Function / Application

This device measures long-term ambient temperature, air humidity and dew point. Measurements are stored internally and can be accessed by connecting the device to a PC via USB. Using the supplied software on a PC, the measurement parameters can be configured, a new measurement prepared, and the data subsequently analysed.

General safety instructions

  • The device must only be used in accordance with its intended purpose and within the scope of the specifications.
  • The structure of the device must not be modified in any way.
  • Do not expose the device to mechanical stress, extreme temperatures or significant vibration.

Safety instructions
Dealing with electromagnetic radiation

  • The measuring device complies with electromagnetic compatibility regulations and limit values in accordance with EMC-Directive 2014/30/EU.
  • Local operating restrictions – for example, in hospitals, aircraft, petrol stations or in the vicinity of people with pacemakers – may apply. Electronic devices can potentially cause hazards or interference or be subject to hazards or interference.

Information on maintenance and care

Clean all components with a damp cloth and do not use cleaning agents, scouring agents and solvents. Store the device in a clean and dry place.

Inserting battery

Open the battery compartment and insert battery according to the symbols. Be sure to pay attention to polarity.

USB drivers / Software installation / Commissioning

Load the CD in the drive and follow the installation Close the installation program once installation has been successfully completed.
You must install the USB drivers before you can start the application and connect the device to a computer. To do this, insert the supplied CD into the drive and open the folder entitled “USB Driver”. Depending on your Windows operating system version, start the following installer:

  • 32bit version: CP210xVCPInstaller_x32
  • 64bit version: CP210xVCPInstaller_x64

Check the basic information relating to your Windows installation to see which type of system you have. Follow the installation instructions.
Then connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the mini-USB port of the device and the other end to a free USB port on your computer, and start the application. The software is only available in English.

Measurement-specific settings on the connected device can be defined in the Setup menu.
New configuration automatically deletes all existing data.Laserliner 082-031

Sampling rate

The sampling rate defines how often measurements are recorded. Setting options: 1 … 60 seconds, 1 … 60 minutes and 1 … 24 hours. The maximum measurement duration is calculated under “Recording time”. The measurement memory is full at the end of this time. See also section 5.6 “Continuous /non- continuous recording”.

LED cycle setting

The active recording is signaled by the LED (3) and “REC” on the display. The LED signal can be set to appear every 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Or the LED signal can be switched off.

Options when starting to measure

Measurement can be started manually, automatically, or after the set time.

  • Manually; Hold the key (1) down to start or stop measurement.
  • Automatically:; Measurement starts as soon as the device is disconnected from the computer.
  • Time lag on start:; Measurement commences at the end of the set time.
Current time

“Current time” displays the set date and time. You can change the date format in this menu.

Alarm function settings

The alarm range can be freely defined for the three measurement variables: Temperature, relative humidity and dew point. If the measured value goes above or below the set cap or floor, the alarm LED (2) flashes once a minute.
LED red: Max./min. temperature exceeded LED yellow: Max./min. humidity exceeded
LED flashes when alarm signals low/high: The alarm function can be switched on or off.
Alarm when recording is not active: A signal is issued when the recording function (REC) is not active.

Continuous / Non-continuous recording
  • Continuous recording: The device records until manually stopped.
  • Non-continuous recording: Older measurements are overwritten. Recording stops automatically when the data memory is full.

Notes on the measurement process and on use

  1. Connect ClimaData Box to the PC
  2. Download and backup any existing data. Starting or configuring a new measurement deletes all existing data.
  3. Configure the recording function in the Setup menu and save your settings
  4. Depending on your start parameter, position the device at the measuring point and record measurements. If set to manual start, hold key 1 down. The display shows “Rec” to indicate that the measurement recording is active.
  5. To stop recording, either hold key 1 down again, or recording stops when the memory is full, depending on the set parameter.
  6. Connect ClimaData Box to the PC, download and backup data.

If the device has been placed in a cold and/or very humid environment, condensation may form in the sensor housing when it is removed due to the change in climate. Position the device upright for a while to allow it to acclimatise.
