HOW TO USE

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

The first time the iron is switched on it may make a noise and smell and/or smoke a little. This is completely normal and soon stops. Before using for the first time, use the iron on a spare piece of cloth.

PREPARATIONS

Sort the ironing according to the symbols on the washing labels or the cloth quality.Menuett 014466 Cordless Steam Iron fig21 Start with garments that should be ironed with a low temperature.
This avoids delays, since the iron gets hot faster than it cools, and it also eliminates the risk of burning the cloth.

Tips

  • Use a low temperature for garments with spangles, embroidery, and applications etc.
  • For mixed materials, e.g. 40% cotton and 60% synthetic, use the temperature setting for the material that can withstand the lowest temperature.
  • If you are unsure of the temperature the material can withstand, try ironing a concealed part of the garment. Start with a low temperature and gradually increase to a suitable temperature.
  • Never iron over stains. The heat will cause stains to burn into the material.
  • Use a medium temperature when ironing without steam. A high temperature can leave yellow marks.
  • Iron silk, woollen and synthetic garments from the reverse side to avoid leaving marks.
  • Iron velvet in the direction of the fibres and do not press on the iron to avoid making the material shiny.
  • Garments become more wrinkled if the washing machine is full and when spin drying at high speed.
  • Many fabrics are easier to iron when they are not completely dry.
  • Silk, for example, should always be ironed when damp.
STEAM IRONING

Filling the water reservoir

  1. Pull out the plug.
  2. Turn the steam control (4) too.
  3. Open the filler cap (3).
  4. Lift the tip of the iron so that water can run down into the reservoir.
  5. Slowly pour water from the refill jug into the reservoir. Do not fill over the max mark on the reservoir (approx. 320 ml).
  6. Close the filler cap (3).

Adjusting the steam

  1. Steam can only be used with a high temperature setting. • • and • • • correspond to a normal amount of steam, MAX to maximum steam.
  2. Check that there is enough water in the reservoir and stand the iron upright.
  3. Set the required temperature for steam ironing ( • • or • • •).
  4. Put the iron on its base and plug in the plug.
    • To put the iron on the base, open the clip with the release button (12) and check that the clip (10) engages. Warming-up can take place in a horizontal or vertical position.
    • If the iron is used separately, put the iron vertically on the base and wait until it reaches the required temperature.
  5. The iron is ready to use when the heat status light (8) goes off.
    • The iron can be used continuously if it is connected to the base.
    • If the iron is used separately it can be used for about 30 seconds after the heat status light (8) has gone off (the exact time varies depending on use). The iron must then be put on the base again to warm up. The iron can be used again when the heat status light (8) goes off.
  6. Set the steam control to the required position (see figure 2).

Steam spraying when ironing vertically

  1. Press the steam spray button (6) to produce a powerful burst of steam that will penetrate the fabric and smooth the toughest creases.
  2. Wait at least three seconds before pressing again.

NOTE:
Use the steamer for vertical ironing of curtains, or clothes on hangers etc. WARNING!
Steam spraying only works at a high temperature. Stop using steam spraying when the temperature status light (8) comes on and do not continue until the light has gone off.

Ironing without steam

Ironing without steam is done in the same way as steam ironing, but with the steam control (4) set to 0.

Spray function

Check that there is water in the reservoir. Press in the spray button (5) slowly for a dense spray, or quickly for a fine mist.

WARNING!
Delicate fabrics should be dampened using the spray function before ironing, or protected by placing a damp cloth between the fabric and the iron. Do not spray on silk or synthetic fabrics as this can cause stains.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING

  • Pull out the plug before cleaning.
  • Remove contaminants, starch residue etc. on the soleplate with a cloth moistened with water or mild detergent.
  • Clean the plastic parts with a damp cloth and wipe dry.

NOTE:

  • Do not use abrasive detergent.
  • Do not use steel wool, this could scratch the surface.

The cleaning function removes any impurities inside the soleplate. Use it at intervals of10 to 15 days as instructed below.

  1. Fill the water reservoir to the max mark and set the steam control (4) to 0.
  2. Set the temperature control (7) to max temperature and wait for the status light (8) to go off.
  3. Lift the iron off the base and hold it horizontally.
  4. Press the cleaning button (14) until all the boiling water, steam and impurities have come out.
  5. Allow the soleplate to cool and clean it with a damp cloth.
