- Children must be supervised at all times to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- This charger is designed for consumer use. Do not use this charger for commercial or any other use.
- This charger is only suitable for lead-acid batteries and should not be used to recharge NiCad or any other non-specified types of battery.
- When a normal lead-acid battery is being charged, the release of gas may cause the fluid to bubble. As the gas is flammable, keep the area ventilated and free of naked lights.
- Avoid getting battery fluid (electrolyte) on your skin or clothes. It is acidic and can cause burns. If this occurs, you should rinse the affected area with water immediately.
- Never charge a frozen battery. If the battery fluid (electrolyte) is frozen, take the battery to a warm area and allow it to thaw before you begin charging.
- Do not touch the battery clamps together when the charger is on.
- Only connect and disconnect the battery leads when the power cord is unplugged.
- Do not allow the power cord to be exposed to water, heat, direct sunlight, or overhang where it can be pulled or otherwise be damaged or pose a hazard.
- This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to repair the charger yourself.
- If the power cord is damaged, stop use immediately and contact help.Kogan.com for assistance.

OVERVIEW
BEFORE FIRST USE
For batteries with cell caps (maintenance required)
- Remove the battery from your car to avoid possible damage to the alternating current generator.
- To avoid damage to the car body from possible battery fluid spills, it is advisable to completely dismantle the battery.
- Remove the covering caps from the battery cells and only replace them after the charging procedure, so that any gases which build up during the charging procedure can dissipate. It is unavoidable that some acid will spill during the charging procedure.
- Check that the level of liquid in each battery cell is above the recommended filling mark. If not, then the cell must be filled up with ionised or distilled water.
Note:
Do not use tap water.
For batteries without cell caps (maintenance not required)
When charging batteries without cell caps, carefully follow the battery
manufacturer’s instructions.
OPERATION
-
Attach the positive battery charger leads (red) to the positive connecting terminal of the battery, indicated by “P” or “+”.
-
Attach the negative battery charger leads (black) to the negative connecting terminal of the battery, indicated by “N” or “–”.
Note:
Ensure good contact is made between the crocodile clips and the connecting terminals. -
Plug your trainer charger unit into a domestic power socket. The charger may take up to about 7 seconds to determine if a 6V or 12V battery is being connected. The charging indicator will then illuminate, and the battery will begin charging.
-
When the full indicator illuminates, the battery is completely charged. The charger will then switch to the floating operation mode (periodically charging to maintain a 100% charge).
-
Unplug the power cord to turn the charger off.
Note:
The battery charger automatically will switch to standby if the direct current cable clamps are removed from while the power cord is still connected to power.
