • Pull the rear wheel horizontally to remove it. (63)
  • To replace the rear wheel, simply push it back into the axle hole until it securely clicks into place.

Storage
Direct sunlight may fade fabric and dry out wheels. Store product indoors to prolong its original appearance. DO NOT store outdoors. Ensure that the product is dry before storing for prolonged periods. Always store the product in a dry, safe environment. DO NOT place heavy objects on top of the product. DO NOT store the product near a direct heat source such as a radiator or open fire.
