INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE (CAPSULES)
Riva Star is a new generation desensitizer that immediately relieves tooth
sensitivity.
INDICATIONS FOR USE:
Desensitising cervical tooth hypersensitivity.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Do not use on patients undergoing thyroid gland therapy, who have a history of
chemical allergies such as silver, fluoride, potassium, iodine, ammonia and
methacrylates. Note: If in doubt, consult a doctor or an allergy specialist
before use.
PROCEDURE:
-
Using a non-fluoride prophylaxis paste in a rubber cup, clean the tooth/teeth to be treated and abutting teeth.
-
Assess condition of teeth. Only teeth with sound dentine and enamel should be treated.
-
Isolate area to be treated with cotton rolls.
-
Dry teeth to be treated and adjoining gingival tissues.
-
Apply a small amount of Gingival Barrier to the tissues, slightly overlapping the tooth (<1mm) and interproximal spaces. Light cure in a fanning motion. Note: Do not spot cure Gingival Barrier as this may cause burning of the soft tissues. Alternatively, a rubber dam can be used for isolation.
-
Protect any exposed gingival tissues and lips with petroleum jelly/cocoa butter taking care not to contaminate the treatment site.
-
Riva Star Step 1: Using the silver brush provided, pierce through the foil of the silver capsule and carefully apply the solution to the treatment site only.
-
Riva Star Step 2: Immediately after, use the green brush provided, pierce through the foil of the green capsule and apply a generous amount of the solution to the treatment site until the creamy white precipitate turns clear (if this precipitate does not turn clear staining may result).
Note: Apply same solution from the green capsule to any other tooth surfaces that may have come into contact with the solution from the Riva Star Step 1 capsule (silver capsule). -
Blot dry.
-
Remove all protective/isolation materials used in the mouth.
-
Discard used capsules and brushes in accordance with local regulations.
DOSAGE:
- Each Step 1 & Step 2 capsule can treat up to 5 teeth per patient.
- Limit of one (1) Step 1 and one (1) Step 2 capsule per visit. If needed a second application of Riva Star may be administered after 1 week.
PRECAUTIONS:
- For professional use only.
- Do not repeat treatment on pregnant or lactating women.
- The patient must be informed of potential staining prior to treatment.
- Apply Gingival Barrier (SDI Limited) before applying Riva Star Step 1 solution (silver capsule) to avoid soft tissue burn.
- Avoid contact of solution from the silver capsule (Step 1) with oral tissue, eyes and skin. If accidental contact occurs, refer to First Aid below.
- Avoid contact of solution from the green capsule (Step 2) with eyes.
- Do not desensitize teeth with soft dentine as staining may occur. Note: If it does occur, stained sites can be reduced by using a judicious polishing procedure with phosphoric acid impregnated pumice powder and then covered with a self-cure glass ionomer cement (such as Riva Self-Cure, SDI Limited).
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not ingest.
- The solution from the silver capsule (Step 1) will stain (see “HANDLING STAINS”).
- Wear gloves and eye protection when handling.
