Cautions
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of sling or patient lift.
- Always confirm the weight capacity of the sling against the patient’s weight and ensure proper placement before performing a lift.
- Always inspect slings prior to each use. Signs of rips, tears, or frays indicate sling wear which is unsafe and could result in injury. Signs of color fading, bleached areas, or permanent wrinkles on the straps indicate improper laundering which is unsafe and could result in injury. Any slings with signs of wear or improper laundering should be immediately removed from use.
- Always confirm compatibility between the connection style of the patient sling and the patient lift before use. Medline loop-style 6-point cradles are compatible with these slings. If other lift cradles are being used, the user should confirm compatibility between the hoist and the sling. Reach out to your Medline Representative with questions.
- Do not remove sling labels. If sling labels are removed or no longer legible, sling must be immediately removed from use.
- Never launder a disposable patient sling.
- Always follow your facility’s Safe Patient Handling policy regarding how many staff members are needed to perform a patient lift.
- Always refer to the manufacturer’s manual for operation of lift equipment.
Instructions
Sizing
Always refer to weight capacity of the sling when selecting a size. Use
clinical judgement for body shape and patient comfort when selecting between
sizes.
Note: For amputees, use an amputee sling or repositioning sling, and use the discretion of your clinical professionals.
Positioning
With the product label outwards, position the seated u-shaped sling
underneath/behind the patient, aligning the base of the U-shaped seated sling
with the patient’s coccyx.

There are three ways to properly apply the leg straps. In each method, apply the leg straps under the patient’s thighs, making sure the material is flat and reaches entirely underneath the thigh.
Method 1 (Most common)
Place straps under each leg, cross straps in middle and attach to the lift.
Method 2
Straps may be left uncrossed when attached to the lift, supporting the legs
separately.
Method 3
Place both straps under both thighs and attach to the lift.
Regardless of method used, follow these guidelines
- When connecting sling straps to the patient lift cradle, make sure to match strap loop lengths on either side of the sling, left to right. Use the color of the loops as a visual reference to match lengths.
- Different length straps may be used between the front and back of the sling, as long as they match left and right.
- Use different loop lengths on the straps to achieve desired patient positioning:
- Shorter straps towards the head, and longer straps towards legs, will create a seated position.
- Longer straps towards the head, and shorter straps towards the legs, will create a more reclined position.
- When all straps are attached to the patient lift cradle, always perform a final visual check to make sure all loop lengths match from side to side.
- When performing the lift, reassure and calm the patient. Patient should not hold any part of the lift or straps during transfer.
- After lift or transfer, remove all loops of the patient sling from the lift and remove sling from behind patient.
Reusable Slings
- Reusable slings are recommended for use with the same patient unless washed before using for a different patient.
- Frequency of laundering should follow facility guidelines, or when the sling is soiled. Refer to the sling’s tag for laundering instructions and follow all wash instructions.
Disposable Slings
- Disposable slings are for single-patient use and may only be re used with the same patient.
- Disposable slings should discarded when soiled or when patient is discharged.
- Not Made with Natural Rubber Latex
