Thank you for purchasing the Quirky Roast Smart Coffee Maker! Ever wish you could make a pot of coffee from your bed on a lazy Sunday morning? Now you can! The Roast, the WiFi smart coffee maker allows you to control it with the sound of your voice or a touch of your smart phone. control it with the sound of your voice or a touch of your phone.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
When using your Roast, basic safety precautions should always be followed.
Please read this entire manual before Using this device, paying extra
attention to these safety warnings and guidelines. Quirky Roast is designed
only for home use and domestic commercial applicafions such as small offices,
restaurants, and hotels. Neither Quirky nor its affliates are responsible for
damage resulfing from improper use or for damages caused by non-compliance
with the information, warnings, and instructions provided in this manual.
Please keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.
- Do not use appliance on wet or hof surfaces, or near an open flame or heat source.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse any part of appliance, power cord, or plug in water or other liquid. Unplug from outlef when not in use and before deaning.
- To disconnect, unplug the power cord from the electrical Outlet only. Do not disconnect by puling on the cord.
- Do not operate appliance with a damaged power cord or plug. Do not operate appliance if it malfunctions or is in any way damaged.
- Use appliance only for its intended use.
- Closely supervise children when using an yelectrical appliance. Do not allow appliance to be used as a toy.
- The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended fo fit in a polarized outlet only one way. IF the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way. Do nof force the plug into the outlet
CAUTION: A short power cord is provided to reduce risks from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. An extenion cord may be used when marked electrical rating is no less than the electrical rating of this appliance in the SPECIFICATIONS section of this manual. All cords should not drape over counters or tables where cords can be tripped Over, or pulled on unintenionally, especially by children. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or heated oven. Exterme caution must be used when moving products containing hot liquids
- Only use fresh (potable) and cold (moderate) water. Do not Use water contained in bathfubs, wash basins or other containers.
- Never touch the hot parts of the appliance, including the Warming plate. Only handle the plastic parts of the appliance and the coffee pot by its handle.
- Be careful not to get burned by steam evaporating from the coffee filfer.
- Never use the appliance if the pot shows any signs of cracks. Only use the pot that comes with this appliance.
- Handle the coffee pot with care, as glass is fragile.
- Never use your coffeee machine without water in it. If you have a programmable coffee machine, make sure to fill it with water before programming it
- WARNING: Quirky Roast is not intended for use by children. It is not a foy! Do not allow children fo play with any part of the appliance. Keep children away from the power cord, they can pull the unit down and be burned by hot water or become entangled in the power cord. Keep the coffee maker, the heated base, and the cord out of the reach of children af all fimes.
- WARNING: This appliance operates at very high temperatures. There could be danger of scalding from escaping water or steam. Do not fouch any part of the coffee maker except the stay cool handle when the appliance is in use
- WARNING: Position the lid so that steam is directed away from the handle.
- WARNING: Ensure that Quirky Roast is switched off before removing the coffee maker from the base.

OVERVIEW
CONTROLS AND FEATURES
The control panel consists of power button, timer, program, and mode controls.
First Use Cleaning Instructions
Ensure the Roast is clean and all packaging has been removed from inside and
outside the product. Before using the Roast for the first fime, clean if by
running through a cleaning cycle
- Fill the coffee maker with cold, clean water fo the fill line.
- Place the filter into the machine (without adding coffee), and close the lid.
- Place the coffee pot on the heating base.
- Connect fo power source.
- Press any button. 12:00 will appear on your display.
- Press the Power Button once. The red LED indicator will furn on. Affer heating, the water will run through fhe Roast into the coffee pot.
- Press PROG button one time, LED displays “SET TIME”. It means yoU can set the real time. Press HOUR and MIN button fo set the fime you want. Affer setting auto program. IF you release the buttons for 8 sec, it will come back to clock display automatically.
- Press PROG button twice, The LCD displays “SET TIMER”, It means you can sef the auto program coffee making Also USe HOUR and MIN fo sef the fimer. When the fime you have sef arrived, Coffee maker will swifch on aufomafically and start brewing.
- Press ON/OFF button, the red indicator will light up. That means the automatic brewing function has started. When the fime you have sef arrived, the green lighf furns up and red indicator furns ofi. The coffee maker starts working.
- If you want to make coffee immediately, just press ON/OFF button two times. The green indicator lights up and the appliance will operate. Prass the ON/OFF button once nagain, the green indicator turns off, the coffee maker stops working.
- Affer boling, when no wafer in fank buf you keep swifch on and the carafe on heating plate, this will remain the coffee or tea warm. The water in carafe can be warm at: a. above 75C in half an hour. B. above 70C in an hour
What Type of Water Should You Use?
We recommend the use of filtered water for the Roast Using filtered water not
only gives you the best taste, it prevents sediment from building up in your
coffee maker and calcifying the coffee maker.
How Much Coffee Should You Use?
The general rule for coffee is that 2 tablespoons of ground coffee should be
used for every 6 ounces of water. This amount can be adjusted to suit personal
fastes.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Place the Roast ona firm and level surface

Pour the desired amount of clean water into the coffee maker through the water tank.

Place a coffee filter into the plastic fiter and with coffee grounds
-
Ensure the plastic filter is aligned properly in the Roast Close the lid.

Connect the Roast to a power supply. The display will show “12:00” when it is ready to use.

Place the coffee pot on the warming plate, ensuring that it is aligned to the tip of the funnel.

