General information
- This manual contains important information concerning the proper ins-tallation and use of your smoke detector. Please read these instructions in their entirety before mounting and activating the smoke detector and keep them for future reference.
- In case of fire, lethal smoke spreads quickly and often unnoticed trough the entire apartment. The lisa RF smoke detectors warn of lethal fire gases at an early stage. A triggered alarm is displayed on all paired lisa receivers within the RF signal range.
- The electronics of the smoke detectors are constructed in such a power saving way that a typical operational time for the smoke detector of 10 years can be reached with one battery.
- Humantechnik does not accept any liability for expenditures of time, material and money which may result from alarming a manned stati-on, e.g. security firm or fire brigade.
Safety notes
Smoke detectors are intended to warn persons of fire smoke and fires in good time, so as to give them sufficient opportunity to accordingly react to the risk event. Smoke detectors can neither prevent nor extinguish fires.
- This smoke detector reacts early and reliably to smouldering fires and to open fire with smoke development. If the detector detects smoke, it produces a loud audible alarm, simultaneously emitts a visual alarm signal in the form of a red flashing indicator light and transmitts an alarm signal to lisa receivers within range via the inbuilt lisa module. Please make certain that a sufficient number of smoke detectors are installed. Only in this way can comprehensive monitoring be effected and maximum safety be achieved (see page 33).
- The smoke detectors must not be painted over and the smoke inlet apertures must not be taped over.
- The correct installation of the smoke detector and the compliance with the maintenance and care instructions are requirements for the trou-ble-free operation of the smoke detector. Humantechnik recommends planning, installation, start-up and maintenance according to standard DIN EN 14676.
Notes upon renovation work
- Only mount the smoke detector after completion of all works (reconst-ruction, renovation etc.).
- If smoke detectors were installed before the work is begun with, these have to be either removed or covered up.
- While the work is being carried out, the removed smoke detectors have to be protected from dust or the like (e.g. store in a plastic bag).
Important:
Following the completion of all work required, the smoke detec-tors have to be
mounted again or the covers have to be removed. A smoke detector which is not
mounted or which is still covered cannot fulfil its designated function and is
therefore ineffective. The use of the smoke detectors in environments with
high amounts of dust and dirt can lead to a reduction in the service life
expectancy of the detectors due to more rapid contamination of the product.
Behaviour in case of fire

Rescue people
Warn your co-residents Leave the room/the building immediately and shut all doors on your way outside in order to avoid a rapid spreading of the smoke and fire.Stay close to the floor in case of dense smoke.Check whether all persons have left the room/the buil-ding.If you are unable to leave the room/the building for any reason, shut all doors, seal all gaps and vents and call attention to youself from a window. -
Call the fire brigade
Do not call the fire brigade until you are safe. -
Extinguish the fire
Only fight the fire yourself if you do not endanger your-self in the process.
Properties of the lisa smoke detector

