Congratulations on purchasing your lisa sound monitor You have chosen a highly modern and reliable system. Please read this manual thoroughly. It will tell you how to set up the system correctly and ex-plain all the features this device has to offer.

Package contents

Please check if the following parts are included in the package:

  • soundmonitor«
  • 3 x NiMH rechargeable battery, type AA, 1,2V (already inserted in the compartment)
  • 7,5 V power supply unit
  • Wall mount
  • User manual
  • Warranty card

If any parts are missing, please immediately contact your dealer or the manufacturer directly.

Safety instructions

  • – Prior to putting the device into operation and using it, kindly read this manual thoroughly and in full.
    – Store this user manual in a safe place so that it is also accessible to other users at any time.
    – When using power tools always follow the instructions of the manufacturer and wear suitable protective equipment (e.g. protective goggles).

  • – Kindly check before starting to drill if there are any hidden elec- tric cables or water pipes in
the walls. In case of doubt we recommend using a cable detector.

Function principle

The »sound monitor« has been designed to learn sounds and to recognise them if they occur again. Up to three different sounds can be memorized. This makes it possible to bind special acoustic signals into the »lisa RF« alerting system. The »sound monitor« scans the environmental noise around it for those sounds it has been taught to react to. If a memorized sound has been recognized, the »sound monitor« will send out a radio signal to all »lisa«-receivers within range. The receivers indicate the radio signal with light-, vibration- or an acoustic alert (this depends upon the type of receiver). Please note that sound recognition only works with exactly repeatable sounds.

Inserting/replacing the rechargeable batteries (included and already inserted)

Remove the battery compartment lid: Push the front plastic cover upwards. A certain resistance, caused by the lat-ching, has to be overcome. (Figure 3)

The plastic cover can now be taken off, the battery compartment has become accessible. Observe the correct polarity when inserting/replacing the batteries (Figure 4).

Attach the plastic cover: Lay the co-ver onto the housing with approx 1 cm distance to the lower edge (Figure 5).

Push the cover downwards until it clicks back into place. The front cover is now attached again.

Indicators and controls

3 indicator LEDs are located under the dark transparent front cover:

Microphone status indicator

This LED lights up whenever a ran-dom sound triggers the activation of the microphone.

Battery status indicator

The red battery status LED indicates that the rechargeable batteries are almost depleted and must be recharged. Du-ring recharging, this LED will show an orange light. A permanent green light shows that the batteries are charged and the »sound monitor« is active.

Transmission indicator

This LED indicates any outgoing transmission with a red light.

Signal buttons

Function and transmission range can be tested with the three signal buttons Telephone«, »Door 1« and »Door 2«). The signal buttons also serve to start the sound-teaching procedure.

Setup

Choosing the best position

The »sound monitor« scans and analyzes the noises in its vicinity for the patterns of the sounds it has been taught. In order to assist this function, the sound monitor« should be placed as close as possible to the sound source it is supposed to identify (for example placed on a wall underneath the door bell). In order to ensure the largest possible transmission range, please note the following recommendations:

  • – The transmitter should not be placed close to interference-emitting devices such as TV sets, computer screens and mobile phones.
    – The transmitter should not be placed on metal objects or surfaces due to the radio-shielding effect of the metal.

Teaching the desired sounds

Switch the »sound monitor« on by shifting the On/Off switch to the »ON« position. To teach a new sound, press and hold one of the signal buttons, located on the upper face of the device, for 2 to 3 seconds until the adjacent LED of the button starts to blink. Trigger the desired sound on the sound source. The sound should have a length at least 1,5 seconds. During the recording, the microphone status indicator must be lit constantly! The LED of the signal button will light up and go out after the sound has been recorded. The new sound has been taught. The other two signal buttons can also be programmed as described above. Please note that the identified sounds will be displayed on the receivers according to the symbol of the signal buttons (»Telephone«, »Door 1« and Door 2«).

Important notice:

When teaching a sound, please avoid any other environmental noise. The sound monitor should remain in the position in which the according sound was recorded, in order to as-sist a secure recognition of the sound when it occurs again.

Please note:

This device can only recognize repeatable and unaltering electronic sounds. A mechanical sound source or voice cannot be identified.

Power supply

Connect the power supply with the ac-cording socket on the underside of the sound monitor«. Plug the power supply unit into a regu-lar 230V mains electricity outlet.

Blackout-Backup

Please note that this device has been designed to be primarily powered over the power supply unit. The rechargeable batteries serve only as an emergency backup during po-wer cuts. The standby provided by the batteries covers approx. 16 hours. The batteries are charged when the sound monitor« is connected to the mains power supply and the ON/OFF switch is in »ON« position. The batteries have a charging time of approx. 12 hours.

Setting the correct radio channel

A special digital transmission process ensures that the radio signals are pi- cked up without errors. This process also makes it possible to set 10 diffe- rent radio channels. The »soundmonitor« is set to channel 0 by default. It is only necessary to set units to other channels if you have several different users operating »lisa RF« systems in the same building. Set the required channel by using a small screwdriver to turn the channel selector switch, which is located on the underside of the device, to the re-quired channel number. All transmitters and receivers must be set to the same channel.

Mounting the sound monitor

The »sound monitor« can be mounted using the supplied wall mount. To use it, fix the wall mount onto a wall (or rafter, cupboard etc.) When mounting onto a brick- or stone wall, you may need a power drill and stone bit to do so. Use the supplied wall plugs in this case. Once fixed, hang the »sound monitor« onto the wall mount bracket.

Maintenance and care

The »sound monitor« does not require any maintenance. If the unit does become dirty, simply wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth. Never use spirits, thinners or other organic solvents. Do not set up the unit where it will be exposed to full sunlight for long periods. In addition, it must be protected against excessive heat, moisture and severe mechanical shock. Note: This product is not protected against splash water. Do not place any containers filled with water, such as flower vases, or anything with an open flame, such as a lit candle, on or near the product.
