  • Individually selectable charge program for each charge bay:
    • CHARGE DISCHARGE (Discharge – Charge: To minimise the “memory effect” of rechargeable batteries)
    • REFRESH (Repeated discharging – charging: To revitalise old rechargeable batteries) TEST (Charge – discharge to determine capacity – charge)
  • Capacity measurement in mAh/Ah
  • Simple identification of the respective selected charge program via the LCD display
  • Individual call-up of current parameters: Voltage (V); Capacity (mAh/Ah); Time (hh:mm); Current (mA)
  • Multiple overload protection for each rechargeable battery and automatic termination of the charge process
  • Detection of defective rechargeable batteries & detection of alkaline batteries
  • Reverse polarity protection

USE

  • Different mains plugs may be included, e.g. Euro or UK, depending on the design and the specific country variant. If the correct plug is not already fitted, position this over the two contacts of the mains adapter and slide the plug into the guide until it reaches the stop (see fig. [1]). Ensure that the plug latches into place audibly when sliding on. Connect the mains adapter with a suitable mains outlet.
  • To change the mains plug, press the locking tab underneath the plug (e.g. with a pen) in until it can slide a little upwards and be removed.

OPERATION

Simple charging with preset parameters

  1. Insert the rechargeable battery with the correct polarity as shown by the symbol in the charge bay.
  2. After inserting, the indicator in the LCD display flashes. The rechargeable battery voltage in volts and the preset charge program “CHARGE” are displayed and then the preset charge current of 600mA is displayed. Then the charge process starts automatically. Warming of the rechargeable batteries during the charge process is normal. As soon as the rechargeable battery is fully charged, “FULL” appears in the display and the rechargeable battery is supplied with maintenance charging. This function guarantees optimum performance and prevents the self-discharge of the rechargeable battery. Take out the rechargeable battery and disconnect the product from the power supply.

Advanced functions
The charger has 3 function buttons, “CURRENT”, “DISPLAY” and “MODE” (see fig. [2]) which can be used to set the following properties:

  1. MODE button
Press “MODE” within 8 seconds after inserting 1-4 rechargeable batteries in order to select from the following charge programs:

  2. CHARGE à
Rechargeable battery charging. After complete charging there is an automatic changeover to pulse maintenance charging (also with the following charge programs).

  3. DISCHARGE
Rechargeable battery is first discharged and then charged in order to minimise the memory effect.

  4. REFRESH
(“DISCHARGE REFRESH” or “CHARGE REFRESH” is displayed in the LCD display) à Rechargeable battery will be discharged and charged multiple times to revitalise it. In order to return a rechargeable battery to its maximum capacity, it will be repeatedly discharged and charged (max. 10 times) until no more capacity increase can be detected.

  5. TEST
(“CHARGE TEST” or “DISCHARGE TEST” is displayed in the LCD display) à Rechargeable battery will first be charged and then discharged to measure the capacity in mAh/Ah and then charged again.

  6. CURRENT button
Press the “CURRENT” within 8 seconds of selecting the charge program or after inserting the last rechargeable battery in order to select the charge current for the “CHARGE” or “TEST” program or the discharge current for the “DISCHARGE” or “REFRESH” program.

  7. DISPLAY button

  8. Press the “DISPLAY” button during charging or discharging to display the charge/discharge current (in mA), the rechargeable battery voltage (in V), the charge/discharge capacity (in mAh or Ah) or the elapsed charge/discharge time (in hh:mm).

  9. After you have carried out your changes via the function buttons, the charger starts with the selected parameters automatically after 8 seconds insofar as there are no further selections made.

  10. Note : If you want to select the same mode for several rechargeable batteries, first insert the rechargeable batteries and then connect the mains adapter. Then carry
out the settings. These settings will be adopted for all of the occupied charge slots. However, you can also use and set each charge slot individually.

  • After you have inserted the rechargeable battery, you have 8 seconds to select the mode and a further 8 seconds to select the charge current. If there is no input for 8 seconds, the charge process starts automatically with the preset parameters.
  • In order to change a function for an individual rechargeable battery, remove this briefly and then insert it again. The display for this rechargeable battery flashes and you can now make the changes for this individual charge slot with the “MODE” and/or “CURRENT” buttons, as described above.
  • If you are charging just one or two rechargeable batteries in the charger and are using only the two outermost charge bays for this, you can set the charge current to 1500mA or 1800mA with the “CURRENT” button for the “CHARGE” and “TEST” programs. In this case, the two inner charge bays will not operate. If you want to charge three or four rechargeable batteries at the same time, you can set the charge current to 400mA, 600mA or 800mA. With the “DISCHARGE” and “REFRESH” programs, the rechargeable batteries are first discharged and so discharge currents of 200mA, 300mA or 400mA can be selected here. The subsequent charge process is carried out with twice the current level than was used for the discharge process.
  • A few minutes before the rechargeable battery is fully charged, the charger reduces the charge current to ca. 200mA, regardless of the charge current selected beforehand. The gentle charging system increases the service life of your rechargeable batteries.
  • After charging or discharging is complete, the charger waits for a brief period to protect the rechargeable batteries before continuing with the selected discharge/charge program.
  • ATTENTION: Ensure that your rechargeable batteries are designed for the respective charge current. AAA rechargeable batteries should not be charged with 1500mA or 1800mA!
  • We recommend selecting the maximum charge current (mA) such that it does not exceed the capacity value (mAh) of your rechargeable battery. This prevents excessive heat build-up and protects the rechargeable battery.

LCD DISPLAY

  • During operation you can have the parameters described under point 3 (DISPLAY) displayed. In addition, the selected charge program and the current process (CHARGE or DISCHARGE) will also be displayed. An example of the LCD display can be seen in Fig. [3]. 4 different display modes and 4 different charge programs have been selected here.
  • “Full” is displayed when the charge process is complete and the rechargeable battery is supplied with maintenance charging.
  • After the “TEST” and “REFRESH” programs have ended, the display alternates between “Full” and the measured discharge capacity in mAh/Ah.
  • The backlighting of the LCD display switches on when the mains is connected and extinguishes after 30 seconds if no rechargeable batteries have been inserted. It is illuminated so long as a charge process is running and extinguishes automatically 30 seconds after the last rechargeable battery has been fully charged. The lighting can be activated for 30 seconds by pressing a function button. If a faulty rechargeable battery is detected during the charge process, the backlighting remains on permanently.
