Bulb User Guide

SAFETY & WARNINGS

  • Risk of electric shock or burns; use in a dry location only.
  • Do not use with wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surfaces.
  • Not intended for use in completely enclosed light fixtures.
  • Do not use with dimmer systems.
  • Ensure the voltage of the LED bulb is compatible with the mains electricity of your country before connecting to a bulb holder.
  • Ensure that the base of the bulb matches that of the bulb holder before installation.

INSTALL THE APPLICATION

Step 1
Download the Kogan SmarterHome™ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and register for a new account.

  1. Launch the app. Click “Register”.
  2. Select your country code, enter your mobile phone number and the tap “Get” to receive a message containing a verification code.
  3. You will receive a verification code. Enter it in the “Verification Code” field, set your password and tap “Login”.

Step 2
Insert the smart bulb into the light fixture securely, then switch the fixture on.

Step 3

  1. Tap the “+” or “Add Device” button in the “Devices” window. The Add Device screen appears as shown in the image below. Select “Lighting Devices”.

2. Make sure that the bulb is flashing quickly, then tap “next step”. If the light is not flashing quickly, turn the bulb off and on 3 times until it flashes. Tap “next step”.

3. The “Add Successfully” message appears once the bulb has successfully connected.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Note: You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

  1. Select “Menu” and then “Home Control”.
  2. In the “Home Control” screen, select the “+” icon in the bottom right.
  3. A list will appear showing actions and a search function to access more apps from here, install the SmarterHome™ app.

4. Log into your SmarterHome™ account with your email address or mobile number.
5. Once linked, it will show the devices linked to your account, you can assign them to rooms. You will be prompted to authorise apps to sync.
6. Click “Done” and then it will give you a list of commands available.
7. When successfully linked, you will see it on your “Home Control” screen at the bottom of the app screen. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices through Google Home.

ALEXA

Note: You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

  1. Select “Menu” and then “Skills”.
  2. Search for the app and enable it.
  3. Log into your SmarterHome™ account with your email address or mobile number.
  4. Select “Discover Devices” and the app will begin searching.
  5. When successfully linked, you will see a list of connected Kogan SmarterHome™ devices. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices through Alexa with your voice.

OPERATION

AP Mode

If the SmarterHome™ device cannot connect due to an unstable network connection, you may receive a “Failed to Add” message. You can use “AP Mode” instead.

  1. When the “Failed to Add” screen appears, click Cancel on the upper left to go back and click AP Mode on the upper right

2. If your bulb is not slowly blinking, click the link “How to make light slowly blink” and follow the instructions within. Once the bulb is blinking slowly, press “Confirm light slowly blink”.

3. Select your Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) and enter the Wi-Fi Password for your device to connect later. Click “Confirm”.

4. Click “Connect Now” to go to system settings in Wi-Fi. Choose the Network named XXXXX-XXX then return to the app.
The app will apply these settings through the configuration process and once connected, the “Add Successfully” message appears.

Control Panel
After selecting a connected bulb from the ‘Devices’ screen, the Smart Switch Control Panel screen appears.

1. Control Panel: Light On/Off
Tap the light image in the middle to switch the light on or off. When the light is switched on, the Control Panel options are displayed. The Schedule option at the bottom allows you to add scheduled timers for turning the light on/off.

2. Control panel options:
When the Smart Bulb is switched on, the Control Panel options are displayed. The following options appear: Adjust, Colour, Scene and Schedule.

  • Adjust: Adjust white brightness and/or change colour temperature
  • Colour: Choose colour and/or edit the brightness and saturation
  • Scene: Select a scene and edit by clicking on “Edit” at the top right corner. In the Custom scene screen, change settings and tap “Submit” at the button to save the new scene settings or tap “Reset” at top right, then “Submit”, to reset the selected scene to default settings.
  • Schedule: Add scheduled timers for turning the Smart Socket on/off.

Profile
“Profile” allows you to manage your personal information.
Tap the “Profile” button from the “Devices” screen to open the Profile options. The options include:

  • Personal Information: Tap the “Profile” to edit nickname, profile picture and change account password. Tap “Logout” to logout of the app. Upon re-entering the Kogan SmarterHome™ app, you will need to login again.
  • Device Sharing: Displays information of shared devices.
  • Message Centre: Displays messages.
  • Feedback: Allows you to submit feedback.
  • FAQ: Displays common questions and answers about the device and app.
  • About: Displays the application version, checks for updates and allows you to rate the app.
  • Settings: Tap to set the sounds and vibration of your mobile device and to logout of the application.

Profile: Device Sharing

  1. Tap “Device Sharing” from the “Profile” screen to open the “Sharings Sent” tab.
  2. Tap “Add Sharing” (Picture 1).
  3. Enter phone number, nickname and relation then tap “Confirm” to confirm and save the information (Picture 2).
  4. The list of names added to sharing is displayed.
  5. Tap the added Sharing that you sent to edit the name. Tap “Done” to save your changes.
  6. To delete, touch a listed profile name and slide your finger to the left. The Delete option appears. Tap “Delete” to remove the shared user.
  7. Tap the “Sharings Received” tab to view the list of devices that your account has received.
