BEFORE PREPARING COFFEE

You can chose between pre-ground coffee or freshly ground coffee for preparing your espresso. Pre-ground coffee preserves its aroma for 7-8 days, stored in a hermetically sealed box in a cool, dark place. Do not store it in the fridge or in freezer. The coffee beans which are stored in the same way can preserve their aroma for up to 4 weeks. You can make a better coffee, which is richer in aromas if you use freshly ground coffee.

The grain size of ground coffee is ideal if it looks alike salt. Hot water can flow through very easily on the coarser ground coffee, the coffee will be diluted. If the coffee is already so finely ground as if it were flour, there will be a very strong coffee, or it can even plug the coffee maker.

PREPARING ESPRESSO

  1. The mode switch of the unit has to be in RELEASE / OFF position.
  2. Make sure, that there is no overpressure in the appliance. See the paragraph about „Control and dissemination of overpressure”
  3. Fill as much cold water to the glass carafe as many portion you want to prepare, but only up to marking 4th, then pour this water to the water tank. WARNING!
  4. Wrap the water tank cover (1) tight to its place, in the direction of CLOSE arrow.
  5. Put the filter to the filter holder, and put as much coffee to it much the dose needs, up to the 4th marking.
  6. Insert the filter holder to its place, so as the shaft is standing forward, towards to the INSERT mark, and after turn it to the right till stops, to ● LOCK mark. The edge of the filter holder should be clean in order to fit the gasket of the appliance properly.
  7. Put the glass carafe together with its lid exactly under the filter holder.
  8. Set the operation mode switch (7) to position. Blue light will be on.
  9. The appliance starts to boil the water, then the coffee will flow down to the glass carafe. This process takes about 3-5 minutes.
  10. If you turn the mode switch to PAUSE position, the coffee will not flow. Then you can pour coffee into cups.
  11. If no more coffee is flowing, switch the appliance to RELEASE / OFF position.
  12. Till the appliance is under overpressure, do not remove the filter holder. See paragraph about „Control and dissemination of overpressure”
  13. Allow the appliance to cool down for at least 10 minutes before the next usage.

PREPARING CAPPUCCINO

Cappuccino is made from 1/3 part espresso coffee, 1/3 part from steamed milk and 1/3 of milk foam. Making milk foam requires practice, so do not be disappointed if you do not succeed first. For best results, we recommend to foam up the milk in a separate glass and pour it on the coffee after. Use low- fat milk for milk foaming with max. 1,5% fat content. It is important that the milk should be cold and the glass is at room temperature.

  1. As first step, make espresso coffee, but such way that you fill a little more water to the tank, than the portion of coffee you prepare. The surplus water is needed to make the milk foam.
CAPPUCCINO| water quantity in the glass carafe
    ---|---
    2 portions| between marking 2 and 4 (~ 3)
4 portions| to the bottom of the metal ring a
  2. When the desired quantity of coffee has flown out (in case of 2 portions – up to marking 2nd, by 4 portions to marking 4th), switch the mode selector to PAUSE position.
  3. Fill a metal or porcelain mug with semi-cold milk.
  4. Immerse the milk frothing nozzle directly below the surface of the milk and turn the switch into position.
  5. Move the mug with circular motions, approx. for 30 seconds while the nozzle is under the surface of the milk.
  6. When the volume of milk has doubled, lower the nozzle into the milk to warm it up.
  7. Close the steam by turning the switch to PAUSE position. Now you can take away the milk from the nozzle.
  8. Release the overpressure according to the paragraph „Control and dissemination of overpressure”.

Now you’re ready to compile cappuccino. Up to the first 1/3 of the mug fill it with coffee, then pour the same quantity of steamed milk on it. Finally spoon milk foam on the top.
