- Before connecting the device into electric outlet, make sure the device is intended for use in your local power supply (see technical specifications).
- Wash the unit and its parts in warm water in combination with detergents for washing dishes.
- Do not put the unit base in the dishwasher and do not immerse it into water, just wipe it with a cloth! The base of the unit contains electrical components and it could cause short circuit.
Functions of the device
Drying of foods is carried out using hot air which circulates between the
trays. Hot air is generated by a fan which is driven by an electric motor.
Dried foods contain large amounts of vitamins, as well as fresh foods. The
advantage of dried food, however, is that you can enjoy it throughout the
year. It is very important to properly store dried foods, we recommend use of
jars with sealable lid.
Dried foods will visually look different than those you can buy in the store.
The structure and color of the food is different, because it does not contain
any preservatives, sweeteners or coloring, only warm air is used.
In addition to fruits and vegetables, the dehydrator can also be used for
spices, flowers or herbs which can then be used for preparation of healthy tea
or can serve as decoration.
Use of the appliance
-
Place the food on individual trays of the dehydrator so that air can easily circulate between the pieces. For best results do not layer the food pieces on top of each other in the same tray, but spread them across individual plates next to each other.
-
Place Individual trays on the base of the unit and cover it with the top lid. The lid should not be removed during the drying process.
-
Plug the dryer into the socket and turn it on using the ,,ON” button (it will be indicated by a red LED light) and set the appropriate temperature.
-
When the drying process is completed, turn the device off by switching the button to ,,OFF” position, and let the products cool down. Afterwards place them into sealable glass jars or other containers for storage. Dried products can also be frozen in the freezer.
-
Disconnect the appliance from the power outlet.
Note: It is recommended to use all trays during the dehydration, regardless of whether they are empty or filled with products for drying.
Recommendations and Tips
Always wash the products before inserting them into the dehydrator but do not
start the unit while the products are wet, let them always drain thoroughly or
wipe them dry.
Fruits and vegetables can be cut into pieces to in order to achieve a faster
dehydration.
Individual trays with products can be swapped, but always stop the drying
process before you remove the lid and swap the trays. Swapping the trays (e.g.
swapping top and bottom tray) is important especially if you are using
different products on individual trays. Each product has a different drying
time and products closer to the fan will be dried faster. Fruit drying time is
only approximate, the ideal time always depends on the shape, thickness and
moisture content of each fruit piece.
Drying of fruits
- Wash the fruit
- Remove the seeds and cut off the rotten parts. You can also remove the peel
- Cut and place the pieces onto individual trays
- You can add for example a slice of lemon or orange, this will freshen up the fruit. You can also add coconut or cinnamon
Drying of vegetables
- Wash the vegetables
- Remove the seeds and cut off the rotten parts. You can also remove the peel
- Cut and place the pieces onto individual trays
- You can boil the vegetables for 1-5 minutes before drying, rinse it with cold water and let it drain thoroughly
Drying of herbs and plants
- Pick the plants before or while blooming and make sure it is fresh. Do not use dried-up, or discolored (yellowish) plants.
- After drying keep the plants in a dark, cool place such as in jars or paper bags.
Storage
- Storage containers must be well sealed, clean and dry.
- It is recommended to place the containers in dark cold room in a dry place.
- Approximately one week after drying it is recommended to check whether there is any moisture in the containers. If so, the products are not well dried and the dehydration process has to be repeated, as there is a danger of mold growth.
Important! Always let the dried products cool down thoroughly, do not put them into containers while they are hot.
Drying of fruits
Tip: Before drying fruits it is recommended to squeeze some fruits and
put the pieces which you want to dry into the juice for about two hours.
If you do not have a powerful blender, juicer or grinder, you can use a
substitute such as fruit juice from the store (in case of drying apples use
apple juice, in case of drying pears, use pear juice, etc.)