Automatic readiness for operation
After having been inserted into the base, the smoke detector auto-matically starts operation. -
Mute function
The audible alarm of the smoke detector can be muted for 10 minu-tes by pressing the test button for 1 second. -
Self-testing
The smoke detector monitors its own functionality. Interferences or a depleted battery are indicated by tones and the control LED. -
10 years battery life
The smoke detector has two fixed batteries: One for the detector itself and one for powering the module. Should any one of these batteries be depleted the detector MUST be replaced. The maxi-mum life of the detector‘s internal batteries is 10 years. After this time, the detector should be replaced.
Mounting place and project planning samples Mount at least one smoke detector in every bedroom and children’s room. In some federal states, the equipping with smoke detectors is al-ready required by law for these rooms.
To achieve optimal equipping mount at least one smoke detector in all rooms,
corridors and escape routes.
Mount the smoke detectors in such a way that fire smoke can reach the detector
unobstructed and as a result early detection can ensue.
The following rooms should not be equipped with smoke detectors:
- Kitchen and bathroom: Steam can cause a false alarm
- Garage: Exhaust fumes can cause a false alarm Smoke detectors must not be used outdoors.
Positioning of smoke detectors
The smoke detector will surveil an area of up to 60 m² at a maximum room
height of 6 m. Rooms with an area of more than 60 m² require multiple smoke
detectors. According to standard DIN 14676, smoke detectors should be mounted
on the ceiling, preferably in the middle of the room, with a distance of at
least 0,5 m to all furnishings and obstacles (lamps, walls, AC units etc.). If
the detector is mounted in an attic, at a roof angle of
- up to 20°, handle as with a horizontal roof
- of more than 20°, mount with a minimum distance of 0,5 m but not more than 1 m from the apex of the roof.
Arrangement of smoke detectors in corridors and hallways
In corridors and hallways with a minimum width of < 1 m, the smoke detector
should be mounted in the middle of the ceiling.
In corridors and hallways with a maximum width of 3 m, the distance between
two smoke detectors must not exceed 15 m. The distance to the front sides of
the corridor must not exceed 7.5 m.
Arrangement of smoke detectors in special spatial geo-metries
- Stairwells require at least one smoke detector mounted in the upmost level. It is recommended to mount a smoke detector on every level.
- Landings and galleries with a width of more than 2 m and an area larger than 16m² require also the mounting of a smoke detector.
- If the ceiling is divided by wooden rafters or ceiling compartments, please observe the following:
- Rafters or compartments with a depth of less than 20 cm can be neglected. The smoke detector can be mounted in the middle of the room either within a compartment or on a rafter.
- If the rafters or ceiling compartments are deeper than 20 cm, the total area of the ceiling compartments defines the mounting
- location. If the total area of ceiling compartments exceeds 36 m², a smoke detector is required in the middle of every compartment.
If the total area of ceiling compartments is equal or smaller than 36 m², the smoke detector can be mounted in the middle of the room either within a compartment or on a rafter.
Installation of the smoke detector
In order to avoid injuries or damage, the device must be reliably fixed to the ceiling in accordance with this instruction.
Installation with screws and wall plugs:
Use the supplied fixing material for installation of the smoke detector. If
other screws are used, these must not project into the base more than 5 mm.
The mounting surface must be even! The small self-adhesive area serves only to
find the position for the base and is not intended to hold the smoke detector!
- Hold the base to the desired location. Mark the positions of both holes.
- Drill the holes with an according drill.
- Push a plug into each hole.
- Screw the base lightly to the surface, hold the base in place and tighten the screws – but not too much.
- Insert the detector into the base, with the markings in alignment.
- Turn the detector clockwise until the detector clicks into its final position. The detector automatically switches on.When using power tools always follow the instructions of the manufacturer and wear suitable protective equipment (e.g. protective goggles). Kindly check before starting to drill if the-re are any hidden electric cables and water pipes in the walls. In case of doubt we recommend using a a cable detector.
Fastening by means of a Humantechnik adhesive pad:
Only the original adhesive pad should be used for installation by me-ans of an adhesive pad. This has to be ordered separately. The small given self- adhesive area is not intended for fastening the smoke detector!
Surfaces on which the adhesive pad is to be mounted have to be smooth, even, undamaged, clean and free of dust, grease and solvents. The adhesive pad must not be used on porous surfaces, e.g. plaster, emul-sion paint, plywood, chipboards and hardboards, chalky or loose paint layers, crumbling plaster or dirty surfaces.
Adhesive pads may leave residues after disassembly!
The use of the adhesive pad is always at the user’s own risk. When using the adhesive pad, please pay attention to its mounting instructions.
Theft and removal protection
In order to protect the smoke detector from removal by unauthorised third parties, a removal protection in shape of a snap lock can be activated:
- Break off the break-out point in the housing of the smoke detector and turn the smoke detector clockwise into the base until until the snap lock engages.
- To unlock the detector, push back the snap lock with a pointed object (screwdriver, knitting needle etc) and turn the detector anti-clockwise to release it.
Functions of the test button
The smoke detector switches on automatically after placing it in its base. The control LED in the test button will flash red once per minute in normal mode. With the test button, the following functions can be carried out:

By briefly pressing the button you can cancel an active alarm.

