FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW
- Intelligent charger for 1-4 AA / AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries
- Auto-diagnosis of the rechargeable batteries inserted, automatic start of repair mode if required to regenerate deep-discharged rechargeable batteries and gentle pre-charging with reduced current
- Automatic charge start after rechargeable battery is inserted
- Microcontroller-monitored charge control
- Multiple over-charging protection through voltage monitoring (-dU) and safety timer
- Fully-charged detection and automatic changeover to pulse maintenance charging
- Individual slot monitoring (separate charging for each rechargeable battery)
- Reverse polarity protection
- Defective battery detection
- Indication of the rechargeable battery status via a multicolour LED for each charge slot
- Worldwide use (100V-240V AC / 50-60Hz)
USE
Fit the mains plug (different mains plugs may be included, e.g. Euro, UK, US or AU, depending on the design and the specific country variant) onto the two mains contacts and slide it on until it reaches the stop in the guide (see illustration). Ensure that the plug latches into place audibly when sliding on. The charger is now ready for use.
To release/change the mains plug, press the locking tab carefully (e.g. with a
ballpoint pen) downwards a little and slide the plug back.
Plug the charger into a suitable mains outlet. The charger‘s readiness for
operation is indicated by all 4 LEDs flashing orange three times. You can
insert up to 4 NiMH or NiCd rechargeable batteries in AA or AAA sizes (or even
a mixture of the two). Ensure that the rechargeable batteries are inserted
with the correct polarity, matching with the symbols in the charge slots. The
charge process starts automatically. The charge status of each rechargeable
battery is indicated by means of the indicator lights (see CHARGE STATUS
INDICATION) above the charge slot. The rechargeable batteries do not need to
be inserted at the same time as the charge process for each rechargeable
battery is controlled independently. Warming of the rechargeable batteries
during the charge process is normal. After successfully charging a
rechargeable battery, the charge process switches automatically to pulse
maintenance charging. This function guarantees optimum performance and
prevents the self-discharge of the rechargeable battery.
CHARGE STATUS INDICATION
-
LED flashes red and green alternately: Repair mode
The charger has detected a deep-discharged rechargeable battery. The charger will attempt to regenerate this rechargeable battery by means of charge pulses. If this does not work, the rechargeable battery will be identified as faulty. If the rechargeable battery can be regenerated, the precharging mode is then initiated. -
LED flashes green: Pre-charging mode
The rechargeable battery is prepared for rapid charging by allowing a gentle, reduced current. -
LED illuminates green briefly after inserting a rechargeable battery and then changes to red:
If the charge status of the rechargeable battery is more than 70%, pre- charging is not required. The rechargeable battery is fully charged in rapid charge mode. -
LED illuminates steadily red: Rapid charge process The rechargeable battery is charged with max. current.
-
LED illuminates steadily green: Charge process complete
The rechargeable battery is fully charged and is supplied with maintenance charge current. -
LED flashes red: Rechargeable battery faulty
The charge process is cancelled. The rechargeable battery has an internal short-circuit or a non-rechargeable battery (alkaline) has been accidentally inserted.