Press power button once. The red indicator light will turn on and coffee will begin brewing
NOTE: You may remove the coffee pot to pour coffee at any time during the brewing process. It is recommended you do not do this longer than 30 seconds as it may cause brewed coffee to drip onto the heating base. -
When brewing is complete, press the Power Button to turn your Roast off
Setting Current Time
- Press the Program Button until “Clock” is illuminated on the LED display
- Press Hour and Min buttons to set your current time. The coffee maker is set to military time, and your settings are from 00.00 to 23.59
- After you have set the current time, press the Program Button again to confirm your set time.
Programming An Automatic Brew
- Press the Program Button until “Timer” is iluminated on the LED display.
- Press Hour and Min buttons to set your desired brew time The coffee maker is set to military fime, and your settings are from 00:00 to 23:59
- After you have set the current time, press the Program Button again to confirm your desired time.
- Once all settings are finalized, add coffee grounds to a coffee filfer and load your coffee machine. Fill the water tank of the Roast
- Press ON/OFF twice until the red LED flashes. This will indicate your Roast will brew coffee according to your set fime
- When the set time arrives, the red and green LED indicator will light up, brewing has begun
- When the time you have set arrived, Coffee maker will switch on automatically and start brewing
Canceling A Programmed Automatic Brew
- The red LED indicator light will indicate that there is a programmed automatic brew scheduled on your Roast.
- To cancel the programmed brew, press the Power Button 1 times until the LED indicator light turns off.
- This will indicate your programmed brew has been canceled and the Roast is now set to manual use.
Pouring Hot Coffee
Once coffee is brewed, you may pour it into another container
NOTE: When pouring hot coffee, make sure you are only holding the coffee
pot by the stay-cool handle. Ensure that coffee is leaving the coffee maker
from the
spout to better control the flow of water. Replace the coffee pot on the base
when not in use, and unplug the cable from the power source
AUTO SHUT-OFF SAFETY FEATURE
The Roast is equipped with a safety auto shut-off feature to protect the
appliance from damage in case of improper use. If the Roast is activated
accidentally without first being filled with water, or if all the water in the
Roast has evaporated during Boiling, the auto shut-off will engage and disable
the heating element In the event that the auto shut-off is engaged, remove the
power plug from the wall outlet immediately Wait 3-5 minutes until the coffee
maker is sufficiently cool Then proceed to refll the coffee maker and continue
use.
INSTALL THE QUIRKY APP
Please scan the QR Code, or search for “Quirky” in the App Store or Google Play
Registration and Login
- Run the Quirky App from your smart phone
- Register or login. The App will take you to the home page.
Device Preparation
Before moving forward, please ensure your Roast and your device are prepared
for pairing and setup.
- Ensure Roast has been connected to a power source
- Ensure your smart phone is able to connect to a WIFI network and has internet access
- Download and open the App on your smart phone.
Pairing

If this is the first time connecting a Quirky smart home device, you can add your frst device by pressing the “Add Device” button on the home page
If devices are connected to your Quirky App, and you want to add a new device, press the icon on the top right to connect a new device. -
Select the device you want to connect from the list

Follow the steps as prompted by the App to finish connection. If you get stuck somewhere, start again from the beginning

The App will show you a list of nearby WiFi networks. Select your home network, enter your password, and connect to it through the App.
If you do not see your WiFi Network on the list, press “Change Network” -
Wait for your device to finish connecting

Once your device is connected, it is ready to use.
USING ALEXA
Please make sure that your Alexa app is connected to Amazon Echo and both work together successfully under your WiFi home network.
- Log in your Alexa App, tap top left corner, and tap “Skills”
- Find the Quirky App in the search bar and tap “Enable”
- Enter the account and password of your Quirky App that you created during registration or login.
- Tap “Link Now” then tap “Authorize” on the next page to connect Alexa to Quirky
- Once connected, the following page will appear. Tap “Done” on the top left corner for complete connection.
- Tap “Discover Devices” on the next poge
- Wait a few seconds for Alexa to find and connect to your device through the Quirky App. You should see your device paired in your list of devices when this is complete.
- You can now control your device with the Alexa App
USING GOOGLE HOME
PREPARATION
- Download the Google Home app on your smart phone.
- Register your Google Account
- Pair Roast with Quirky App and name it with a simple and easily recognizable name.
- Finish setting up Google Home.
NOTE: This device currently only supports US occounts.
- Open your Google Home App, select Account on the bottom right hand corner.
- Tap “Settings
- Under “Google Assistant Services” tap on “More Settings”
- At the top tap “Assistant”
- Tap “Home Control”
- Tap on the bottom right hand corner of the screen
- Find and add the Quirky App from the search bar
- Enter the account and password of your Quirky App that you created during registration or login.
- Tap “Link Now” then tap “Authorize” on the next page to connect Google Home to Quirky.
CLEANING
- Only clean the Roast when the power source has been disconnected.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning tools or harsh cleaning solutions.
- Do not immerse the heating base or the coffee maker’s sub base in any liquid
- Do not place any part of the appliance in the dishwasher
- To clean the exterior, use a slightly damp, lint-free cloth or sponge
- Ensure the Roast has fully dried before plugging into a power sOurce.
DESCALING THE COFFEE MAKER
If you have hard water, it is recommended you decalcify your Roast coffee
maker once every three months to remove build-up
NOTE: if you are using Roast, and it switches off before the water is fully
Roasted, this is an indicator that your coffee maker needs to be decalcified
- Pour any descaling agent into the coffee maker as you would pour water. You may also use white vinegar
- Leave the coffee maker for 1 hour or following cleaning agent instructions
- Pour out the liquid and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Refll with clean, fltered water.
- Roast the water, and empty out its contents
- After using a cleaning agent, it is recommended you allow the Roast to go through several Boiling cycles with new, filtered water. Rinse the coffee maker with clean water after each Roast cycle.

Q1: The Roast is wont turn on.
Al: Ensure your Roast is connected to a working power sOurce
Q2: The Roast turns off before water is fully Roasted.
A2: You may need to decalcify your coffee maker if you are using hard water.