Hush or Silence Feature:
The smoke detector has a Hush or Silence feature. If cooking or other non- hazardous events cause an unwanted alarm, it can be tempo-rarily silenced by pressing the test button for 1 second. The alarm will enter a dormant period for 10 minutes. The red LED will flash every 8 seconds to indicate the reduced sensitivity. At the end of the hush period, the alarm will reset to normal sensitivity.
NOTE – If the smoke density increases during this period (i.e. from a fire) the unit will return into alarm mode. -
You can test the smoke detector‘s function by pressing the test button for 3 seconds. The alarm siren will sound, the control LED will flash rapidly and a fire alarm signal is transmitted to all lisa receivers within RF signal range
Maintenance and care
In order to ensure the operational reliability of the detector, according to
DIN EN 14676 servicing has to be carried out at least once a year.
Proceed as follows:
- Remove dust from the detector with a soft cloth if necessary
- Remove dirt with a damp cloth if necessary. Do not use cleaning agents.
- Visual check:
- Are the smoke apertures clear?
- Is the smoke detector damaged?
- Is there free open space of > 0,5 m around the detector?
- Has the purpose/usetype of the room been changed?
- Carry out a test by pressing the test button for 3 seconds.
Causes and avoidance of false alarms
The smoke detector can be triggered by steam, fine dust, condensa-tion and tobacco smoke. Small insects getting into the smoke alarm chamber may also cause intermittent alarms. Mount the smoke detector in areas unlikely to be affected by such sources of false alarm. Refer to chapter 6 »Mounting place and project planning samples«.
In the event of a presumed false alarm:
- Press the test button to cancel the active alarm.
- For your own safety, you should immediately and regardless do the following:
- Check your living space for small fires.
- Check your living space for sources of smoke.
Should false alarms of a smoke detector occur frequently, consider relocating the according smoke detector to a different position.
Function warnings
The signolux smoke detector monitors its own function. Disturbances in function are indicated in the following ways:

Function warning:
Every 48 seconds the control LED flashes twice in red and 2 beep tones are given: This indicates an internal error (e.g. caused by deposits of dust on the sensor) and the detector not being able to function in a reliable way. -
Battery warning:
Every 48 seconds the control LED flashes once in red and 1 beep tone is given: This indicates that the inbuilt battery is approaching its end of life.
For your safety, the smoke detector should be replaced in both cases.
Additional notes for the lisa-RF module

Operating principle
In cases of fire, the »RF smoke detector« A-2438-0 transmitts an alarm signal (868,35 MHz) to RF-lisa receivers within range. -
RF channel selection
A special digital transmission process ensures that the radio signals are picked up without errors. This process also makes it possible to set 10 different radio channels. All »RF smoke alarm transmitter« are set to channel 0 by default.
It is only necessary to set units to other channels if you have several different users operating units in the same building.
To select the RF channel open the socket of the »RF smoke alarm trans-mitter« and change the channel selector switch on the additional board to the required channel number. -
Test function
You can check the function of the RF transmitter module with the test button on the additional board.
During this test the »RF smoke detector« transmitts a general alarm signal to the receivers.
Battery depletion indicator
If the »battery depletion indicator« lights up constantly, this means that the built-in battery is almost fully discharged.
The »RF smoke detector« must then be replaced. The »battery depleti-on indicator« might flash briefly in the transmission mode; this does not indicate that the battery is low.
Information on disposal
Batteries must not be disposed of with the domestic waste. After use, batteries can be returned free of charge to the seller or to collection points intended for this purpose (e.g. municipal collection points or in trade).
The smoke detector is produced in compliance with the strict criteria of the quality and environment management system according to DIN ISO 9001. It complies with the statutory RoHS requirements and is free of any illegal substances. The battery is an integral part of the detector and cannot be changed.

Battery life
- The typical operating life of 10 years is reached under the following con-ditions:
- The smoke detector has to be commissioned at the latest one year after production. Twelve function tests may be made per year and a full alarm of 90 seconds can be carried out.
- One start-up and two range tests can be carried out during the entire service life and one line test can be carried out per year.
- The battery is inbuilt and cannot be removed without damaging the smoke detector. A forceful entry to the device voids all war-ranty claims.
Please make sure that the batteries are not exposed to excessive heat from such as sunlight, fire or anything similar. If exposed to excessive heat, batteries may explode.
