SDI Riva Star Immediately Relieves Tooth Sensitivity
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Desensitising cervical tooth hypersensitivity.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Do not use on patients undergoing thyroid gland therapy, who have a history of
chemical allergies such as silver, fluoride, potassium, iodine and ammonia.
Note: If in doubt, consult a doctor or an allergy specialist before use.
PROCEDURE

Using a non-fluoride prophylaxis paste in a rubber cup, clean the tooth/teeth to be treated and abutting teeth.

Assess condition of teeth. Only teeth with sound dentine and enamel should be treated.

Isolate area to be treated using cotton rolls.

Protect any exposed gingival tissues and lips with petroleum jelly/ cocoa butter taking care not to contaminate treatment site.

Before opening cap, tap the bottom of the bottle on a hard surface to minimize the liquid coming out of the dropper tip.

Riva Star Step 1: Dispense one (1) drop of solution ( grey label) onto non-absorbent mixing pad.

Carefully apply solution to treatment site only, a medium sized micro brush, such as Points (SDI Limited) is recommended.

Riva Star Step 2: Immediately after, dispense two (2) drops of solution ( green label) onto fresh non-absorbent mixing pad.

Apply a generous amount of the solution to treatment site, a medium sized micro brush, such as Points (SDI Limited) is recommended. Apply same solution to any other tooth surfaces that may have come into contact with the solution from the grey bottle.
Note: Treatment surface initially appears creamy white, keep applying Riva Star Step 2 solution ( green label) until it turns clear. -
Blot dry.

Remove all protective/isolation materials used in the mouth.

Discard used mix pads and brushes in accordance with local regulations.
DOSAGE
- One (1) drop of Riva Star Step 1 and two (2) drops of Riva Star Step 2 can treat up to 5 teeth per patient.
- Limit of one (1) drop of Riva Star Step 1 and two (2) drops of Riva Star Step 2 drops per visit. If needed a second application of Riva Star may be administered after 1 week.
PRECAUTIONS

For professional use only.

Do not repeat treatment on pregnant or lactating women.

Patient must be informed of potential staining prior to treatment.

Avoid contact of solution from Riva Star Step 1 ( grey label) with oral soft tissue, eyes, skin and clothing. If accidental contact occurs, refer to “FIRST AID” below.
-
Avoid contact of solution from Riva Star Step 2 bottle (green label) with eyes.
-
Do not desensitise teeth with soft dentine as staining may occur.
Note: If it does occur, stained sites can be reduced by using a judicious polishing procedure with phosphoric acid impregnated pumice powder and then covered with a self-cure glass ionomer cement (such as Riva Self-Cure, SDI Limited). -
Keep out of reach of children.

Do not ingest.

Riva Star Step 1 solution ( grey label) will stain (see “HANDLING STAINS”).

Wear gloves and eye protection when handling.
-
Do not use after expiry date.
-
Caution: Federal Law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a dentist.

Solution from Riva Star Step 1 (grey label) contains 0.06g / mL fluoride ions.

STORAGE AND HANDLING
- Do not dispense solution from grey label bottle or green label bottle until ready to use.
- Store in a cool and dark place at temperatures between 2C° and 25°C (35° – 77°F).
- Use at room temperature between 20° and 25°C (68° – 77°F).
- Replace cap on bottle and seal tightly immediately after use.
FIRST AID
- Eyes (contact):
Hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. Continue flushing until advised to stop by a Poisons Information Centre (Australia, 131
- or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes. Seek for medical attention.

Skin/oral soft tissue (contact):
Remove contaminated clothing, flush area with running water (in case an eschar is formed, this should disappear within 24-48 hours). -
Ingestion:
If affected, do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of milk or water. For advice contact a Poisons Information Center or a doctor. -
Inhalation:
If affected, remove from contaminated area.
HANDLING STAINS

Skin:
In case of skin contact with Riva Star Step 1 (grey label), apply Riva Star Step 2 (green label) with gentle rubbing. Stain will slowly disappear. Otherwise, If Step 2 is not applied, the stain should disappear gradually after a few days. -
Clothing:
Remove contaminated clothing and soak in Napisan* (or other fabric stain remover) overnight and wash per normal. -
Hard surfaces:
Immediately apply household bleach (sodium hypochlorite) then wipe off with water. For stubborn stains, saturate a paper napkin with household bleach and place over affected area. Leave overnight and mop up with water.
