Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
This product is suitable for installation on surfaces with normal flamibility e.g wood, plasterboard and masonry.
Before making fixing hole(s), check that there are no obstructions hidden beneath the mounting surface such as pipes or cables.

Ensure that the fitting will be accessible after installation for maintenance.
If the location of your new fitting requires the provision of a new electrical supply, the supply must conform with the requirements of the Building Regulations making reference to the Wiring Regulations (see above).
You are advised at every stage of your installation to double-check any electrical connections you have made. After you have completed your installation there are electrical tests that should be carried out: these tests are specified in the Wiring Regulations (BS7671) referred to in the Building Regulations.

INSTALLATION
DANGER! Please note that there are two live supplies, one switched and one permanent; please ensure you isolate both before you undertake any work on the emergency fitting.
- Undo the screws at each end of the diffuser and lift off.
- Press the tabs protruding from the gear tray to open.
- Make the cable entry and fixing holes as required. Inside the back of the fitting, there are markings to assist you.
- Using the back of the fitting as a template, mark the position of the fixing holes on your mounting surface.
- Make fixing holes and fit plugs as appropriate.
- Secure the back of the fitting to the mounting surface using suitable fixings (not supplied).
- Apply a silicon sealant to the fixings if moisture or weather-proofing is required.
- Fitting a cable gland will also be necessary if moisture or weather-proofing is required.
- Thread the supply cable through the entry point and into the fitting.
- Make connection to the mains supply according to the colour code below. Take care not to leave any strands protruding from the terminals and that the terminals clamp onto the bare wire and not onto the insulation.
N – Neutral (Blue/Black)
L – Permanent Live (Brown/Red)
This product is double insulated. Do not connect any part to Earth.
MAINTAINED MODEL ONLY:
NOTE: To convert the maintained fitting to non-maintained operation, remove the link between terminals “PL” and “SL”.
NOTE: If the lamp is to be switched, remove the link from between the terminals “PL” and “SL” and connect cable from your switch into ‘SL’.
11. Mark the current date on the battery pack.
12. Connect the battery pack to the circuit board.
13. Close the gear tray and press back onto the clips.
14. Replace the diffuser and tighten securely.
15. Restore the power supply. The LED should light to indicate correct
charging.
MAINTAINED VERSION ONLY: if the link has been left in place, the fitting should also light. If you have connected a switch across the terminals, test the operation of your switch.
OPERATION CHECKS
Periodic testing should be carried out to ensure emergency lighting is operating correctly. Interruption of the supply, causing the fitting to be energised from the battery, should be carried out by the operation of a local keyswitch or other isolation device. During this period all fittings should be examined visually to ensure that they are functioning correctly. At the end of the test period the supply shall be restored and all indicator lamps or devices checked to ensure that the normal supply has been restored.
DAILY:
Visual inspection of the battery charge LED.
EACH MONTH:
Isolate the power supply for a period sufficient to ensure that each lamp
is illuminated. Endorse the test record form supplied.
ONCE EACH YEAR:
Isolate the power supply and check that the light is still illuminated
after 3 hours. Endorse the test record form.
Because of the possibility of a failure of the normal lighting supply occurring shortly after a period of testing of the emergency lighting system or during the subsequent recharge period, all full duration tests shall wherever possible be undertaken preceding time of low risk to allow for battery recharge.
NOTE: please keep this instruction booklet and the test record in a safe place. A fire officer or other authorised person may want to see your record of inspection and testing.
