General Safety

Batteries

• Do not disassemble, open, drop, crush, bend, deform, puncture, or shred the battery.

• Prevent short-circuiting by ensuring metallic or conductive objects do not contact both battery terminals simultaneously.
• Dispose of used batteries promptly following the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Improper use of the battery or tool may lead to fire, explosion, or other hazards.
• Supervise any use of the battery or tool by children.

Charging

• Read all instructions and cautionary warnings on the battery charger and the product using the battery before use.

• Only use the charger provided with this product to reduce the risk of injury. Batteries from other products may burst, causing personal injury or damage.

• Do not expose the charger to rain or snow.

• Only use attachments recommended or sold by Kogan.com to avoid fire, electric shock, or injury.

• When disconnecting the charger, pull by the plug rather than the cord to prevent damage.

• Ensure the charger cord is positioned to avoid being stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.

• Avoid using an extension cord unless necessary. If required, ensure it is suitable:

  • The extension cord must have an adequate wire size, measured in square millimetres (mm²), to prevent power loss and overheating. In Australia, wire sizes are specified by the cross-sectional area rather than the gauge number.
    Ensure each extension used meets or exceeds the required capacity for the intended load. For example, a thicker wire (e.g., 1.5 mm²) will have a greater capacity than a thinner wire (e.g., 1.0 mm²).

• Use only the charger supplied with your tool. Using a different charger could damage the tool or create a hazard.

• Use only one charger at a time when charging.

• Do not attempt to open the charger as it contains no parts serviceable by the user. If the charger is damaged, contact help.Kogan.com for support.

• Do not incinerate the tool or batteries, even if severely damaged or completely worn out. Batteries can explode in a fire, releasing toxic fumes and materials.

• Avoid charging or using the battery in explosive atmospheres, such as near flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Inserting or removing the battery could ignite dust or fumes.

• If battery contents come into contact with the skin, wash immediately with mild soap and water. If battery liquid enters the eyes, rinse with water for at least three minutes or until irritation ceases. Seek medical attention if necessary. Battery electrolyte consists of a mixture of liquid organic carbonates and lithium salts.

ASSEMBLY

Fitting and Removing the Battery (Sold Separately)
Note:
This product is designed to be used with CT20VBAT20A – Certa PowerPlus 20V 2.0Ah
Lithium Battery, and CT20VHTLBCHB – Certa PowerPlus 20V Rapid Charger (65W) (sold separately).

The battery should always be removed whenever you are not using the tool and especially when you are adjusting or transporting the tool to avoid accidental operation.

1. Insert the battery: Slide it into the leaf blower body until it latches into place.
   Check that the battery is securely locked into place (Figure 2).

2. Remove the battery: Press and hold the button on both sides of the battery pack and slide the battery away from the leaf blower.

OPERATION

Charging the Battery Pack (Sold Separately)
Note:
This product is designed to be used with CT20VBAT20A – Certa PowerPlus 20V 2.0Ah
Lithium Battery, and CT20VHTLBCHB – Certa PowerPlus 20V Rapid Charger (65W) (sold separately).

1. Remove the battery pack from the handle by pressing the push lock buttons downwards.
2. Verify that the electrical outlet voltage matches the voltage specified on the rating plate of the battery charger. Connect the power plug of the charger to an electrical outlet.
3. Place the battery pack onto the charger. The red LED will illuminate to indicate that the battery is charging.
4. Once fully charged, the red LED will turn off and the green LED will remain illuminated. The charging process typically takes about 1 hour for an empty battery.

Temperature Guidelines for Charging:

• Caution: Avoid charging batteries in temperatures below 4.5°C or above 40.5°C.
• Optimal Conditions : Best performance and battery life are achieved when charged at an air temperature around 24°C.
• Tool Temperature Limits: Charging will not occur if the tool’s temperature is below 0°C or above 45°C.
• Charging Process: The charger may emit a humming sound and become warm during charging, which is normal.

Troubleshooting Charging Issues:

1. Verify power supply by plugging another appliance into the outlet.
2. Ensure the outlet is not controlled by a switch that cuts power when lights are turned off.
3. If issues persist, relocate the charger and tool to an area within the acceptable temperature range (4.5°C to 40.5°C).
4. If the outlet and temperature are adequate and the tool still does not charge, contact help.Kogan.com for support.

Maintaining Battery Life:

• Recharge the tool when it shows a decline in power during tasks that were previously completed with ease.
• Avoid deep discharges as they can significantly reduce battery life.
• After use, always recharge batteries fully.
• Store the tool in an environment with a temperature between 4.5°C and 24°C.
• Disconnect the charger from the tool once the battery is fully charged to prevent overcharging.

Note:
Prolonged use of the tool with depleted batteries can permanently diminish battery performance. Recharge promptly after use.

Operating the Hedge Trimmer

• To turn on the trimmer, simultaneously press down on the Front switch-handle (4) and Back switch-handle (5).
• Releasing either switch-handle will cause the trimmer to stop suddenly. You may notice sparks from the ventilation slot; this is a normal phenomenon and will not damage the trimmer. A burning smell may also be noticeable, which is typical due to the electrical brake and may result in a small amount of smoke.

After Use
After use, always store the trimmer with the blade covered.

Changing the Blade

• Regularly inspect the blade and replace it immediately if damaged.
• The blade should only be changed by a qualified service professional.

General Information

• For older hedges that require substantial cutting back, use pruning shears to trim thicker branches to the desired length before using the hedge trimmer. This prevents the blade from encountering materials that could cause damage, such as fencing wire
  or metal plant supports.

• Avoid using the hedge trimmer on native hardwoods as these can damage the blade.
  This tool is designed for cutting soft new growth and should only be used on such materials.
